Mirak is known for their black goat soup. My dad made me try some of his black goat soup. I usually don’t enjoy goat because of its gaminess; however, the dipping sauce that come with the soup really cut into the gaminess. I ordered the beef short rib soup with cabbage, which wasn’t anything special. I feel like they watered down the broth, and they were quite skimpy with the short rib. My sister ordered the soondae soup. It was extremely spicy, so beware! She seemed a bit disappointed, because the soup literally only featured soondae. It was missing the cartilage, intestine, and liver. Mirak has quite an extensive menu, so I would probably be back to try their other dishes.

Delicious and fresh. Glad I found this little place for a variety of hard to find Korean dishes! Great soon tofu and kimchi noodles, too!

This place has a good variety of korean food but its all just ok. I got the soondaeguk(blood sausage stew) and it was ok except they put way too much soondae in there. I got like 15 pieces, like bro do you want me to die. My mom ordered the soondubu and it didn’t taste anything like soondubu so we were really confused? The side dishes were okay but the restaurant itself wasn’t very clean and service was lacking. I would definitely not come back here because there really wasnt anything special.

Every Korean restaurant needs to have something that they’re known for. KHD: Good meat BCD: Soon tofu Mirak: Goat stew. Do you like goat stew? I don’t. But my wife does, and this place specializes in the gamey meat. This is a pricy Korean restaurant(each dish costs about $ 13) and it is a rather old person type of restaurant. It is packed with old Korean people who like to eat stew. If you are looking for the Korean restaurant that appeals to a diverse, non-Korean crowd, I doubt you’d want to come here. But if you love stew, come here. The food itself is good, nothing bad about it at all. I had naengmyun and it was good. Didn’t blow my socks off or anything though. There is a $ 6 menu, but guess what they offer? More stew: soy bean paste, etc. Enjoy your stew!

What can I say about this food? It’s actually one of my favorite Korean foods(black goat soup) from its many many great plates, dishes and soups! Black goat soup is my «anytime» of the day soup that always hits the spot! You can’t go wrong at Mirak, since they specialize in the soup. The location itself actually is very clean and the servers are always on the move, very aware and friendly with service. So everything about the place is good. Plenty of parking space as well, which is awesome. There is a location in LA that is really good, but Mirak(Fullerton) is just as good as LA!

About as good as it gets for Korean after 9PM in Fullerton. This place specializes in goat stew, and the first page has a bunch of moderate-to-high priced goat dishes for 2 – 4 people(i.e. casserole, boiled goat, goat plate.) While we were starving, we didn’t want something that big this late. Fortunately, they serve their lunch menu all day(but after 3PM they add $ 1.(Still reasonable as most are under $ 10 to begin with.) My Mom ordered the Seafood Tofu Stew, medium(but said it was still pretty spicy — beware, although tasty), and I got the Goat Soup. My soup was a little thin but very tasty and came with a side of sesame oil, sesame seeds, sweet pepper paste, and onions that the waitress insisted I mix and dip the goat in. I did, and it was good. The amount of goat in the soup was about right, neither skimpy nor abundant. The side dishes were really good and fresh too. My favorites were the cold potato salad, acorn jelly, and some stemmed herb that I only usually see at the Vietnamese markets. Service was a little absent minded, although I’ll attribute that to being near the end of the day. At least they were happy to refill the side dishes! They use a buzzer here, which is a good idea but sometimes I had to push it again after a couple of minutes to get their attention. We eventually got what we needed though.

My mom took me to this place and we ordered black goat stew and nag jee dolsut(octopus fried rice in stone pot), and soo jae bi(flour dish). Very flavorful dishes. Black goat stew: no goat meat smell. Very gamey. Goat is an acquired taste. I loved the thickness of the broth. The dipping sauce was excellent. Chunky and peppery. Perfect combo :) Octopus fried rice: My favorite of the three. Just get it! Flour dish: Not really a dish I like but my sister wanted to order. It was good. Tasted like rice cake soup with flour instead of rice cake. Good service and they also gave us pumpkin jook at the end. Which I don’t care for. But it was good. Overall, great authentic Korean food with good flavors. I will be back if I’m ever in this area visiting my mom during her lunch.

Had the Spicy Beef Soup, it was eh. I’ve had it better at other places. It tasted kind of watery. The side dishes were good, the portions were big and it’s open late. I’ll be back if I’m really craving Korean after 9pm.

I took away a star because their service was horrendous. Hands down, worst experience this yr. But! There food was very good. We ordered the goat meat casserole for 2 and it filled up 3 adults. (Mirak, they specialize in the black goat casserole) You are allowed one refill on the vegetables that go into the stew. When you are just about done and there’s only a shallow puddle left, ask them to fry rice. They’ll bring out shredded laver, chopped kimchi, sesame oil, etc… and fry it with the leftover soup which will be concentrated with all the yummies you consumed before. Soju goes great with everything, but try the sang makkoeli. Total palate cleanser! Very refreshing. They do have several other dishes. Everyday kimchi jjigae, soybean paste, soondubu and noodles. Didn’t get to try anything else. Definitely going back. Crossing my fingers, hoping that the next experience will be better… :p

First time at this place. Easy access to parking. A bit overpriced for weekday lunch. Ordered hot stone pot squid rice and beef soup with vegetable. The soup was good, but the squid rice looked better than it tasted. I saw other people trying other soup than what I had, and they looked really good. Will come back to try some other dishes.

It’s your typical over-priced Korean BBQ place. I don’t think you should be paying $ 20.00 for a plate of BBQ beef and steamed rice. The Kim Chi is OK but nothing to rave about. If you can make it to Korea Town, your money is better spent there. By the way, they do not have table-grills. They have portable propane grill. The service is decent which warrants the 2-stars. Otherwise, it would have been 1-stars.

It’s ok… I don’t get all this good reviews about this place. Not the best Korean food restaurant nor the best service. No way for five stars.

REDEMPTION. So, I decided to give this place another try, cause the food was delicious. And yes, once again, the food was amazing. And this time, service was great. Last time, our server wasn’t present much during our meal. We ran out of water, napkins… plates were piling up at our table, waited a while for the check… it was really disappointing. This time, we had all the servers going around and assisting us which was confusing at times, but at least we were getting what we needed. For one of our dishes we got the same as last time. Gamja Tang. Delicious. Get it. You won’t regret it. We also got their Bibimbap. There was a variety of vegetables, some meat, rice, and spicy sauce to mix it all together and add flavor. Didn’t absolutely love it, but it was good. I liked it.

It’s good for what we had ordered. Bibim Naengmyun + dwaeji bulgogi were very tasty. My son has the mool naengmyun that looked very good and portioned too much for a 6 year old so we all had to help him eat it. One thing I love about Korean restaurants are the service. The service bells at each table is so convenient and I love them. We also had the godeunggo(mackerel) which was fried with amazing precision. I really enjoyed my dinner here. This place can get quite busy so expect some additional time for your food to come out. Overall, I enjoyed this place and will be back when there is no home cooking. I really like my Korean restaurants and this one was above average.

I heard so much about Korean style goat soup I was definitely a little intimidated before trying it but heard about all the health benefits and wanted to try it it’s a little gamey (but i’m pretty sensitive to gamey protein) but the sauce and soup somehow make that gamey-ness delicious the service was great and the fried rice at the end was money

Just had dinner with my dad at this restaurant about 3 hours ago. He was craving something soupy because it was cold, while I just needed something to help me regain my strength from raging last night. Our first local pick of Ye Dang was super packed with at least 2 to 3 families ahead of us, not wanting to wait I listed all the Korean spots nearby and Mirak located next to the semi-new Arirang market ended up being the next best option. I’m not too sure about how my dad’s choice in the individual portion of black goat stew(huk yumsoh tang) was since I didn’t taste it, but he said it was pretty good. I ordered the blood sausage soup(soondae gook) minus the other meats that normally comes with it(pig ears, liver, etc). Our soups came bubbling hot and somewhat identical to one another. One thing I liked about my dish was that I didn’t have to add any da-dae-gee(chili paste) to spice up my soup as it already came spicy red. Although I didn’t find my soup to be spicy at all, maybe it would’ve been to people with lower tolerance in spice, but not for this pro. Even though I asked for the other meat to be omitted from my soup, the amount of soon dae was more than enough for me and I even had 2 pieces left, after eating to my heart’s content. What makes Mirak just okay was the service and banchans tonight. Service was not the best, probably because it was around dinner rush, but we sat there for a while with no water or banchan while I saw other people who came in after us sipping on their warm teas.(We eventually got our teas mid-meal when we finally realized they weren’t ever bringing it unless we reminded them.) The banchans were very humble, very… simplistic compared to other restaurants. When thats the case, I expect the banchan to taste better, but not at Mirak. The banchan was pretty flavorless and fell flat, which I guess was okay since our soups were so heavy in flavor that we needed some freshness to cut through… but overall they weren’t the best tasting. Despite the whatever banchan, I’ll be back for my soondae gook and maybe to try their other items because the entrees themselves were plentiful in flavor. Oh oh and because they give dessert, cold pumpkin porridge… lightly sweet, creamy, perfect to end the meal with.

I need to come back again! For sure :) Their portion is big, worth the dollar you spend. Me and my friend come here for lunch, and they are quite busy at around 1 – 3PM. There were only 2 lady on the front, but their serve us really fast. I tried the gam ja tang — pork rib soup with potatoes and it didn’t disappoint. Their soup was served in a big stone bowl, piping hot :) It taste really good although I prefer much thicker soup for gam ja tang. They also put a bunch of veggies to on top. My friend ordered the dolsot bi bim bap, and it came in a HUGE stone pot, it taste good too. The side dishes were also tasty, especially the radish(or maybe it’s just me, but it taste so so good)

I’m definitely hesitating whether to give this place 2 or 3 stars because, personally, I hated it… but the service was very nice and friendly and the place itself wasn’t bad. My mom and I went to try their black goat stew…(it’s supposedly really good for your skin, and health). My mom was losing a lot of weight recently because she’s been sick and she told me she wanted to eat this. I was VERY skeptical because I don’t eat any other meat besides BEEF… I can’t even do pork or lamb because it smells so bad… there’s a smell to certain types of meat that other people can’t smell but I can. The stew came out with a lot of vegetables and a separate dipping sauce, the side dishes were decent and the portion was more than enough. The stew we ordered was for two people and I believe it was around $ 35. My review is very biased and probably not what a lot of other people are expecting but it was horrible, I had to act like I enjoyed it because my mom was giving me her puppy eyes… It smells… so no I won’t return… BUT if you are daring then go for it! :D hahaha If you can eat lamb then I think you’d have no problem. It’s a bit spicy but that can be adjusted!
