Advanced DDS

VERY fearful of dental work! The start of the large amount of work needing to be done went well. Dr. D’Orlando was very patient and understanding even though I’d forgotten the «rules» and had had a full glass of water about an hour and a half before. So, instead of the full sedation, he did mild sedation and added nitrous oxide to help keep me calm. The extraction, bone graft, and debridement went well. The doctor even called me later on to make sure I was okay! And my husband was very happy with the large chocolate chip cookie he got at the office, too. LOL

This place is total rip off. I had a very bad experience with them they give you gift with a small toothpaste and some small light who cares. Then they give a tour of the office I am sorry I care less who is who, I just need my job done that’s it. I don’t know need to know everyone’s name there. They aren’t in the network so they tell you to pay upfront and they insurance reimburse you. Their price are just way too high and insurance won’t reimburse the same amount they can charge whatever they want but insurance has certain codes that they follow. End of story if I walk into the doctors office I have insurance I don’t mind paying co– pay but why do I have to pay upfront. Good luck

What a rip-​off!!! Beware of their tactics. I made an apt. to have deep root cleaning of my mouth, half in Dec. and half in Jan. for ins. purposes so that I don’t exceed my deductible for this year and next. They had me sign a consent advising me my ins. co. would pay for my whole mouth now, after the work, they wanted $ 1,000 upfront, advising me they were not sure my ins. will cover it all. Is that even legal??? To dupe your patient like that. Been coming here for 10 yrs, management better get their act together. Haven’t hear the end from me.

Dr. Thomas really cares about patients and went above and beyond to help me with my invisalign treatment. I had previously worked with another dentist and had difficulty obtaining medical records from that office. Dr. Thomas helped me clerically and dentally. He is intelligent and helpful!

Furthermore, I remember advanced DDS when they were a small office run in my local town on Long Island. And not only that, but the only «gift» they gave was a soft baked cookie from Mrs. Fields… none of this care package gift basket nonsense. Also, useless monogrammed loot aside, I was met by an entourage of women that I had to shake hands with and be introduced to, and then I was taken on a tour of their office and everyone stopped and waved hello to me like I was on a factory tour at Hershey Park.
While you wait before your appointment, they have a fully stocked refrigerator complete with Starbucks carbonated drinks and bottled iced coffee, Pellegrino water and juice, orange juice and how could we forget the cappuccino machine!
Isn’t it contradictory to your craft and expertise to be serving coffee, sugary and artificially colored drinks and carbonated drinks to your clients minutes before they enter your room for a cleaning or procedure? Pretty sure you never served that with your cookies years ago.
One last thing. Whoever is hired to write the rebuttals to genuine reviews and experiences at advanced DDS needs another job. How dare you try and defend what happened to someone and then write up a list of reasons why it may have happened or how you wish them all the best of luck and success in their future endeavors. Good business builds from their flaws and failures, they don’t sit around and try and defend them. I hope this review is helpful! Rebuttal person, don’t waste your time on me.

Received a gift card as a reward for paying full price plus for work done to my wife’s teeth. Oh what a joy. NOT! After swearing that the gift card would cover the price of a cleaning for myself, my suspicions were confirmed that this was truly the old shell game reconstituted. The catch was the examination fee was equal to the cleaning price. Naturally as expected I could not get a cleaning without this prior examination after driving 50 miles each way in my gas guzzling sports car. The V8 twin turbo seemed ok when I bought it. LOL
Avoid these deceptive practices by going to a reputable dentist with high moral values that cares what happens to their customers. Beware of this Trojan horse. Hopefully they will learn, «Pigs get slaughtered»
PS My wife called prior to the scheduled appointment to confirm the price and was told specifically that it would cost $ 130.00 total. I am the impugned party in this sad affair and good ethics would provide for an accurate quotation to actual accrued cost of proposed services rendered

Best dentist that I’ve gone to in years. So happy I was recommended to this office. I am not a fan of dentists office, but this office made everything so easy to deal with and the staff was so friendly. They try their best to work with you in anyway possible. Dr. Sashi is great.

So far wonderful. No complaints. Staff was excellent. Made me feel very welcomed.
I have a extraction this weekend, praying all goes well. Will follow up :)

ABSOLUTELY recommend this dentist office to absolutely EVERYONE! I wish all doctors offices were run this efficient and courteous! Dr. Christina for children has FOREVER changed my 9 year old daughters opinion of going to the dentist! This office as its staff are WONDERFUL! My only regret is that I wish I had found them sooner.

For a person who was petrified of dentists Advanced DDS changed all of that. No more fear. Dr. Thomas is wonderful as is the staff. Never have to wait. Caring staff extremely professional. I would recommend them for anyone who waste quality care

I SHOULD’VE LISTENED TO THE HORRIBLE REVIEWS BEFORE WASTING MY TIME HERE!!! YOU’VE BEEN WARNED! …I made an emergency appt at Advance DDS earlier this wk after I got a bad infection & needed a root canal. I only went here because they advertised that they did IV sedation & i was petrified of being awake for this root canal due to the pain I was in. I was already burned from another dentist, (Dr. Rory Stutman in Massapequa), so I called here & got the info 1^st before going in. Secretary here told me IV sedation was $ 350 & that they took my insurance. I was totally fine w/​the $ 350 out of pocket for the sedation & actually thrilled. Well… let me TELL YOU… I was in for a TOTALLY different experience when I walked in. 1^st of all, when you walk in this place you feel like you’re on vacation w/​their whole set up they’ve got going on… I had 3 different «concierge» girls show me their «beverage center», offer me drinks while I wait, give me «tours of the office» & try to upsell me different things. I told them very politely several times, «I don’t have a million dollars to spend here & I just want a root canal & IV sedation.» They walked me into my «private suite» where I had a HUGE gift bag and a «welcome pack» waiting for me on a private couch & 2 different girls told me this was my «New patient welcome gift.» Inside of it was a mouthwash, tooth paste & a huge, velour blanket with «Advance DDS» on it. I thanked them & couldn’t believe the special treatment, but also started getting a little nervous that they expected more $ from me. Long story short, after meeting with Dr. Tony Thomas and going over my root canal and IV sedation, I was walked back to the counter to book my appt. Well, the secretary there, «Maria Andramuno», then prints me up a bill for $ 3,305!!! I reminded her that I have insurance that they take and she says «yes, but we need this from you.» I asked her to clarify again and she insisted that I have to pay them $ 3,305!!! I WAS TOTALLY IN SHOCK! Maria was also rude and n insisted that this was fair like I was crazy! UNLESS YOU HAVE TONS OF MONEY TO BLOW FOR NO REASON, GO ELSEWHERE! DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE LIKE I DID!!! …By the way, I then found Dr. Gottlieb in Levittown and he did an AMAZING job on my root canal this week — NO pain and I didn’t have to pay even $ 1 there! He took my insurance in full and didn’t BS me like Advance DDS did!

My daughters first went here because she had a fear of dentists because of past experiences with dentist. The first root canal she needed was a good experience. But after that they gave her an estimate of over 4000.00 worth of work. She went for a second opinion and most of the work they told her she needed was a complete lie! Please go for second opinions!!!

This is my second time visiting Advanced DDS in Garden City. I always have a great experience while there. There was no question when I had to choose a dentist for my 4 yr old daughter that she would also be a patient of theres’. Dr. Raskin and dental hygienist Wendy are always very pleasant and welcoming. My daughter saw Dr. DiOrlando and assistant Miriam. I could ask for a better team. They were amazing. It is definitely worth the commute from Brooklyn.

A very shady place. When you call for prices you get the run around, uuuhhh, wwweee’lllll. I had made an appointment but after getting this price run around (again), I decided to call other places. I called this office back to try to compare but found out even after I explained everything, that the appointment I had wasn’t to take care of my prob., but for an evaluation. I told these people I was told by my dr. And dentist I needed emergency surgery on an abscess, not an evaluation today and emergency surgery another day. When I called to try to compare, the girl on the phone was being so rude and bugging me asking me if I’m coming in, I said let me call back, she insisted I tell her right then and there, wouldnt give me time to think about it, saying in a nasty way, other people are waiting! I was in his other office once before for a problem, instead on focusing on the problem, I get this crazy bill on what needs to be done in the future, including cosmetics. These people only care about the money.
This time I ended up at LI oral on Middle Country in selden and these guys had no prob. Giving prices and so far I’ve seen 2 surgeons and both were very nice, funny, gentle and did a great job, I feel great. The girls at the desk are great, no b.s. they offer sedation & gas if needed. My family’s new go to.

I want to take a minute and compliment Dr. Thomas, he was truly an A+. He quickly took care of my dental needs and made me feel so comfortable. My husband and I were both thrilled with this trip to the dentist and I never thought I would say that!

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This is my short version of what happened with Advanced DDS. Information is a combination of the way I see it, and information taken from Advanced DDS’ BBB response.
I visited Dr Raskin on Feb 20^th, and my wife Feb 27^th. We were both new patients with Advanced DDS. While we experienced pretty good service while there, they completely dropped the ball when it came to providing estimates of reimbursement from my insurance.
The financial coordinator and staff there called my insurance company to verify coverage on 3 separate occasions. My insurance company told them they are out of network, and would reimburse a percentage of the allowed amounts my insurance company allows. Advanced DDS took this as my insurance company will cover a percentage of their entire bill.
So, a roughly $ 300 estimated reimbursement each for my wife and I (WHICH I HAVE IN WRITING FROM ADVANCED DDS) was only approximately $ 145 for me, and $ 48 for my wife because Advanced DDS also messed up her claim. They didn’t indicate she was my wife!
The staff REFUSE to let me speak to Dr Raskin, with their financial coordinator saying he does not make the financial decisions, she does. It’s hard to believe a business owner can’t make decisions for his own business. They also refuse to do anything other than say «sorry, there’s nothing we can do». It’s hard to believe a responsible business wouldn’t try to work with their patient, when it was the office who made a mistake.
I am currently disputing this with the BBB, and am pursuing other actions.
Based off my experience, I would NOT recommend using the services of Advanced DDS.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Raskin for over 10 years. Great practice. Starting with their punctuality. Don’t recall ever waiting more than five minutes for my appointment (rare with any medical practice, in my experience). Office always has the newest technology and equipment. Beyond routine cleanings and fillings I’ve needed a couple of crowns over the years and Dr. Raskin is an artist! Never had a problem with the work done. Highly recommended!
