My little yellow happy car made a scary noise today and I was so scared that it was broken. Thankfully I was really close to TR Ashworth’s! He took my little yellow car in, checked it out, found the problem and fixed it right up!
So thankful to have such a wonderful and trustworthy mechanic right around the corner! Thank you for making my day!!!

This place — a full-​on «service station» smack on Main Street — could almost be a museum exhibit. The beat-​up old TV in the little waiting room is often stuck on Andy Griffith reruns, which makes for a perfect match with the ancient furniture and the dark paneling with yellowed Ashworth family artifacts on the walls.
So how does a place like this stay in business for generations while chain garages with slick product displays and twice the number of bays turn over ownership every few months? By offering honest, consistent, human service. Joe Ashworth and the same core mechanics have been here for years helping meet the car maintenance and repair needs of a super-​loyal set of customers. These guys would have nothing to gain and everything to lose by engaging in any kind of bait-​and-​switch or opportunistic tactics that you always have to be on the alert for at the «name» places.
Ashworth’s has been our default place for oil-​changes, tires, and inspections for years and we’ve been increasingly pleased with the service and the opportunity to support a quality local business, particularly where doing so has not cost us a premium as it sometimes does. Joe does not have a big tire showroom but has access to a full range of brands and has consistently meet or beat out-​the-​door pricing at Tire King and others. Oil-​change and minor repair prices are also more than competitive.
They do have gas pumps — maybe just to keep the BP affiliation? — but I’ve seldom seen anyone buying any and I’m not sure I’d trust the fuel.

I don’t buy gas here — it could be the only «full-​service» gas station left in the country. I do use them for all my auto inspections — a perfect opportunity to step across the street to Stick Boy Bakery. I’ve used them for major and minor auto repair and for tires. They are always professional and I have never been disappointed in the service I receive. One thing I appreciate is that they take the time to understand the vehicle and the type of driving before simply recommending a set of tires. A lot of places will just sell based on price, but at Ashworth’s puts some care into their service.
