Sleep Inn & Suites University/Shands

I’ve stayed at three hotels in the Gainesville area and the Sleep In is by far the best economy hotel. The room was clean, large bathroom, and bed very comfortable. Breakfast was typical. The air condition wasn’t loud and noise like the other hotels. I’ll be staying there again.

The room was clean and the staff was very polite and friendly. Their breakfast was pretty good, the bed was extremely comfortable and we had plenty of pillows.

Great location and value. The only problem we had was with the pillows. They all should be thrown away and replaced. Think they are some kind of poly fill that have become worn out. So make sure you bring your own pillow.

Genuinely great hotel for the price. Everything was clean, the people were fantastic, and the location is perfect.
The breakfast in the morning was fantastic. Their breakfast area is under renovation, but it was done well so it didn’t bother, and they had all possible options. They even had a nice selection of things for people who couldn’t stop to ea.
The only downside was that the parking lot didn’t seem large enough, though that could be they had several drivers of large trucks who decided to take up multiple spots.

I recently stayed here with my family while attending my cousin’s graduation. My mom was able to secure a great rate for the rooms even with it being graduation weekend. This hotel is conveniently located right off Archer Road, minutes from 75 and is surrounded by a ton of dining options.
The rooms were spacious and clean, and free wifi was available. They offered a free continental breakfast that even offered eggs, bacon, biscuits & gravy, etc. The breakfast attendant was extremely friendly, and he did a great job making sure there was plenty of food and coffee to go around.
In the lobby, I noticed a sign advertising for Gator football game weekends. During football season, they have a tailgate party and even offer a free shuttle to and from the game. I would definitely consider staying here for a game weekend in the future!

My second trip to Gainesville before we move there. First time we stayed at the UF Hilton. This time, I wanted to spend less and read all the reviews and gambled on the Sleep Inn. Guess what? It beats the Hilton and it’s not even close!
This place is either brand new or they know how to clean. It was so well maintained! We couldn’t be happier with it. The breakfast was very good as well! Not just pastries (not that great) but the eggs, sausage, biscuits, and Canadian bacon were very good!
The service was outstanding! Every time we came back they would say «Welcome back!» And the guy who stations the breakfast room is so nice! We loved seeing him each morning!
The rooms were good size and very clean! The housekeepers did a great job!
We even had to do a load of laundry and they have a washer and dryer ($ 1.50 each). They worked great!
They have a pool but we never used. The only down side is the exercise room. They only have 3 treadmill/​bike machines. No weight machines or dumbbells.
Still, we couldn’t have been happier!

Very clean and up-​to-​date property. Hall carpeting was being replaced. Nice hot breakfast offerings, plus coffee all day and popcorn and cookies at night. Excellent front desk staff. A pleasure staying here. Great free wi-​fi!

Zero complaints. Staff was friendly and helpful, especially Demetry during breakfast hours. Breakfast was typical for a hotel: cereal, eggs (scrambled and boiled), biscuits and gravy, waffles, ham, fruit, etc. The room was clean and everything worked. Free WiFi worked for me, although speeds fluctuated. The AC was super cold (sometimes loud– not really a complaint, just an observation).
Would definitely recommend.

Clean and friendly. Internet available. Parking lot is not RV friendly, but manageable nonetheless.

Nice Staff, very nice room and shower, and fabulous response from the general manager when I had a complaint about the wifi.

So I’ve said in some of my previous reviews, if I am served snacks/​drinks when walking into somewhere (or there placed nearby for my pleasure) you’ve won me. It’s the customer service things like such that get me. As I walked in there was free water, soda, popcorn, and cookies. It’s not much, but its better than 80 percent of most places.
Hotel staff were extremely friendly, and oodled my daughter with much affection, making my daughter comfortable, which isn’t hard to do as she loves hotels. Quick and easy check-​in, with late check-​out available (1pm). Rooms are clean and modern, although beds were a tad stiff for me (that’s obviously my opinion) but were comfortable and sleep was obtained. AAA member save a good amount here as opposed to the nextdoor Motel 6 and other such hotel/​motels around. For the price we got, room was great, service exemplary, and free hot breakfast (eggs, bacon, cereal, waffles, yogurt and the like).

Fantastic place. Looks and feels very new. In fact, I’m writing this from the place right now and both my wife and I are very happy with it.
Rooms have plenty of room, including a closet. Ours has a shower in place of a bathtub, which I like. It also has a moderately-​sized refrigerator and a microwave in the room, which we also appreciate. We haven’t had the (included) breakfast yet, but we’ll try it in the morning. The bed is too hard for my taste, but my wife likes it.
The people working here are friendly and helpful. I’ll DEFINITELY stay here if we come through Gainesville again.
