C.J. visited our home to clean our chimney, which hadn’t been used or cleaned in years. He did a phenomenal job cleaning our chimney, in a friendly and professional manner. Thanks so much for such great service! We’ll be contacting this company again!

Greatly pleased with Carmine and Bill’s work. Came on time and were very efficient and polite. Great customer service and gave us their honest report without trying to oversell unlike some companies. Will be our go to chimney and HVAC company from now on.

Due to weather and other issues, it may have been hard to schedule them, but once they arrived they did a great job on my chimney. They gave me an excellent price on a damper. They were very quick and clean.

Had a breezy chimney due to no damper. These guys diagnosed the problem and had the parts on the truck to fix the problem. Will definitely be calling them next year to clean and maintain the chimney!

Colonial Chimney is a horrible and unorganized company. There is an old lady who answers the phone. She is in and out of the office, so if you are calling their number (202) 748‑3095 you have a slim chance of catching her. I’ve called them about 20 times and I’ve gotten her on the phone about 4 times. Don’t bother leaving a message because they do not listen to it and will not call you back. I’ve left 4 messages giving them details and asking for confirmation but they never call back.
So here’s my story. I purchased a livingsocial deal for a chimney inspection/​cleaning. After a few tries, I was able to get someone on the phone and set up an appointment for Saturday November 22. On that day nobody showed up. There was no call to inform us of any cancelation. I called them and she told me that the technician’s truck had broken down. She did not seem sympathetic. She rescheduled for Wednesday December 10^th. I called the day before to confirm to that they are coming. After a few tries, I got her on the phone. Mornings between 9 – 11 seem to be the best time to get someone on the phone. She said that my appointment was on Saturday December 13^th. I told her that that was incorrect, however, I told her to keep that date.
The day before the appointment, Friday, she called me and said that there were too many appointments in Northern Virginia and that she would need to reschedule. I informed her that Colonial Chimney has already missed one appointment, screwed up another appointment, and is now trying to reschedule again. I informed her that I should be a priority and want to keep my appointment because of all the conflicts. She said she could not, which does not make any sense to me. I informed her that if there is another scheduling conflict that I would cancel and go with another company. She apologized and said she understood. We scheduled our appointment for Wednesday December 17^th.
Today ¹²⁄₁₇ at 8:25 AM, the day of the appointment, she called me to say that there was an issue with the owner and he has closed the business for the next two days. She asked that I reschedule to Saturday the 20^th. Are you serious??? First of all, I understand that it is not this lady’s fault, however, she plays some part in my issue with the company. She does not return calls, listens to messages, and made mistakes scheduling my appointment. Second of all, the company is unorganized and unprofessional. If your truck breaks down, you have an obligation to call all your clients for that day to inform them that you will not make it. That is called common sense or common courtesy. I have changed my work schedule to accommodate this company and I’ve lost hundreds of dollars from missing work or coming in late or taking time off. Please do not go with this company. It seems like there is one or two technicians running around aimlessly MD and VA and an old receptionist who does a mediocre job scheduling appointments.

I can’t really rate their chimney sweep services since they didn’t keep their appointments. I first scheduled in November and received no call to inform me they weren’t coming. I had to follow up with them and they informed me they were closed due to the weather. Thanks for letting me know. I scheduled again for today for a window of 1 – 4 and asked if they could call me to confirm we’re still on and if they could come closer to 1 since we have evening plans and need to leave around 4. No call, no show. My husband altered his work schedule both times to be home to meet them. We shouldn’t have to work so hard to give them our business. I have submitted a refund request to Living Social since it seems this will never happen.

Do not book this company even if you have a Groupon/​Living Social deal! We tried to schedule service for weeks. They finally got back to us and scheduled us more than a month after we purchased the deal. They didn’t show up that day and when I called to inquire, they said they called and rescheduled for later that week (which they never did) and we were not even available on the new date. We agreed on a date another two weeks from that time, and then the day of the appointment they called to cancel again and offered a date two weeks from then… which would be two months after we first purchased the deal! By the way, this was after MANY unanswered phone messages and emails.

I purchased a voucher on LivingSocial on 20 Oct 2014. I scheduled my appointment on 21 October 2014. The first appointment was a no call, no show. The second appointment, the tech couldn’t make it to the house because of an «Emergency» at another location. The third appointment, which I was assured would be «Top Priority», was also a no call, no show. It is now 2 December 2014 and I’ve been waiting almost two months to use my fireplace, since we just moved into a new home. I’m giving up with this company and not recommending it for anyone with an immediate need (this year).

I purchased a voucher on LivingSocial for an inspection and cleaning. My other half took off for the appointment and had the tech cancel midmorning day of the appointment. Called the company office to reschedule. Date of the next appointment and no tech. I called the company office and I am told that the appointment was added to the main calendar but not assigned to a tech. They couldn’t send anyone and wanted us to take yet another day off of work.
Third time is the charm as a tech FINALLY shows up. He shines a flashlight in the main fireplace area but doesn’t bother looking up the chimney. Less than 15 minutes later the tech is out the door saying the chimney has been inspected and cleaned.
The tech hands us a basic form that didn’t even say what work was completed and we had to ask for him to write chimney cleaned and inspected. Our HOA requires a yearly inspection.
The company form doesn’t list their license number or address. My first name is spelled wrong. The whole experience was unprofessional.
