Cadence at Crown

I have to be honest, I was really surprised to see some of the reviews for Cadence. Let me give you a little background, I was born in a time — No I’m kidding
I am going through a divorce so was forced to downsize from my nice and spacious home and find an apartment that was reasonably priced and didn’t make me feel like I was going to miss my home. I wanted upscale appliances, nice amenities, clean space, friendly staff, the whole 9 yards. Mind you, I have lived in apartments and I know nothing will be perfect, but I am pretty picky.
Staff: Since I have moved in, and I have had several friends who were and currently live here, the staff have been really generous with their time, available to assist, and seem to expedite the requests I have made. Maybe its an attitude thing, but I have received impeccable service from each and every encounter.
Apartment: Finishes are nicely done, although some materials are more builder grade than a nicely done town or single family, for an apartment and for the price, the stainless steel, the granite, back space and finishes are great. The drop lighting is a nice touch above my island.
Sound proofing was very nicely done in and among the units. I face the Pour House which can be heard at night, but the white noise is something I expected moving to such a location. The convenience of having shops downstairs is why I moved there.
Parking: Parking at Crown sucks, but the resident garage has an ample number of spots. The only complaint is I am unable to purchase a particular spot, but so far, I have had no problems parking my car in a spot I wanted.
Complaints: Only 2 things bother me, I can not get an extra key for my cleaning woman or a guest, she must go the leasing office to be let in. Secondly, I can not get a second garage pass. I sometimes borrow a bigger car from a family member to move, or when I had my bed delivered, they had to park on the first floor. (I wish the consierge hours were more like some of the other complexes, 6am — midnight would be great, but not a huge deal for me).
All around — A+

Fire alarms. Ear — piercing industrial style alarms. Sometimes daily for up to an hour, sometimes once a week. Occasionally you’ll have a week off, but not often. Sadly, with competent management this could be avoided as emergency services is always notified of testing. However, management and leasing is staffed with vapid high school drop-​outs who can’t manage a ham sandwich. Move right in if you value neither your hearing or sanity.

Interiors are constructed with the cheapest materials possible. Walking down the hallways you can hear EVERYTHING happening in everyone’s apartment, and I really do mean everything. If you wish to live here you must be ok with pet urine/​feces in the elevators and hallways at times. I’ve learned not to step on the edge of the carpet that meets the cheap laminate floor (not hardwood like some other reviewer states) in the kitchen so as to not be stabbed by a nail in the tack strip.
For the first 4 months I lived here there were a handful of stolen cars parked in the parking garage with no license plates and busted out windows. They did finally get removed after numerous complaints by residents. Management called them «eye soars» but I viewed it more as a haven for criminal activity as nothing was done about it for so long.
At times the stench of backed up sewage permeates the corridors and the units for which management and the actual maintenance staff have differing ‘opinions’ as to why that is or how to address it. I have given up on contacting them to address it but it’s quite embarrassing having people over with that smell hanging in the air. If that’s a luxury Cadence provides it’s one I can do with out.
I pay near $ 40 a month for water and I’m just one person. The electric bill is the same regardless of how much of it you use (went on vacation for two weeks with near zero usage and still received a bill for the same amount as usual.
The sales people are indeed poorly trained, do not follow up as instructed per their manager, and their retention rate is at nearly zero percent just in the handful of months I’ve been here, which honestly may not be a bad thing as they spread your private info to other residents. Management is so so. She responds quickly but deflects most any issues. I’m sure corporate loves her but she is not tenant friendly.
All in all you’re paying for location. Is it worth it? In my humble opinion only temporarily due to proximity to the shops downstairs. I’ve lived at other Buzzuto run properties and Cadence is a clown show compared to them. Counting down to the end of my lease!
PS Dana (management), don’t feel the need to publicly invite me to sit down and talk again in order to A) give the public the perception that you care and B) that there is anything you can do to change any of these issues (except for getting the stolen cars moved) unless you wish to stop hiding behind your «residents talk, and trust me they talk» explanation of how my private information was disseminated with out my consent. We’ve spoken and you’ve made your position very clear.

I lived at Cadence for nine months, and the experience was fantastic. I looked at every apartment and condo building in a 10-​mile radius before leasing here. Units aren’t cheap, but the property is worth every penny. Leasing staff are very attentive, the building is beautiful, and the amenities are great — a first-​rate gym, nice little game room, gorgeous common areas, and a pool. There were some teething problems, due to it being new construction, but nothing awful. It’s true that the parking garage gate is often stuck open, but I never had an issue because of it. Easiest thing to do is drive through the gate that’s up — it will go down after you pass.

Your reply is meaningless. It does not cover all of the issues I listed and it does not change the facts. Having a gate that does not lower and lock is yet another fake item that you have. It should go down after each car enters and require a password or access card in order for it to raise and allow a car through.
You are asking too much money for your units.
Your customer service is lacking.
Your employees in your leasing office are not fully trained. I watched one of them take three tries to fill out a letter sized form for a customer. She tore the first two tries in half due to math errors.

Just moved in, and I can’t say how much I enjoy walking home from Ruth’s Chris. The place is immaculate. My kitchen is huge and can accommodate anywhere from 6 – 8 people standing in it at any given time. They pick your trash up 5 days out of the week. The yoga studio, gym, entertainment room, conference room, library, courtyard, pool, and Internet café are just gorgeous. Customer service is paramount in any apartment complex, and they took care of all of my questions pre and post-​move. It’s also really great for my dogs, and having tile in my entry way along with my own laundry room is like dying and going to heaven. They even have a dog playroom and dog wash room in the works! Seriously, living here is dying and going to heaven. Someone pinch me.

I have lived here since September 2014 and my experience here at Cadence has been an absolute pleasure. I’m a little suspicious of the other review from Sonya. I live on the fifth floor so I cannot attest to how much noise comes from above but I have never heard any sounds from my neighbor next door. I even tested my sound system with my him and he said he never hears anything. My hardwood floors are also of great quality as I have been told I have a heavy step (darn my dense bones!) but the person below me has also never complained.
I don’t know why Sonya is complaining about the location of the trash chute since they take out the trash FOR YOU (Sunday through Thursday at 8pm in case she was unaware). Fire alarms used to be tested during the day when the Ruth’s Chris was being constructed but that is no longer an issue (they would also warn you beforehand).
They hold nice events for you to get to know your neighbors. Examples include: pool party with BBQ and drinks hosted by some cruise company, pizza parties, free breakfast in the lobby, football tailgating, etc. All the staff members are really friendly and always address you with a smile.
The only true thing about Sonya’s review is the price, and is the only reason why this is a 4 star review instead of 5. I am paying $ 1900 for a 1 bedroom which is a little higher than other places but I also understand I’m paying for location. I am able to walk to LA Fitness to work out, Harris Teeter to buy groceries to fuel up, get my hair cut at Floyd’s, happy hour hop between Ruth’s Chris, Downtown Crown, Paladar, and Asia Nine, and lastly go to Wells Fargo because I spent all my money on all the locations nearby. All of this and more is within walking distance. You get what you pay for.
The apartment itself is awesome. Best apartment gym I have seen in a long time (this coming from a gym junkie: see my check ins). There is also a yoga studio that you can load videos from trainers if you’re into that sort of thing. Free coffee and tea during office hours. I stop by after work to get my caffeine fix. The community is beautifully kept. Any issues that I have had were promptly resolved. Overall, one of the best apartment communities I have lived in in a while and I hope to be able to stay.
