This review is for Dr. BARRETT SPENCER TILLEY. The Dr. Himself seemed like a nice guy with an average looking office and waiting area.
The trouble began when the Dr. ordered blood tests for me; they recommended I go to Quest Diagnostics to get the blood test done. So a week later I came back to have the results read to me, but Dr. Tilley had forgot to check off a few important things on the blood test (thyroid, testosterone etc.)which he quickly blamed on Quest Diagnostics. So I called Quest later that day to complain and they forwarded me a copy of the order which clearly showed it was NOT their fault, but in fact it was Dr. Tilley who had not checked off for those portions of the test.
A week later I went in for my next appointment, this time I waited close to 35 minutes in the lobby and another 10 minutes or so in the doctor’s office. So the Dr. finally came in the room and the first thing I showed him was the mistake on the blood test orders. He realized the mistake, but now he blamed his staff and said he’ll write a new order. So I’m already out over 150 bucks for the first blood test and I’ll be out another 100 bucks or more because of the doctors mistake.
No matter, it’s my health so it’s well worth it. I did not complain about that or waiting for over 40 mins to see him AFTER MY APPOINTMENT TIME and just smiled as I know people, even doctors can mistakes.
So fastward a week later, and my new blood test results came in. I called his office to have the Dr. read off and discuss what it was, but Dr. Tilley would not even take my call because his receptionist told me it’s a «policy to not read results over the phone, it must be discussed in person»
At this point I’m starting to feel Dr. Spencer Tilley is not a good guy like I thought he was. Either way my health is important so I made yet another appoinment (3^rd appointment for one blood test). On the day of my appointment with Dr. TILLEY I was running late, and so I called the office to let them know in advance. I walk in the office exactly 7 mins late. (appointment was for 11:40 a.m., I was there at the receptionist window at exactly 11:47 a.m. Let me repeat this again, I was 7 stinkin minutes late, but the receptionist told me the Dr. would not see me as he has a «full schedule». I looked around the waiting room, and not one person was in there. I pointed this out to the receptionist, and she again gave the company line of «its policy blah blah».
I asked if she could please ask the Dr. To make an exception as I waited for over 40 minutes for him the last time I was there for an appoinment. And the fact that this whole blood test mistake was the fault of his office and not mine. I even offered to cut down on the time he would see me, which was normally about 15 minutes, to just 7 minutes to compensate for me being late. She went to the back to speak with him and came back and said he would not make an exception and that I would have to make another appointment for next week. So that would make 4 appointments to have one blood test done.
I was very upset at this point, and just told them it was very bad business and very inconsiderate what they were doing, especially since it was their mistake they forgot to order the right tests for me. So I left and will never go back to this place again, and will NOT be recommending BARRET SPENCER TILLEY to any family or colleagues of mine. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

Dr. Subena Tilley is great! I’ve always dreaded going to the doctor, but Dr. Subena Tilley changed all that for me. She has a great bedside manner. You can tell that she genuinely cares, she’s very easy to talk to, and you do not feel rushed.
I would have given 5 stars, but I had to subtract one for the front desk staff. On two different occasions I had to call them because my pharmacy did not receive my prescription. I had to call them to have them re-​fax it; however, I don’t believe it was ever faxed in the first place, being that this is the 2^nd time this has happened. Although that was quite annoying, it isn’t enough for me to switch doctors. I just hope they get more organized when it comes to faxing over prescriptions.

I found Dr Tilley sometime this year. Will just say 4 to 6 months ago. I had a very sharp excruciating pain that got worse on my left side. I even went to Emergency Room at Alta Bates hospital in Berkeleand they found nothing wrong with me after blood tests and quick DR exam and four hour wait time. On top of $ 3000.00 Bill. Luckily I had insurance.
They were WRONG not only did my pain get worse but I could not even do the normal things I once did with the pain. After one week I found Dr Tilley. He was so awesome and his staff were so kind to me. He found out I had an infection after doing a cat scan the following day. His staff called my insurance write away to get it authorized. Otherwise I would end up in Emergency again but this time I would be way worse.
He prescribed antibiotics that cleared up the infection and let me get back to my self again. Pain Free. Dr Tilley really listens to you and wants to take care of you and get you well.
I highly recommend him and his generously kind staff will help you with appointments and paperwork.
I still see Dr Tilley and he is helping me with my health.

This is specifically for Dr. Mahal. What an awful experience. I’m a Remicade patient who just moved to the area and needed an infusion quickly. It felt like they had never done it before and there was no sense of urgency. Not only did it take several weeks to get in, but I had to go through several additional steps like calling CVS to confirm billing. On the day of my appointment, I arrived and was told my medicine was not ready. Waste of an hour. When it actually came in, I waited 90 minutes before walking out. Dr. Mahal looked flabbergasted when I told him I had to leave. He didn’t even know how long the infusion would take despite me telling him several times that I get 1 hour infusions. He claimed the time was variable. I’ve been getting Remicade for over a year and never heard such nonsense. You set the machine for an hour drip and you’re done in an hour. He told me «you can’t schedule infusions on a day where you have someplace to be.» So he expects you to call in sick every 8 weeks? If you have Crohn’s or Collitis, go see someone who knows what he is doing.
I’m just getting started. Dr Mahal has to give the Remicade personally. Why a nurse can’t do this is beyond me. He also blanket prescribes mesalamine to all his patients. This medicine has never worked for me and comes with several nasty side effects. What kind of GI prescribes this to everyone? Oh and let’s not forget, he doesn’t come into the office until 1pm at the earliest, so hopefully you don’t work a 9 to 5. I’ve been to bad doctors before but this might just take the cake.

This review is for the administrative part of the office. I scheduled my father here for a colonoscopy exam and we arrived 30 minutes early. They advised us to fill out necessary forms that we can print online. So we did assuming we are saving time. After an hour and a half we are still waiting. Again we arrived 30 minutes early. The waiting room was packed with about 20 people. You would think that making an appointment so they can help these poor elderlies get treated in a timely manner. I think they over book the patients so they can generate more revenue. I belive that the best interest of this medical office is our pockets and not the patients.
Most of these patients here are in their 70s to 80’s. Half of them are going up to their receptionist asking when will they get called in. I could hear the same excuse of «It’ll be just one moment.» This is unacceptable and they need to find a better way of running their medical office in a more organized manner.

Dr Tilley is a great competent Doctor but this review is for Sara who is a nurse in his office. She was so helpful to me and I had only met her one time before. She is so professional and always has a warm friendly smile. I think doctors need to understand that they can be the best doctor in the area but if their staff is unfriendly, create situations that are agrevating to patients we will go somewhere else. Sara is someone any office would want on their team. I own a small business and she is someone that i would want representing my business too.
I hope your office gives out bonuses for your staff who keep your clients coming back.

If you need a procedure, do not go to Dr. Anmol Mahal unless, of course, you have nothing else to do with your time. My husband goes in for an endoscopy annually and every time they take in him 3 HOURS AFTER HIS APPOINTMENT TIME! This is abusive, shows a disregard for patients, and is unprofessional. Do not schedule people 3 hours before their procedure.
There is always an excuse every year, SORRY NOT EVERY DAMNED YEAR
THE SAME EXCUSE!!!

Dr. B. Tilley is a good, competent and realistic medical doctor. He does not beat around the bush and will medically tell you the pros and cons. He listens to his patients and it shows…
The staff is professional, confidential and 99% accommodating to your needs.

Dr. Tilley is a caring and very competent doctor. Glad I found him.

My father saw Dr. Amnol Mahal last year for a routine colonoscopy. An unknown source of bleeding was found, but the doctor did not conclude anything or do additional follow-​ups other than biopsy some polyps. This year, he was diagnosed with colon cancer (spread to lymph nodes) by a different doctor! I will do intensive research before I help file a malpractice claim. I do not believe that an adenocarcinoma could grow so quickly in just 1 year, and it must have *I speculate* been growing for about 5 years. It is just heart-​wrenching to imagine that such a grievous mistake was possibly made.

Dr. Barrett Tilley,
Dr. Tilley likes to treat sports injuries as he himself is a sports person and likes rock climbing and fast cars. I came to him for my knee injury. He inspected me as a sports physio would and recommended some anti-​inflammatory pills. He is very accommodating and a very good listener. Above all, he treats you very well. I think all Medical Associates doctors treat you well.

I saw Dr Amnol Mahal last year for my ulcer problems. He was friendly, patient, and willing to spend time answering all my questions. His office admin staffs were also always courteous and friendly. I rate Dr Amnol Mahal 5 stars, 10 stars if I may.
However, I can only give the business practice of Medical Associates of Fremont zero star.
Knowing my insurance is PPO, they sent me who was in excruciating stomach pain to a surgery center knowing the facility is not on any PPO network. My insurance company said we must check with the facility to see if the facility is on the network. The facility, Fremont Surgery Center, checked with my insurance, and was aware that my insurance plan is PPO, yet knowingly did not disclose they’re not on any PPO network at the time of admission for endoscopy. They also intentionally did not bill me until one year later, when the bill is no longer eligible for any flexible spending claims.
I am sorry that Dr Amnol Mahal’s office referred their patients to such facility when their patients are not in their best condition to negotiate. The doctor’s affiliation to an independent surgery center and their profit should not be built on the pain of their patients’ body and their wallets. It’s a shame because Dr Amnol Mahal is one of the best doctors I’ve known in regards to medicine.

My son started seeing Dr. Barrett Tilley a few years back. He was always great with my son. Recently changing from Kaiser to Blue Cross I found myself in need of a new doctor. My first visit was a dedicated 30 minutes of talk and health education. It was non-​judgmental. The office is clean. The staff is courteous and professional.
During a recent hospital stay I met Dr. Anmol Mahal who is a gastroenterologist. He came to visit me during the 4^th of July week, when I understand he was supposed to be on vacation. I thank him for taking the time to see me, provide my care, and educate me on the reasons for my illness and what preventive measures I need to take in the future. He’s a very kind doctor.

I saw Dr. Amnol Mahal for ulcerative colitis as a teenager and young adult. He was rude, arrogant, and talked down to me when I came in with questions regarding this disease. He told me he was the doctor so why was I researching everything! I was just desperatley trying to find medicines and treatments besides prednisone that would help. Please find someone else if you truly have a serious medical issue. One time he admitted me to the hospital and while I walked in to be admitted I left with hardly any strength and was ill for months! I advise you to be very careful!!!

As a New Year’s Resolution, I decided to start going to the doctor, I have insurance, so why not? With the recommendation of my gyno, she recommended Dr. Subena Tilley. She is super young and I have no complaints. It was just a general check-​up, so I can’t say how amazing of a doctor she was and how she helped me get rid of some illness.
But from what I know about this place…
1. IT IS HUGEEEEEE! Seems like there are a bunch of patient rooms, bathrooms, and even a Cardiac Stress Test room!
2. This practice is family owned. Dr. Anmol Mahal and Dr. Surjit Mahal are the mom and dad, and their daughter is Dr. Subena Tilley, who married Dr. Barrett Tilley. They each for their own specialties.
3. Really good website! They have all the forms on there, so you can fill it out before you go to the office.
4. Free Wi-​Fi!
I’m pretty healthy and hope I don’t have to go back anytime soon (knock on wood), but I don’t mind having to come here.
