Borrego at Spectrum

The Apartment itself is nice and amenities look amazing but that is where you are fooled!!! We moved here specifically because they are «DOG FRIENDLY» that statement could not be more incorrect! I myself have made multiple complaints as well as at least 20 other people to both Borrego and Azul seeing as they are connected. You first show up and look around dog park looks great looks like there is tons of grass but what they don’t tell you is they FLOOD the entire place which, the dog park is a total mud pit all except between 11am and 5pm which in Arizona threw the summer is only 105 to 115 degrees who wouldn’t want to be out and play in that heat! Everytime you try and take your dog to that park in the morning they are running sprinklers nonstop and you and your pet will leave literally with mud up and down you legs. Not to mention when you have grass a ton of water what comes with that? Yes Mosquitos non stop everywhere enjoy hanging out in the muddy park getting bite a thousand times!!! Then you get to give your dog a daily bath but not before your furry friend can get in and around you house to track mud in hint time for a carpet charge! Even walking your pet around the areas you will sink into mud daily and like I said they only time it is not a mud pit is in the heat of the day! Even the night time they run the sprinklers nonstop which water is always split between all the tenants! They say it is to keep the grass green and beautiful I work in the Golf Industry we water our course 1 time at 4am and 1 time at 9pm i am not stupid! If i would of known it would be like this no chance in hell i would of moved into this place, like i said i and many other people have complained and all they say is we are not in charge of the water its a contractor who is, well then i would be pissed if i was managing this place because you tenants are getting very angry! If you have a pet there are so many better places if you don’t then well this probably doesn’t concern you! But no joke this sucks having to drive to a dog park every single day because you can’t use the 1 they so call provide!

I moved to Borrego at the end of December 2014 after living in Peoria for 3 ½ years… in an apartment I absolutely LOVED, might I add. I didn’t think that I’d find a place that would measure up to my old apartments but the community, the area of Gilbert, the staff at the Borrego at Spectrum office, the maintenance guys, and my apartment home has far surpassed what I expected. I would highly recommend this complex to anyone who is looking for a great place and great people!

This place has become increasingly uncomfortable as a place of residence due to the tenants. The following are only a few examples of how not awesome my neighbors are:
The lady downstairs is extremely loud and allows her baby to scream constantly for no apparent reason. She also leaves her puppy alone on the balcony a great deal. She also allows it to pee and poop on the balcony. The puppy has a tendency to bark non-​stop at all times of the night because it’s alone and scared. There is no excuse for this type of behavior. For goodness sake! She is on the first floor. How lazy can one person be when it comes to taking their dog out to potty. I’ve complained to the office and I know for a fact that other neighbors have complained as well about other issues. Yet, she is still here which is beyond amazing! Hmmm.
My boyfriend actually had to help a police officer restrain a tenant that was being belligerent. This same tenant is creepy and has a tendency to linger in the parking lot.
Honorable mention goes to the guy that parked his car outside my bedroom window and blasted his music. He was dancing and drinking ALONE in his car wth!
There are always a few neighbors who love to ride through the complex with their music turned up really loud.
Only move here if you want to deal with neighbors that are rude, loud, and obnoxious. If you like an abundance of stray cats prowling the property, then this is the place for you. I’m disgusted at the amount of money that I pay for this place. It’s definitely not worth it especially when they allow anyone to become a tenant.
I know this review was a little long but it’s not as long as the rest of my lease which is five LONG months. :(:(:(

The response below from Borrego is funny. They know exactly what I’m complaining about. The majority of it is documented in emails. They just choose to do nothing to completely resolve the issues. I’m 100% sure that I’m not the only tenant with these type of complaints. In addition, I was assured that Borrego was really strict with tenants before I signed my initial lease. After so many strikes, the tenants in question should be out!
Update!!7/2015
I’m moving out in a few days thank GOD! I called the front office and spoke to Selenia. Yet another new addition to an ever changing staff. My question was how do I set up a checkout for my apartment because I never received anything from them discussing the procedures. Plus I told her I was going to drop the keys off early. She snapped rudely that ‘you are still responsible for the rent’. I never stated that I wasn’t going to pay the seven days of rent that is due. Furthermore, I’ve always paid my rent on time and early. Seriously, this apt complex is horrible. She went on to tell me they the apt complex didn’t do walkthroughs with the tenants. Instead they send one of their maintenance guys to the apt once the tenant has left which is really shady. She said that if I wanted to that she would set up an appt to do a walkthrough with the maint. guy but it would have to be during the week. Wow just wow! Instead I’ll be taking pics that are time stamped just in case because I’ve heard horror stories about these guys. Renters beware!
In addition, I never received a final bill for trash/​sewer. So I emailed them a month later and the front office didn’t bother responding to my email. Instead they forwarded it to their corporate collection department. I received a FINAL NOTICE email from Sandra and a threat regarding turning it over to a collection agency for $ 41.74 that I was never made aware of. This was even after I made it clear that no one bothered to contact me via email. So, she attached the notice to vacate information which had my email address on it and she said that they had repeatedly sent emails to my address. I’m calling BS because any other time they would have emailed me. I’ve always received emails from them so to say that they actually emailed me regarding this situation is preposterous. Instead of receiving an apology for their blatant stupidity, I instead received a cold email. It really irritates me because over the past year I have paid over $ 12k to these jerks on time and early. I don’t mind paying the $ 41.74 but a little respect and decency goes a long way. Seriously, don’t rent from these guys. They are overpriced and lack the intellect to actually interact with people.
