Residence Inn Gainesville I-75

I travel to Gainesville quite frequently for business and always stay here. The staff is amazingly nice and the whole hotel is recently renovated so everything is super clean and modern. No matter how frequent or infrequent my business travels take me there, everyone at the Residence Inn Gainesville makes me feel like family and like they saw me just yesterday… especially David! He always has a smile on his face and ready to lend a hand with whatever it may be!

Why not start off 2016 with a review of the place where I’ve been frequenting during training of my new job (that’s why I was MIA from Unilocal for the last two months of 2015)… but anyway, I like the Residence Inn over the other few I’ve stayed at in Gainesville for week long stays because of the amenities this hotel provides that are perfect for such long stays.
I always get the studio suite since it’s just me, and I love the fact that there are kitchenettes with burners, a full size fridge, and even a dishwasher (!) to cook your own food so you’re not tempted to go out on Archer Rd and get something fast and unhealthy (and well, I am trying to stick to one of my New Years resolutions…).
The suites are equipped with everything you need to also cook: pots, frying pan, dishes and silverware, and even free microwave popcorn! (I’m being serious.) There is a desk and a small seating area, and in the studio suite the TV is on a swivel, so you can watch TV in bed or while lounging on the couch. There is plenty of sink space for your toiletries and the bed so really comfortable, to the point where I have struggled to get up a few times to get to training on time.
Monday through Wednesday the hotel has complimentary bites and light food during the evening, so forget trying to figure out what to eat for dinner! Plus there may be free wine and beer available on one of those nights as well. Breakfast is pretty good and there’s a nice variety, such as scrambled eggs, cereal, fruit and yogurt parfait, muffins and make your own waffles.
There is plenty of parking, but it gets filled quickly and it can be a walk to the lobby depending on how far you have to park. The small fitness center is ok, there are weights, two treadmills and the elliptical. The two treadmills are a bit shaky, so I’ve been sticking to the elliptical when I need to get my workout in. The best part is that there are TVs attached to the cardio equipment. There is also a laundry facility and an outdoor pool.
Staff are very friendly and will answer any questions you may have. One in particular, Jodi, is really awesome and have been great with helping me out if I had an issue.
This hotel is ideal for long term stays, and who can’t say no to FREE FOOD when they offer it during the week nights?!

The 2 room suite was spacious and clean. Had a great time. The hotel was clean and the staff was nice and accommodating.

Incredible Residence Inn!!! The staff has been amazing and even offered to walk or babysit our dogs during our stay. They went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The room was awesome, very clean and full of any thing and every thing we could ever need or want. Truly enjoyed every aspect of our stay. Most hotels that are dog friendly don’t make you really feel welcome BUT this Residence Inn did and that speaks volumes to those of us who travel with pets. Thank you for one of the best Marriott stays we’ve ever had. And I stay at Marriotts throughout the SE. Great job!!!

Very Pet Friendly
We only stayed 1 night here while our dog was being treated at UF Animal Hospital, there aren’t many options in Gainesville for nice accommodations so we took a chance with the Residence Inn. I have to say I was happily surprised, check-​in was easy and the staff was very friendly and accommodating to us and our dog. Our room was impeccable, it had a small kitchen with a fridge sink and stovetop, fully stocked cabinet with plates, pots and pans and silverware, a small living room with a TV, king bed, another TV and well lit vanity and bathroom. This hotel is far from a resort type hotel, but we found it comfortable for 1 night. They serve complimentary breakfast, have a gym and pool. The staff really won us over, they were professional and very attentive.

Hotel was nice, but we inadvertently left a HEPA filter in our room after checkout and called in a few hours and they allegedly couldn’t find it. Really? Disappointed and kinda mad that someone there evidently stole the air filter our kids used. For that, I can’t recommend this place unless you can lock up your valuables.

Room is clean and spacious even with studio layout. Breakfast starts at 6:30am, make sure you get there early as it can get full easily. The coffee area is in the corner which is kinda difficult to maneuver if there is anyone in front/​next to you. Be careful when buying items from the market as I bought the soup and discovered it’s already expired, thank God I check the expiration date before open it. I returned the item and they refund the price although it took them a while to figure out the return process.

Only spent one night and one breakfast here. Breakfast was reasonably well serviced with fresh fruit, cottage cheese, and yogurt (see photos). HOWEVER, how can a guest feel good about a place with dirt & mold growing on the building, right outside my 4^th floor window (see photos)!!! It makes you suspect the cleanliness elsewhere on property.
Pricing is very opportunistic as it happened to be graduation weekend, so rates were through the roof ($ 279/nt…whatever the market can bear). Thankfully I had a Marriott certificate for a free night (category 1 – 4).

I’ve been here for several days now. Upon arrival at 4:00PM we were told our room were not ready yet and had to wait while they were cleaned.
The Front Desk staff is very pleasant which is always a nice thing. The reason for the 3* is because of the gym at this location… it’s pitiful. I understand you give passes for Anytime Fitness but it’s very inconvenient. It’s an extended stay type of hotel — there should be a decent gym to work out in.

First night — sheets had blood stains. Manager dropped off new sheets, but did not change them. After manager dropped off sheets he left for the night, and subsequent manager stated policy was that they could not man the desk and tend to the rooms alone. So, I proceeded to replace the sheets only to find out the sheets that were dropped off were the wrong size sheets. Being a Marriott Elite rewards member, I at least expected Marriott to carry out their most basic duties — housekeeping.

Such a wonderful staff! They made me feel very welcome during my 2 month stay for work.

I understand this is probably geared toward those needing extended days in a hotel, but even though we were here for a night, we LOVED it.
As a little family with a baby girl, we needed a little more space than the typical hotel room offers. We had a spacious bathroom with separate sink area and plenty of counter space. I was extremely happy with the bed because it was so soft, the pillows were plush, and sheets were so crisp. The uplighting of the bed when we walked in looked like something out of a movie star’s suite… so classy. There was a short dresser in front of the bed that doubled as a TV stand for the living room area because the TV swiveled between the two areas. I enjoyed having a couch, big chair, desk, and dining table as all options where we could sit because it gets a little exhausting with a baby when you only have a bed to climb up on when you’re feeding or holding your little one. Since I’m still pumping for my baby girl’s milk, I need a fridge and I can’t tell you how upset I get when hotels don’t at least have mini fridges and I have to use ice buckets. I loved having the large fridge! Even though we didn’t need to use it, I was also impressed the kitchen had 2-​burner stove because when I visit here in the future, it’ll feel more like home to cook a meal than just hearing something in the microwave. It’s not so much the room was soooo large as much as it is that the hotel did a great job at designing the floor plan so there was no wasted space. All decorations were very upscale but wasn’t limited to the room, but continued throughout whole hotel and into the lobby as well.
And the free breakfast… let me tell you about the free breakfast!!! Wow! There were lots of choices between the eggs that weren’t runny, stone-​ground oatmeal with choice of toppings, grits, seasoned potatoes, yogurt bar, toast and bagels complete with jam and NUTELLA packages, coffee, juice, and although the bacon could have been thicker, the sausage was pretty good. You had a couple big-​screen TVs in the swanky seating area you could watch as you ate your meal.
The man at the check-​in desk was very hospitable and when we unexpectedly had to stay another night, the staff was very nice. I also liked the fact that they had a welcome reception in the evening with complimentary beer and wine, FREE wi-​fi, outdoor swimming pool, and a fire pit outside with cushy seating. I would say this is the best of all lower-​volume hotels to which I’ve visited because for less than $ 130/​night, it was such an amazing value. Can’t wait to go back!

We checked in at 4 pm, but they couldn’t find a 2-​bedroom which we reserved. They weren’t booked; however none of them were clean in the system. After waiting they found a room. I dropped the luggage and we returned around 10 pm. Had it not been so late and the fact that we had small children, we would have checked-​out. The carpets were dirty and badly stained, one of the pillow cases was dirty and had not been changed. I thought it may be stained but after trying to clean it, it was what appeared to be a blood stain and it hadn’t been washed. There was also a towel in the bathroom that was not folded, thrown over the towel rack that wasn’t clean. The tv in one of the bedrooms didn’t work because there was no power in any of the outlets on that side of the room. The breakfast in the morning was awful and barely edible eggs and sausage. The bagels were stale. We endured this place because we had no options so late and I changed the dirty bedding with the extra set in the closet as I didn’t want anyone coming in and wake my children. In the morning I told the front desk clerk about the problems and gave her the dirty pillow case. Her response was «ok.» This place is not up to the standards of a Marriott Residence Inn. Marriott needs to pull their brand flag from this franchise.

My family and I came here to meet up with extended family. We usually stay elsewhere for a little cheaper but I feel you do get a lot more for your money here. The outside deck and area are great especially with the fire-​pit and sofas to relax in.
Check in was easy and staff extremely friendly. We got a regular room on the 5^th floor. Since it was the top floor we had 10 foot high ceilings which made the room feel much more spacious. Don’t get me wrong for a hotel room this was larger than normal but it made it feel a lot bigger.
We enjoyed having a full kitchen and separate bathroom sink from the shower and toilet.
Breakfast had many more options than other Brands such as Hampton and Country Inn (granted those are about $ 15 – 20 cheaper, guess u get what u pay for). Eggs, bacon, corn dogs, fresh fruits and some limited veggie topping (today was salsa and green onions which made it nice to make the eggs tex mex style with sour cream and cheddar cheese). Make your own waffles, yogurt parfait with fresh fruit and granola. Some pastry items as well as toast & bagels with all the fixings.
Check out was easy, we just left the keys in the room. All in all a very good experience.

I was pretty happy with the accommodations. The king studio was more than enough space for a single person, but might be cramped for two. The kitchen included a full size fridge, two burners, a microwave, coffee maker and toaster. The ice maker in the fridge didn’t work. Breakfast is included.

We only stay at Marriotts for the most part, so I tend to compare them to each other.
This Marriott is directly off I-​75, it has a Target and Publix in close proximity.
Check in was smooth, the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. We got up to the room around 3:30 and immediately turned down the a/​c as the room was hot. The room was spacious and clean. I love when the toilet is separate from the sink so one person was get ready while the other showers without getting hot from the steam of the shower. The kitchen was great, had everything you need for an extended stay. We went out and ran some errands and got back aroun 5. The room was still extremely hot. We had to get ready for a wedding, long dressfor me and a tux for him. We were sweating like crazy. On our way our we stopped and asked the front desk if this was normal. He explained that this was an eco-​friendly hotel and that the A/​C shuts off between certain hours if there is no motion in the room (each room is equipped with numerous motion detectors) Now that we know, we may shy away from Residence Inn Marriotts that operate this way. I am all for being eco-​friendly, but I don’t enjoy sweating my butt off!
The toilet didn’t flush well, but I won’t really knock them for that because I didn’t take the time to report it since this was just a one night stay.
We asked for extra towel, they took a good hour to arrive.
The breakfast spread was large, many choices were available. The eggs were overdone and not very good, but I was able to fill out on some of the other items offered and those were decent.
We didn’t have a chance to enjoy the patio area, but it looked quite nice. THe lobby area also has a small fireplace that looked nice at night.
Overall, this is a decent hotel, and I would have rated it higher, but the lack of A/​C really doesn’t work well in Florida.

Beautiful rooms… The free food was horrible. The wine and beer selections AMAZING. Staff was helpful and attentive.

Finishing up a lengthy stay here and have been quite pleased with it. Loses one star for a sometimes awkward physical design — many keyed entrances, and the elevator is in one wing but not the other — however everything else is top notch. I was very pleased with the attentive staff and their efforts to foster community in what could just be another anonymous setting, I also have to give a special shout out for their symbiotic relationship with the nearby Swamp Head Brewery, featured in every hotel Happy Hour and well worth the less than five minute walk to check out down the street.

They have complimentary chair-​massages on the 4^th Wednesday of each month, so I was lucky to get a massage 10 minutes after checking in a few days ago.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the gym is accessible ²⁴⁄₇ with a key card. There are only about 3 treadmills and 2 elliptical machines, plus some weights, but they do have an outdoor pool as well.
There’s complimentary breakfast in the lobby, but it’s a little sad. The one morning I tried it, they had scrambled eggs, sausage patties, potato wedges, assorted bagels/​muffins, some cereal and yogurt, and oatmeal. The eggs were good with some salsa, but the oatmeal was mushy and paste-​like, and there was very little fresh fruit available. I suppose it’s free and convenient, but the other 2 Marriott’s I’d stayed at in the past week (in Salt Lake City and Boston) had better food.

Very nice and clean hotel for the price.
We eat hot and delicious breakfast in the spacious and clean breakfast area.
If anyone looking forward around the area for comfortable and friendly hotel, I recommend this hotel.
It’s worth try this hotel. Excellent hotel!
