The best place to get your cart worked on. Jose is truly the best and that’s not an understatement. He went well above what I expected him to do. Not only did he fix my car but he did it right and he did it to my budget, which wasn’t much. You can tell him and his crew aren’t in this to rip people off but they’re here to help people get their cars fixed properly and for the right price. I’m so happy I took my car here. It’s hard to find a mechanic you can trust and now he’s got not only my trust but my business with my car and my families car as well. Jose thank you for everything. You saved my blue beast and did it with me being able to afford to support my wife and 3 girls. If you think this is a fib please feel free to respond and I’ll tell you the same over again. To bad there isn’t a 6 star button for those companies that take it to a whole other level cause Jose, his staff and MTZ deserve 6 stars easily.

Called this place to get pricing on a starter change and spoke with José, he quoted me 120 over the phone and was told it would be done by days end if I brought it in. I had our car towed to the place and dropped it off. A little after we dropped it off, he called us back and said there was a car in the bay they couldn’t move and said it would be done by the following day. Fine. Next day comes around and we had to call to find out if the car was done or not. So upon arrival, we tried to use there $ 75 for $ 50 Unilocal deal and jose said that since we were a new customer he had already given us the deal. (I knew there was no way he knew we were new customers just from a phone quote) so I asked him for an invoice. He walked back in to the shop and came back out and said his printer was out of ink and that he could email it to us in a couple of days. Seven days later and still no invoice. I am unsure of what kind of business is being run here but this place wreaks of dishonesty. Services were not performed in a timely manner and blatantly lying to customers about promotions available.

Long story short — The owner here is awesome. Knowledgeable, super friendly, and HONEST. He does what he needs to do to fix your car issues, and does it with a smile. He doesn’t try to upsell or overcharge you. He’s happy to help, it is obvious that he values repeat business and referrals over charging an arm and a leg.
I’ve had my car fixed here, and while I was quoted over around $ 1000 at other shops, MTZ quoted me around 600.
When my fiancé’s car’s air conditioning went out, Firestone penny and dimed us, suggested other items that they said «needed» fixing, and quoted us $ 1500…MTZ was able to do it for around $ 600!
I just wish MTZ was a bit closer to where I live, but thats my problem, not theirs, because driving here is totally worth the customer service and the money saved.

Been coming here for all my mechanic needs. From my car, to my friends and family the owner has taken care of us. His prices are reasonable, and explains everything that he will be doing to the car. Shows you the parts he removed and the new ones before installing. Any questions you have he answers. Really puts your mind at ease because you know exactly what you’re getting. Like I said in a different post there are two things you need in life, a good plumber and an honest mechanic. This is the spot.

A co-worker’s close friend recommended Jose Martinez, and I was so grateful! I got the run around at the dealership, incredulous labour costs at Dan’s Auto (where I’ve had good work done before) and both Hiro’s (Torrance) and Jim’s (Long Beach) didn’t want to work on my car. (they did apologise furiously, and I did manage to get them to agree on some of the work, but not all of it)
I needed a 100k tune-​up + new radiator on my clean and well taken care of 2001 CR-​V, that I had just driven cross country. Besides the dirt and the uncommon rust from the East coast, Jose took me in no problem (most CA mechanics are terrified of a little bit of rust)
I will premise this review with the fact that I know my car stuff. I know what she needed, and did my research on parts/​labour/​procedure. I was going to take care of it myself till I landed up here. Jose had the most competitive pricing in the area — and I checked everywhere between Hermosa and Long Beach. Dealerships ($$$) to mom-​and-​pop shops ($) and then MTZ ($/​2) He worked with me on what I needed, breaking up the service by time and money as was convenient for me. He was polite, and honest, adjectives that don’t usually go with mechanics, and I am so grateful to have found someone that I will brag about to my friends and co-​workers and will definitely be going back to for all my large service projects.
I would like to emphasize here that they deserve 5+ stars, even though everything did not go perfectly with my service.
1. Being a little rusty, a bolt snapped while Jose replaced the belts, and the car had to be kept overnight; but he took care of all the costs, detailed my engine as a bonus (did I mention the cross-​country dirt and grime?), and knocked off some labour charge because he didn’t make the deadline he promised.
2. A couple of days down, another bolt snapped on the tension pulley, and he immediately took full responsibility, organized and covered the tow and worked into the night to fix it up.
It’s been a week and she’s running great. I checked all the work and parts and know he did a good and honest job. I was especially glad for the pleasant attitude and honest service. He kept me posted and answered his phone at all times — even taking pictures as he worked on it to show me the issues and the progress.
Tell all your friends about this spot. It’s an easy-​to-​miss entrance near the Gardena car-​wash, only two spots in the garage, but he he’ll get it on the lift and out of there fast!
Did I mention any engine service gets a free oil change too?

Went here on a referral with a coupon to have AC service. Mechanic did a good job, didn’t try to up charge me. Honesty and integrity very much appreciated don’t find that with a lot of mechanics these days!
