Happy Fish Swim School

Happy fish is the best swim school around! The staff is extremely friendly and happy :) all the instructors are great! Both my children are learning how to swim and I couldn’t be happier! I had them at the American swim academy and we didn’t longer than 2 months. Huge difference! Big big thank you to Daniel! Marc is inspired and motivated by you! After much reluctance, I decided to give swimming a try again as I wanted to get certified for diving. I had tried once 12 – 13 years ago, but just didn’t learn much and gave up. I joined the weekly adult classes at Happy Fish to give it a try again. The beginner class teacher Miss Celina was absolutely amazing. She made sure that I move to intermediate level in just 3 classes. Daniel in between got me going on free style in just one session, a huge thank you to him even though he was filling in for someone that day. The intermediate and advanced level teachers Miss Calla and Jessica were equally good. After 4 months of 45 minutes once a week classes (some weeks were off in between), I am able to swim freestyle, breaststroke, and backstroke in the deep (7ft end) easily for an hour. The teachers at Happy Fish helped correct mistakes at every step and provided the much needed guidance to swim the right way. I feel pretty good about the decision to join Happy Fish and stick it out during the challenging weeks when I started to learn a new stroke. Highly recommend the adult classes and the teachers I learned from.

Amazing lifeguard class! Scott is a great teacher and implements what it’s like to be a lifeguard through fun games, stories/​past experiences, and excellent trainings for rescues in the pool and out. I’d definitely want to come back to Scott for my re-​certification. ;)

We love coming here. My child has learned a lot! We have had 2 different teachers & they were both great. All of the staff is very friendly. I choose this place for weekly swim lessons because it fit in our schedule. Very satisfied with happy fish.

I love this swim school and so does my 6 year old! The instructors are the best! They focus on each student so well with every lesson. I think the changing rooms are very clean, I do believe the parents on their part need to help keep them clean. Overall we’re really happy with this place.

I have 2 girls, ages 7 and 3. Me and my husband are so happy with the staff. Keep up the good work.!!

I want to say how pleased I with this school! I am having back issues, a bulging disc with pain radiating down my leg. April, my swim instructor was so great! Not only was i having back problems but being older I was so self conscious! She was great! Like she said it’s all muscle memory and it will come back. Well after a few minutes of her correcting what I was doing wrong it started coming back! I highly recommend this school and thank you April for your patience and great instructions!

I pulled out both my kids from American Swim to put them in Happy Fish. The facilities here are not as good as American Swim but the teaching definitely beats ASA. My kids were stagnant there for a long time. They are learning once again here. I would definitely recommend Happy Fish and Mike.

We love this place. Their policies are generally very parent friendly (in particular their make up policy). I started my son off here when we moved to Fremont 5 years ago. He finished up the final level and learnt a lot — I must say. While all of their instructors are great, we were particularly pleased with Mike. He pushes the kids an extra bit and that really gets them to learn quite a lot. We got a validation of how much he had learned after my son finished up the last level here and we tried to put him into another facility for competitive. Sometimes kids like to find the easy way out… but when they stick with it, the results are very rewarding. I highly recommend the facility if you are looking for a swim school in Fremont.

It’s been about 8 months since my last review. My daughter, now 4 has passed all the beginner levels and has now moved onto the intermediate levels. The teachers have been great although it does get frustrating each turn of the semester when teachers change. The good thing is that my daughter has gotten to know the different instructors through make-​up classes and substitutes so change for her hasn’t been terribly bad.
We have taken advantage of the free swim which is offered on Sat. and Sun. From 12:30 — 1:30 for $ 3 per person. Now we’ve gone several times and we used to have full access to all the pool «toys», however, the last time we went this past Sat., the lifeguard (an older gentleman) snatched fish ring out of my daughter’s hand, saying that only pool noodles and kick boards were allowed. It was quite rude how he said it and my daughter was obviously hurt by his tone and action. Now it wasn’t just my daughter he was rude to but other kids. If those toys are not allowed to be used during free swim I would suggest that the staff communicate that to the parents and kids when checking the hand stamps when entering the pool area. OR put those toys out of reach so that the lifeguard is not wasting his time snatching pool toys out of kids’ hands who are not in the know.

We love Happy Fish! Teacher Marcus, Mike, Adam, Howen, so many great teachers we have had over the years. Both my kids have done very well here and had fun. We tried all the other swim schools but the methodology here is what works. My kids have enjoyed the classes and facility. I appreciate the flexibility and politeness of the staff.
Please do add 1 more competitive class so all kids can be accommodated!

I wanted to give 5 stars for the teacher, Ms. Cala and their make up class policy and 3 stars for the facility and their age-​limit policy.
When we first moved our daughter here to the water babies class, I was quite disappointed by the facility. We didn’t do a tour of any sort. I just looked online and registered for her classes. There are just three open showers by the pool and you have to stand in the line for your turn. The changing rooms aren’t always clean either. After the first two classes, I was thinking of discontinuing and moving somewhere else. But both my daughter and I, loved the way Ms. Cala engaged with her. She started loving swimming and would ask to take her to class every week.
Though she is ready to move on to the next level, due to age restrictions, she has to be in the water babies till she turns 3. I wish the management saw the progress and maturity instead of purely going by age.
Overall, we are very pleased with this facility because of the teacher.

I love this place. I was a former employee for over a decade and when I had two kids of my own, I decided to bring them here for swim lessons. I think that says a lot about the swim school, especially when there are so many competitors out there. The place has grown and changed so much since I was an employee. Management I think is a lot better too.
My 8 year old was terrified of the water and has been through several teachers at different schools but definitely became a fan of water with Ms. Barbara (although she is no longer there). I loooooove Ms. Leah for my waterbabies instructor. My two year old can be so needy with just me but Leah has been so engaged and has tried to give Ava the freedom she needs to succeed in the water.
The school likes to decorate during the holidays which I think adds a «homelike» feeling. The tv area is great for when my two year old needs to calm down because she doesn’t want to leave her lesson. I would recommend this place for anyone looking to take swim lessons.

Scott, I’m not sure why I’m not able to write a response to your comment after I shared my daughter’s experience at your school, but honestly, I am NOT surprised that you will come here 3 years later and excuse the fact that YOUR facilities injured my child!
Your response on this post is EXACTLY the careless attitude you gave us when we were there and I brought my daughter in tears to you after seeing MULTIPLE marks on her little body! I was WATCHING when this teacher dumped her under water as my daughter was shaking her head NO. Don’t you tell me what happened when you were nowhere near that area and did nothing.
What you’re saying is simple false. You offered us to change her teacher, BUT WE had to come on a different time than what we originally PAID for which wasn’t an options due to our work schedule AND on the time you gave us for this other teacher you were ALLOWING the teacher who did this to be there while my daughter was in the pool. My child was SCARED of her. Don’t you understand that! We didn’t want our child to be in the same area as this teacher.
And also, the money you refunded us was for THAT day’s class and the rest that we paid for that we were not coming back too. So yes, we wanted our money back b/​c you didn’t give us a solution that worked for us. Would you leave your child who was just hurt by someone in the same room as them? NO I’m sure you wouldn’t.
You are a horrible business owner and you did nothing for our child to make her feel comfortable in YOUR place of business after this happened.
I don’t understand how a child can come out of a swimming lesson with multiple marks. You are lucky I didn’t sue you for this. Don’t you dare come on here and excuse this. My previous review of your business and you as a business owner still stands.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. WHY TAKE THE CHANCE WITH YOUR PRECIOUS CHILD. I WOULDN’T!

Took my 3 ½ year old son for a swimming lesson. The teacher Stacey was great. He was nervous and crying she took him and put him in the water within a few minutes he was smiling and
by the end of the class he was putting his under the water.

I would highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a swimming class for your child or kids. It was a great experience for me and my little one. My LO is 6months old and her instructor was very very kind, friendly, thoughtful and so sweet. How about the place? Yes! I know if you’re looking for place for your child to have swim class, the first thing you would consider maybe if it is crowded or clean, etc. and here at Happy fish, it’s not crowded, kids are getting along well even the adults and mom’s. Also when you get done, they’re bathroom/​s are easy to access. So, I guess if my LO used to get to the water and people, then I will surely come back here! Overall, staff/​s are nice, members, & instructors! Pool is clean! Great for kids! TWO THUMBS UP!!!

My 6-​year-​old and 3-​year-​old are both enrolled at this swim school and are loving it. The instructors are extremely patient and kind, and make lessons really fun. My little one is brand new to swimming and was nervous the first couple of lessons, but now she’s eager to jump right in. My son’s confidence in the water has grown so much and he’s now working on his arm strokes. I’m so pleased with the kids’ progress and the quality of the instructors here.
The school is a smaller one, and the amenities are pretty basic. There are three showers located right next to the pool, which means waiting in line to wash off after lessons. The changing rooms are a bit cramped especially if you have more than one child to change. But they have a comfortable waiting area, large glass windows to observe the children’s lessons, and a movie /​toy corner which is really helpful if you just need a few minutes to pack up everything or talk to the front desk. Their enrollment process is simple (monthly fees collected at the beginning of the month) and I’ve found it easy to switch around lesson times or schedule make-​ups as needed.

Some of the teachers are fantastic, Barb especially. That said they don’t have anywhere near enough free swim time, and overall my son seem less motivated and energized after 4 months. Add to that their levels and medals where my son was stuck on one for over two months, and skills he pretty much could do when he came in. Overall it was too much focus on form and not enough on just enjoying swimming

My 3 y/​o loves coming to her swimming class at Happy Fish. I enrolled her two months ago as a water baby and now she’s up four levels.
She takes classes 2x a week, which helps her learn quickly and retain the skills better. The classes are 30 mins. long and the max ratio is four kids per instructor. The professional instructors make the beginner kids feel at ease, and they allot time for water play. Special shout out to Ms. Kayla and Ms. Susanna, who seem to be very good and patient with kids.
There are three public shower stalls and several private changing stations. The waiting room has ample seating for parents and free wifi is available. I love the fact that the heated pool is indoor and I can watch my kid’s swimming progress through the huge windows.
