The food is good. Steak is only served on Mondays and Tuesdays. Family night is on Thursdays so kids eat for $ 2

Food is always good. And the staff is always friendly. I can always count on the place being clean and bathrooms Clean. Love to come eat here with my dad and brother during lunch time. I start with a salad and then get a chicken leg, mashed potatoes with chicken gravy and always get Mac and cheese mixed with corn. Love it!

We have a huge family so when can’t figure out what or where to eat, we usually come here. It was super crowded for Mother’s Day but they did have CHICKENPOTPIE! Place was so hectic I only really had enough time to gobble up two pot pies. I’m giving it 4 stars for the best CPP I’ve ever had. Even though we were cramped in like sardines, they really kept up with the plates and food. Workers appeared very busy.

This is the fifth visit since December and, again, no chicken pot pie. What’s even worse is that they don’t have country fried steak. VERYDISAPPOINTED!!!

Let’s just say that I am pretty familiar with Hometown Buffet. I’ve eaten at HTB in Orange County at least 50 times over the last 5 years(what can I say, my kids like the place…). However, this was my first visit to the Fresno location! What a huge difference!!! At first, I was disappointed that the group had chosen to eat here. I just had HTB on Thursday down in Orange County! However, I noticed a big difference in food selection as I walked through the food area. This HTB had kielbasa sausage, chicken fried steak, 3 items at the carving station, biscuits & gravy, baked beans, and a variety of other items that isn’t regularly offered down south. Also, the roast beef was juicier and not overcooked, the pot pies tasted better and the overall quality of food was significantly better that what I’m used to. The service was excellent. Emily was the hostess/cashier and had to deal my convoluted transaction(I was paying for 8 people using 8 x $ 10 gift cards that she had to enter manually). A long line queued up behind me while she processed my transaction but she never lost her composure or friendliness. Alma was our server and took great care of our large party. It was my mother in law’s birthday and she brought out a few of the staff to sing happy birthday. Overall it was a pretty enjoyable meal and I will probably return when i visit Fresno again.

I like some of the new items they have offered like the chicken pie, but since the launch of the new changes the biggest change is the increase of prices in the meal and drinks. The coupons to save is off set by having to buy drinks that used to be free. At the drink station the Icee machine only one of the flavors worked. The steak that you used to offer has become steak pieces with potatoes, little steak. We used to go once every other week, now once a month.

The food was good. The problem as always is either dirty or wet dishes and out of ice in the soda machine. It never fails. You realy have to wonder why?. At $ 15.00 per person I expect clean dry dishes. It generally does not matter who you tell as it never changes.

I was dragged here by my senior citizen in-laws. My adult daughter had a coupon for her birthday and the manager told me he could not honor it. He then made the mistake to tell me that he did not have the«authority» to accept the coupon. I have been in the customer service industry for over 25 years and know for a fact he is a pathetic liar. I have been dragged here a few times before and they have remolded in the inside with the exception of the restroom, which needed it more than the rest. The food is average for the price and make sure to buy the drink extra. Mainly because they think people are too stupid to understand the ploy. Just raise the price and include the drink. I have been to a few buffet’s and this is the lower level buffet. I do not work for any competitor, these are facts based upon my experience. I may go to another Hometown but will never go to this location until there is a change in management.

35 $ for a buffet that was just nasty. Very dirty, unclean, and gross in general. So bad i went to mcdonalds afterward to eat.

I think the haters work for competitors. Food is good and price is even better. Nice general manager is visible and even special ordered one fresh portion of fried okra for me when I told him how good it was. I had not had any for years. Nice they have caesar salad here too. Lots of deserts to choose from.

If you want crappy overpriced processed garbage this is the perfect place to go. You can get that nasty canned gravy with Biscuits made of bleached flour and crisco and wait in long lines behind a bunch of fatass people. Never going here again. I would always recommend Sweet Tomatoes or Applebee’s that sells less expensive food not from a can.

I really don’t understand the haters of this place… first off, who goes to a buffet when they’re in a hurry? The idea is to take your time and carefully choose your food and eat at a leisurely pace. and the drinks are NOT watered down and they have a great selection from sodas, Icees, Mexican drinks, lemonade, coffee, or milk(regular and chocolate). I have had pretty good service here, better service than most snooty expensive places in town. And the food? It’s not all great, but if you choose carefully, I feel you can have a good meal here. For instance, anything they serve in a small container, like the pot pies… off the hook! I really do enjoy the steaks here and you can get any degree of doneness and any size from the carver. I’m not normally a fan of pot roast, but I love theirs. Their fried butterflied shrimp is also delicious and crispy. I also like to mix the honey mustard dressing with a squirt of lemon for a real taste treat on my salad. As far as prices, well, I don’t eat there without a coupon which I get regularly in my snail mail and email. I don’t agree with charging an extra 2 bux for the drinks, but nobody’s perfect! This particular store is the best of the lot as far as cleanliness, food, and service. All in all, one of my family’s favorite places to eat a good American meal.

I will say this is the best Sunday lunch place, the food is great and cheap in great amounts. If you re very hungry and don’t know where to go this is a great place to stop by.

This place is disgusting. I was dragged here with family not that long ago for lunch, why my family insisted on eating at this place confuses me still. I had a salad and that was about it. Something about«buffet» food just never seemed sanitary let alone tasty, even when I ate here when I was younger I never thought it was a clean place. Save your money and go somewhere better. With how much you end up paying for your entire families bill you could definitely afford to go to a much better establishment. The word«steak» was mentioned 20 times in that last review, haha. I couldn’t help myself from counting after I read it the first time.

Hometown Buffet should officially change their slogan to: «Hometown Buffet: We’re Banking on You’re Desperation!» Desperation is the only reason I step foot in this place last night. I got out of work late and had to meet some friends, but now since I don’t have time for the meal I had planned, I need to find something fast. I am desperate to get some food in me and get moving again, and I see Hometown Buffet, and I think to myself«Hey how much faster could I get than serving myself food, chowing down, and splitting?» Well the answer to that question technically is that I probably couldn’t have gone somewhere else and ate any faster, but perhaps I SHOULD have taken the comparably slower approach, because holy moly this place is downright terrible. Now I didn’t walk in to Hometown Buffet expecting a 5-star restaurant, serving top of the line food, at a buffet price. But I did expect that for my money the food would at least be somewhat passable in terms of quality. Well it looks like my rationing failed me this time, because it was anything but. The first thing I noticed when I walked in is that they now charge you separately for your meal, and for the«beverage bar.» So when they advertise on that banner out front«DINNERFOR $ 9.99!!!» it is sans drink. Do you want the privilege of having some watered down Coke, or their newest feature, watered down Icee’s? Be prepared to pony up another $ 2 bucks for that. Now we get to the«food» they serve at Hometown Buffet. The options they had there were varied, but none of it was good. The only thing I had that had any sort of taste to it were some little tiny rib pieces, but they had a ton of fat and gristle in them, and were not at all appetizing. While I was serving myself I heard an older lady raving to her son about this orange chicken they had, and how it was just«SODELICIOUS!» So I decided to try it, knowing it couldn’t possibly be anywhere as good as she was advertising. When I took a bite, it tasted like a cheap piece of chicken with about 3 inches of corn starch fried on it, then coated in a syrupy sauce that tasted like an Orange Crush reduction. To put it mildly, it tasted like poop. So needless to say I am not a fan of the Hometown Buffet chain of restaurants, and if I hadn’t been in such a tremendous hurry I wouldn’t have even stepped foot in the door. I can only assume that with food like this, it must be how they get most of their business.
