The store strives to be an old style Rock Shop carrying a large variety of mineral specimens, crystals, gemstones, fossils, metaphysical stones as well as Native American Indian Jewelry, clever wood signs and home décor items. While we have many fine specimens for the serious collector, about 85% of our sales are from items under $ 20.
History
Established in 2006.
I graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a degree in Geology. My passion for rocks & minerals began at the age of six when my parents took me to Santa Fe and Taos New Mexico during the summers in the mid-sixties. The mountains around Taos had numerous gold and sliver mines in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. I began collecting Malachite and Azurite ore from the mine tailings and began selling rocks at the age of eight in front of my house in Dallas, Texas. By the age of twelve I had a small wholesale rock business selling to local craft stores in the area
When college rolled around I decided to make Geology my career. After graduating, I worked in Oil & Gas Exploration for a number of years and then went to work in information systems technology for Ross Perot’s company EDS. After another stint in information systems for a Natural Gas Utility, I moved to Annapolis, Maryland and became a licensed U.S. Coast Guard Master (Boat Captain) for five years. I got married in 2
