Farmhouse Coffee and Ice Cream

A great place to study indoors and outdoors with tasty ice cream. The Grandpa Blueberry was delicious!

Very relaxing atmosphere. It is located in a quite place too, looks like coming to a residence to have ice cream. We had banana pudding and mocha chip ice creams and both were great. I would like to try their coffee too next time.
There is also a mini library over there, makes me feel more at home.

Great ice cream, very cute place, repeatedly horrible service (5 – 6 times). It’s rare to catch a smile or a greeting when ordering, making it the reason I won’t go in there anymore.

Very cute and nice atmosphere. I enjoyed the setting. I was concerned when I ordered a Sunday the front counter staff said he didn’t know how to make a Sunday because he was new and was not trained. I was okay and understanding… he was a nice guy… so I ordered 2 scoops in a cup with hot fudge, whip cream, and cherry. :) he was able to make that… ada boy! Very nice kid… enjoyed it.

This is a cozy little place kind of hidden from the main road. Enjoyed the atmosphere and my ice-​cream. If you are looking for a place to read and write, this is a good place to visit.

This is really a neighborhood gem. A little house converted into a coffee/​ice cream shop that makes your afternoon coffee experience like being at a home away from home. The lady working there is super nice and the coffee is also very good. I didn’t try the ice cream because it was 40 degrees outside but from the looks of it, I doubt it would be disappointing.
There are tons of books in the library in case you feel like doing some reading while you are there and the chairs are very comfortable.
Overall, a great spot to do some studying or just enjoy a cup of joe with friends.

Incredibly charming little coffee shop! There is plenty of seating inside, outside and a cozy loft area. I ordered a French Vanilla Latte, which was delicious. The barista was friendly, attentive and even delivered my drink to the porch. I will be back!

This place has super charm! Looks like an old farmhouse, thus the name. There actually is an old barn behind the place, the owners are very friendly, the coffee is great and so is the ice cream. It’s a great place to hang out.

Hugh Jackman visited this café. If one of my favorite actors visited this place for coffee, I would surely love this place! YUS!
But I didn’t. I really really didn’t.
Salty Coffee
For starters, they have salty tap water which makes salty coffee. I didn’t notice until my coffee started to cool down and the aftertaste was hard to ignore. I’m utterly bamboozled at the folks who had Unilocaled that they drive out of their way to come here for coffee. This business doesn’t make the latte art or have many coffee flavors to choose from. So… Why? My girlfriend ordered a latte and I ordered a regular dark brew. Conclusion? It’s literally one cup of mediocre coffee that I could make at home.
The Free Smells and Bad Food
Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but I swear the café smelled like an old retirement home or old lemonly cleaner at a high school bathroom. The odor was so pungent, my girlfriend and I ate outside… where it smelled like fresh poopy mulch. Hooray! One odor to another! But Mulch is mulch, I’m not criticizing them for that. My review comes from the food. So what’s worse than smelling stinky chemical cleaner? How about tasting it!!! My ham and cheese sandwich tasted like the old retirement home smell I tried to avoid by sitting outside. Whatever they used to pollute the air, must have been their cleaner they used to sanitize the very counter top space used to build my sandwich. I couldn’t finish my sandwich, the ham tasted like soap. Our apple sides were pretty ripe, mushy and browned quickly after our meal was served. We took a few nibbles but threw them out. The only consistent positive food review was for their lentil soup. I should have just ordered a big o bowl of THAT. It was so hearty and delicious. But their soup menu varies by day, and they only have one option. So I’m not sure when I’ll ever have it again.
Ice Cream
The Key lime pie ice cream was so good! It had a creamy cream cheese texture with a hint of lime juice and There was crumbled pie crust mixed in. Mm mm mom! I sampled their pistachio flavor and it was very tasty! It was hard to choose which one I wanted, but the lady gave me a very generous scoop!

I want to be fair. This very cute farmhouse café seems well established because there were families, large group of friends, couples and doggies (on the lawn of course) that would continuously stop in for ice cream. Everyone seemed to enjoy their desserts and not many guests ordered anything else. Maybe they had a similar culinary experience?
Overall I’m pretty disappointed with their limited food selection. I thought smaller menu choices meant better food but I was terribly mistaken. Worse of all, I did not enjoy their coffee that was once rated quite high! I think this place should just stick with ice cream and desserts. It’s their strong point.

Nice little place, hardly any flavors and customer service was very poor. Not a hello, how can I help you, or a smile. Just a bored teenage girl looking like she wants to go home

The farmhouse is situated in a parking lot, not really a farm atmosphere aside from the birds and Mosquitos. When we walked in, we waited about 10 minutes to be waited on at the counter. The staff seemed overwhelmed and new. Ordered hot brew tea and it was cold and wretched. Staff offered to heat it for me. To switch a hot coffee to a cold coffee, I was told that I had to order a medium and not a small. I think I’ll go to the Market Basket next door next time I am in the area. Farm house is cool but atmosphere and staff bring down the mood.

No ice cream flavors tonight, a line of 7 people waiting to order and 1 person behind the counter. We left. It could just be so much more.

Great turkey and cheese grilled sandwich! Absolutely perfect atmosphere. One of my favorite hidden spots. :)

Adorable place next to the Market Basket. Ample parking and lots of seats outside. Inside, it’s a cosy converted farmhouse with hardwood floors and creamy buttercup walls. Staff (it was one person in the morning) was friendly and made a good cup of coffee. I noticed some intriguing ice cream flavors like Oatmeal Cookie and Moose Tracks but it was too early to indulge. Bathroom is clean but does have well water so don’t be surprised when you flush!

It’s set back a little bit from the road (right next to the general store/​market) so I always missed noticing it whenever I was driving by but I read about it on here and made a note to check it out when I was in the area again. Once I knew it was there it was incredibly easy to find.
Fantastic indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is very lovely and has a beautiful garden/​patio. No dogs in the fenced in area but there’s also some seating in the back that may be pup friendly. But don’t quote me on that.
Inside it retains the lovely feel of the old home it’s situated in but there’s plenty of seating to be had (although even all that was filled up on a gorgeous fall Sunday). Plenty of coffee drinks (fair trade and organic) and Guernsey Farms ice cream. A few bites like a soup of the day, some baked goods, a few sandwiches and some smoothies round out the menu.
Super cute and friendly. The perfect place to grab a bite to eat, a coffee, or a snack before or after a visit to the Franklin cider mill but totally worth a visit all on its own.

This was a great little hideaway spot for a morning coffee date. Totally quaint and off the beaten path… just keep in mind that if you haven’t been here before that it’s tucked off the road a bit. I passed it at least twice trying to find it.
The coffee was fantastic and the folks running this place were really friendly and service was as fast as any decent Starbucks I’ve been to but far more chill. They have a nice little sitting area with a tiny upstairs and a deck area that’s open and comfortable. Definitely worth dropping in to check out!

So I tried this place for ice cream and coffee at the tail end of a record snow and cold michigan winter. It’s set back behind a prepared food market in downtown Franklin. If you haven’t been to this neighborhood, it’s a quaint old downtown that «time forgot.»
Walking in I knew it would have a decent review just because of the ambiance. Nice old renovated farmhouse with plenty of parking.
It’s definitely a local small business since it lacks many of the commercial marketing you see in stores like this. No displays wit product, just an old bookshelf with books and magazines to peruse during your visit. Also there’s a shelf area with newspapers and games.
The ice cream is very good. I had the Irish mint. My kids had the caramel caribou and cake batter. Everyone loved the ice cream. I had a dark Sumatra coffee as well that was good.
The place has a small upstairs loft/​balcony with additional seating. This place is a great place to hang out. I’m sure this place is a mad house in the summer peak though.
They have new owners that started Jan 2014. Seems like a nice family business for them. I talked to one if the daughters while there.
In all, put this on a place to visit when in the area.

Had a single of bear claw and grandpa’s blueberry — the ice creams aren’t very creamy, but some great flavors, some fun combos.
