The prices are okay. Actually more expensive than the other Chinese supermarkets but manageably.
The selection of groceries aren’t a lot either. If you want more variety you would need to go to a bigger supermarket.
The cashiers are rude. I think only two are nice. They always act as if they don’t want to be there. Always rolling their eyes at customers.
The fish guys and the meat guys are rude. If you are Chinese and speak english, unless you speak Mandarin to them they pretty much look at you as if you are dumb. Even if you speak another dialect of Chinese they don’t care. But if an American person comes in speaking English they all of a sudden have manners… SMH.
The only good thing is that it has a parking lot. And I go here because you won’t get the same amount of traffic as you would going to the other supermarkets.

Shop here many times but realized they are bit expensive and not very fresh. It’s maybe they are the only Chinese supermarket in the area and most of the Asian neighbors will just come here. I also noticed some of the prices are different from the sign, so please be careful when you are online and if you see they charged extra please tell the cashier (happen to me few times)

Horrible service and some of the products are cheap — a lot of them are Expensive. The staff is very mean and not social to even say hi/​thank you. The only thing that’s good is the special sale they have on some of the produce for $ 1. That’s about it.

My parents who don’t speak English go to this supermarket to shop on a daily base. But the cashiers purposely make mistake on the receipt such as charge a higher price, or include something they didn’t purchase or charge twice for 1 item. I was very unhappy that they do this to 2 elder/​seniors who the cashier think my parents are old, not smart and can be played like that. I told my parents that if this happens again call the manager or dial 911!

The GOOD: plenty of parking. Some great deals in the clearance sections. They have $ 1 or $ 2 bags or boxes of fruits and vegetables.
The BAD: Quality of food here is hit or miss. Have purchased spoiled cheung fun, rice noodles, that I was really was looking forward to eating =T
The checkout cashiers are like roulette. They can be really snippy at times. This one time the cashier tossed all my items in the bags without a care in the world. She also handed me the receipt like a snotty stuck up «bizatch». Don’t expect much if you come, get your groceries and be glad you didn’t have to trek to Flushing. Call it a day! So you have been warned, but hey your mileage may vary.

It’s your standard Chinese supermarket — nothing fancy and you basically show up to get the shit you need.
I do like shopping here for the fact that there’s not a lot of people around compared to say Flushing or Chinatown. There’s parking and rarely is it ever at full capacity (as people come and go pretty quickly). If you don’t want to deal with the hustle/​bustle/​bullshit, this is a good option if you have a car.
As for what they sell — the selection is ok. It’s not amazing but it’s big enough to cover most of what you need. For me I usually get my hot pot ingredients here. They do a decent job of that. They also have a reasonably decent butcher and seafood section, which is a plus. The fruit section here isn’t bad either.
Generally this place is only limited by the amount of space it has relative to other, more cavernous supermarkets. People here aren’t exactly friendly but they are efficient and I’ve really never had any problems with their produce. But keep in mind the experience of shopping here isn’t always that pleasant due to narrow aisles relative to the amount of foot traffic they get compared to the overall space.
Otherwise, if you just need to buy shit and don’t want to deal with shopping in Flushing or Chinatown, this is a good option.

When I first found found this place I was impressed by its size and selection in the area where it is located. It gives you the convenience of shopping in a large Chinese grocery store without having to drive to Flushing. But the more I came here the less impressed I was. Many times the produce did not look very fresh. You really have to be picky to find the freshest produce of the day in this store. They do have a large seafood section and freshness seems to be on par with competing stores. The prices to me are pretty good. You can find really good prices on food often. There is a parking lot that is perfect for its size. It never gets completely full in my experience. I’ve never had to wait for a spot. I go here for convenience when I need Asian ingredients for my cooking.

I live right across the street. They sell rotten strawberrys, avacados,
Flies all over, mice running around. Manager is always angry, doesn’t care about customers.
He thinks he’s living in a country where they disrespect customers. Refused to exchange rotten strawberries. Am I in the US here?

Small asian market buried in Fresh Meadows, their vegetable and packaged goods selection is pretty good if you don’t want to schlep to Flushing. I came here to pick up meat but the chicken drumsticks and chicken breast were not fresh at all. Ground beef was limited in quantity-​ended up leaving with nothing. Their discounted $ 1 piles are in very good condition, some supermarkets sell you rotting veggies for $ 1/​bag, but here they sell tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers, and limes almost everytime that I come (probably their marketing gmimick). I would say it’s a hit or miss here, try it out if you ever need anything last minute.

There are many grocery stores in Fresh Meadows, but they usually tend to be overpriced. Chinese grocery stores and corner fruit/​vegetable stands generally have the best pricing and highest quality produce. IOG has a good selection and probably lower prices and higher quality than most other grocery stores in the area, but if you are willing to trek to Flushing, you’ll notice a huge difference in price, quality, variety and of course wait time at the check out line.
There’s a very large parking lot that is shared among several stores in the strip mall, with a smaller lot in the front of the strip mall. It’s sort of odd because it’s this little deserted island of stores surrounded by a school, buildings and houses. Super residential area…
My favorite things about this place is: they put all of their specials around the cash register or at the end of each aisle, they have a really nice selection of Asian toiletries and $ 1 bags of veggies and fruits. Granted the $ 1 bags of veggies and fruits are produce that has been there for too long, most of it is in pristine condition so you might have to dig around a little bit, it’s equivalent to shopping in the clearance section at Macy’s.

I’ve stopped going here. While the prices and selection are reasonable, they are no different from other markets. When it comes time to check out, you’re greeted by a scowling cashier who seems like you’re bother her. The owners need to realize that this poor customer service is affecting their bottom line. If the cashiers feel like customers bothering them, then maybe it’s time for a new job. If they want to keep their jobs, then learn basic customer service 101 … common courtesy goes a long way.
Do not throw my receipt at me. Do no text while you’re working. Do no talk angrily to the other cashiers. Do not complain in Chinese … I understand you,.
Make sure to THANK the customer because that’s why you have a job.

This supermarket has a very nice selection of items from chicken feet to dimsum. Live fish and eels, and crab alive. It has to do something with flavor, I still haven’t bought that because I have too much empathy for living things. Its location is convenient for me as its one mile away. The prices are low for all most all of the products. Today I got 2 Granny Smith apples for $ 2, raspberries for $ 1.49, and bags of dumplings 2-​$ 6. I do love Chinese supermarkets because they are full of culture. It’s like walking in china town in Manhattan. The back parking lot is also convenient for many customers.

Typical asian market. good produce selection. if your looking for a good deal and will be using the vegetables soon you can always find a dollar bag with vegetables that are turning soon. there’s actually a decent american food section.
The butchers will hook you up (spare ribs… yum) and the fish mongers are good too.
All in all I like this place I shop there a lot but the typical Asian market. check it out

This Chinese supermarket is hard to find if you’re not familiar with Fresh Meadows. It’s in the middle of nowhere. I come here every once in a while, to stock up on my watermelon seeds, or relatively cheap fruits and veggies. Every so often, they have good deals with their fruits and produce, but the meat and seafood prices here are definitely higher than other supermarkets, such as Skyview.

Recently moved to the area and I was looking for a Chinese or Asian supermarket with a parking lot that was NOT in Flushing. IOG is less than ten blocks away with parking. In fact, the strip has an, «Enrichment Center» which made me laugh because I grew up attending Kumon. Sigh, memories.
My grocery shopping is never done. I go to my local grocery store, then sometimes I go to Trader Joe’s or Fairway, then the vegetable stand, then of course I need my Asian goodies.
Typical Chinese supermarket. I was able to find almost everything. I got a 1.00 $ bag of veggies that are, «about to go bad.» Chopped it up with garlic for a stir fry and it was delish. Seafood is fresh, I got a huge piece of Salmon and didn’t realize it was $ 20 bucks! I went home started to cut it and I was able to make five portions of it (three I froze, one for dinner and one for lunch the next day) and calculated that I indeed saved money compared to if I ordered fish at a restaurant.
And of course they had my lovely lovely shrimp chips (the japanese kind that looks orange). Win win.
I do think the location is quite bizarre, really in the middle of a residential neighborhood but good for me!
And for those complaining about staff, it’s an Asian supermarket. Typical. Only thing I was able to find was my fermented dry black beans but I can never find them in any supermarket since they are randomly placed.

Shopping for groceries at a Chinese supermarket is usually a no frills experience (this market is no exception). The smell of fresh seafood, produce and meats permeate the air. There is little or no customer service (which is fine if you know what you’re buying and the aisle location).
Though this supermarket is not our favorite go to place for Chinese groceries, we’ll shop there only if we’re in the area (which is not much).

Most convenient Chinese Supermarket around me BUT the prices here are higher with not that many good selections. I guess I’ll just go a little further to SkyFoods inside the SkyView Center. Sigh!
I think I have become THE Grocery Lady, so I am developing a sense of where the best prices are lol. Yes, I am serious!

My go-​to Asian grocery market where you’ll find me at least once or twice a week. The Associated supermarket that used to be here was only so-​so despite it being in the middle of the huge Fresh Meadows residential development and didn’t make it for very long. I am so glad that I.O.G. (Island of Gold, same owners as Gold City on Kissena) took over because I can get just about anything food-​wise under the sun for good prices and very fresh too.
All your everyday staples, milk, bread, eggs, fresh fruits & veggies are here in abundance and turnover rather quickly. How many brands of ramen do they stock? I lost count. You won’t find high end cuts of meat here, but you can get lots of fish & seafood including lobster & dungeness crab. Most unusual item here? Beef pizzle, look it up.

I prefer Flushing supermarkets because they have fresher selections on meat and fruits with cheaper prices. However, 2 things I can’t stand are 1) fighting for a parking spot in Flushing and then getting my car scratched on the side because people are careless, and 2) overcrowdedness in flushing.
Therefore my safe option is I.O.G. Supermarket conveniently located in Fresh Meadows and they have a huge parking lot that’s free. Decent prices for a variety of food including fish, meats, oriental foods/​snacks and everyday items.

Great deals on many items. The poultry and fish department carry a great variety of fresh seafood and meats.
Nothing goes to waste here. You can find many $ 1.00 bags of tomatoes, peppers, ginger and garlic. These $ 1.00 bags are a «steal»! The items are still fresh and will last a few days or more in your fridge.
Since this is a Asian supermarket, they still carry some western style items.
Having a parking lot in the back is a big plus!
