Paul is one of the best luthiers in the music world. His bow rehairs last for 6 months of consistent playing. He repaired one of our violins and it was flawless. It sounds incredible. He is reasonable on repairs and rehairs. Paul also makes beautiful violins and cellos. He also sells student instruments. We will drive 3 – 4 hours in each direction just to have him work on our instruments.

Excellent customer service! A bit hard to find because the place is small and though the address says Houston, it is actually on W Ramona St, but glad we found it! The price was great — $ 150 for a violin when I had paid that much to rent it for a year twice before at a different location(which had been a good deal, in my opinion since normally rentals are $ 20 per month). We also got a $ 75 credit to use whenever we need to upgrade it for my daughter, and he said that anytime we needed a new string, we could come in and get it for free. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone looking for a violin!

Shady shady shady. I(ignorantly) purchased an Arcos Brazil bow labeled«A. Schaefer» for ~$ 1000 a few years ago as a spare. Paul sent me on my way with little information about it except for the claim that the bow was made by one of the top bowmakers in Brazil. It does its job, but I recently had it looked at by Robert Cauer in Hollywood(my current luthier, who is highly reputable and used by many professionals in the LA area). Apparently, the bow is made by one of Schaefer’s disciples, not Schaefer himself as Paul had claimed. Comparable bows are valued at half the price I paid at Paul’s Violin. The bow wasn’t a huge investment, but nevertheless I will not return because of the falsified information I was provided. As a previous reviewer pointed out, I don’t recommend this establishment particularly if you don’t speak Korean. Dealing with a language barrier is too risky when you’re working with valuable instruments. This shop might be okay for beginners who just need to get by, but for intermediate-to-advanced players and professionals I highly advise looking elsewhere.

my wife is a violin teacher and instructor since she got out from the univ. according to her, the owner has high-end skills to fix string instruments and the cost is reasonably cheaper than any other stores. also, honesty is one key thing to visit the place again and again.

Excellent violins for children starting to learn to play the instrument… You get the most bang for your buck! Seriously why would you pay 20 bucks a month to rent a violin only because you know your child will soon outgrow the instrumemt. Why go that route when you can get a brand new quality piece for $ 150(all included) sized perfectly for your child and here’s the topper: Paul gives you a $ 75 credit to use on your next violin when it comes time to size up… so you can rent a brand new violin for $ 75 for as long as your child can use it. Why would you need ENGLISH to take advantage of a deal like that???

I am a school music teacher with several decades of experience. I am not a professional string player. Several of my middle school students have purchased instruments here and the quality of his violins, bows and cases is very good. I also had an opportunity to refer the friend of my wife to Paul’s. She was looking to buy her son a beginning outfit and was exceedingly happy with the service and quality of the instrument.
