I have never in my life been turned with hot, green cash to spend!!! All 4 of us were treated second rate. We walked out!

The wines they had were okay. We didn’t like anything enough to buy bottle, BUT I LOVEDLOVEDLOVED one of their olive oils and definitely snagged a bottle of that. Also, the staff was rather cold and unfriendly. What gives?

This was our first stop on our tour of Fredericksburg wineries, and I was very impressed. There are no vineyards here, as the majority of their wines are produced in the Holy Land, but they did have a few Texas produced wines as well. The service was great. Our group of 6 was well taken care of. The manager did a fantastic job of telling the story of their wines and was very knowledgable. Each couple ended up leaving with a bottle of wine. My husband and I purchased Exodus, their Israeli Cabernet Sauvignon. I can’t wait to drink it! The facility is new and very clean. I highly recommend this one!

We’ll pass on this place when we come back to Fredericksburg. We came as a party of 9, and the guy never really greeted us. The first thing I heard him say was, «I’m gonna wait until everyone get here {to the bar}, so I don’t have to repeat myself nine different times». Um. OK. He was good about explaining their system, explaining that we read up on the wine descriptions, place a check in the box next to the ones we wanted to try, and he’d pour the samples. The wines were good, and I would’ve purchased a bottle or two if it weren’t for the man serving us. We tried to converse with him and brought up the fact that we were with a bachelorette party, in which case, he dryly added that he was divorced. Perfect. He’d barely poured my last tasting, before he walked over to the register, offering«I can start ringing y’all out whenever you’re ready». Alright. Well, I guess I’ll throw this one back and be on my way. Hopefully the guy was just having a bad day. In any case, we won’t be back here.

We visited Mendelbaum Cellars for the second time this past weekend. The facility is new, clean, and inviting. The story behind the wines is quite interesting, as all growth, production, and bottling occurs in the Holy Land. Most of the wines are good to very good. The reds are full bodied and bold, not for the faint of heart. Manager is friendly and enjoys talking. Free tasting with purchase. Asked for a military discount and, despite not having one, got a bit off by showing my ID card. Will definitely return!

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed it here. Staff was friendly and the Israeli wines were very nice(’09 Cab especially good). No vineyards as the wines are aged in(and imported from) Israel. Small but cozy, chairs set up to sit and relax while you’re tasting. All in all, worth stopping in.
