Steve Schumm, DDS

I would have to say that this place has the friendliest staff I have ever experienced in a place of business (let alone at a dentist!). Dr. Schumm is chatty at times but always professional and never distracted from what he’s doing. You can tell he takes pride in his work and it never feels like he’s rushing it. He takes the time to go over everything with you and answers any questions you may have. So far, I had an impacted wisdom tooth removed, teeth cleaning, and couple fillings done here in the last few months and the experience has been consistently top notch. Appointments have been quite punctual and I never had to wait more than 5 minutes. The receptionist there does a great job in accommodating my schedule and calling me to let me know when a time slot or date has opened up so that I could go there sooner for my wisdom tooth extraction (it was much needed!). Price is also fair for someone like me who doesn’t have insurance.

Our Dr. Schumm is a very special man. He and his staff are the most professional, talented, sweetest people on earth. I have always dreaded going to a dentist, but when my husband and I were referred to Dr. Schumm many years ago, all that changed! I actually look forward to going to see him as well as his whole staff! Dr. Schumm is such a talented man and I cannot even begin to tell you what a wonderful job he has done on our mouths. I have NEVER felt ANY pain and could literally drift off to sleep while he is working on my mouth. Such an honest and caring man, we highly recommend Dr. Schumm and his wonderful staff!

I have been seeing Dr. Schumm since 1998. He is an outstanding honest dentist. He is very knowledgeable and will refer you to a specialist when needed. Their customer service is incredible! Marilyn is very sweet and knowledgable as well and has been working with Dr. Schumm as long as I can remember. I highly recommend this practice!

Dr. Schumm once again displayed his empathy and professionalism by rearranging his schedule to repair promptly a broken crown. He reassures you by explaining all procedures during the dental process. We very much appreciate Dr. Schumm and his staff. If we could give 10 stars we would.

If I could give more stars, I would! Dr. Schumm is awesome. If you are looking for a caring, knowledgeable dentist, then choose Dr. Schumm. He performs an extremely thorough exam, and is concerned about your overall health in addition to your dental treatment. The office staff is personable and professional. Marilyn does an excellent job and was extremely helpful in scheduling my appointment and getting my patient forms to me. Dr. Schumm has made it very affordable for me to get my smile back, and I am so grateful. I give my highest recommendation and will certainly refer family and friends!
Update: I had a sudden dental emergency yesterday. I called the office, hoping to get an appointment sometime this week. Marilyn was so wonderful; she insisted that I come right in. I arrived at the office and was called in to a treatment room right away. Dr. Schumm was so calm and reassuring. He is so thorough and does such an excellent job. He explained everything as he went along, and I felt absolutely no pain from the anesthesia injection. Explaining what to expect in the days going forward went a long way in addressing my concerns. Dr. Schumm and his staff go way above and beyond, you leave feeling like they truly care!

Rarely does a person comment that they are «looking forward to going to the dentist.» But that is exactly how I feel when I have an appointment to see Dr. Schumm. His staff is exceptionally personable and compassionate. Dr. Schumm’s skills as a dentist are excellent.
That said, this is not what most makes me want to encourage others to seek out this dental practice. Rather, it is their heart for the community and commitment to serve those in need. I would guess there are many great dentists out there. I would wonder how many are as dedicated to giving back to those in need as Dr. Schumm and his team!

WOW, I am very shocked to see a 1 star review for Dr. Schumm! That guy must have been having a bad day. I had quiet the opposite experience at this dental office.
I have now visited Dr. Schumm twice. First appointment was for an initial exam and the second for a clean.
I have to say, Dr. Schumm has made me a patient for life! Dr. Schumm is VERY PERSONABLE. He took the time to listen to me and my concerns. He gave me very helpful, detailed answers on what was causing my pain and what I can do to prevent and/​or correct it. He took his time looking over my x-​rays and communicated to be what he saw. All of his answers to my questions were very detailed and thorough. He did not rush any of the answers or any of my questions. He is a very knowledgeable and experienced dentist.
During my cleaning, which he did himself, we had a GREAT conversation. He is so knowledgeable in so many areas besides dental care. He did a great job cleaning my teeth and letting me know where and what I need to spend more time on in my oral hygiene. I was completely comfortable and pain free the whole time. Point blank, he cares about his patients!
Marilyn, the front desk lady, and the dental assistant were both very nice and very friendly. Marilyn calls to remind you the day before your appointment, which I like because I am very busy and forget these things sometimes.

He helps a program called Project Self Sufficiency, which is a program for single mothers in college. He helps these mothers without dental insurance to get the dental care they need to stay healthy.
My overall experience with both Dr. Schumm and his team was absolutely great and I would and will recommend him to everyone!

Dr. Schumm has been my dentist since I was a child… he has always had a «pain free» policy, which is VERY IMPORTANT to me. He does a thorough exam and is very knowledgable, educating his patients as he works. I now make quite a trek to see him, but it’s worth it. And my husband (who had a bit of a dentist phobia) recently went, and was so happy and relieved with the care he received. I have referred many family and friends over the years, and all of them thank me… Dr. Schumm is a great find!

I have been a pt here with my 3 boys for over 8 years. Dr. Schumm and Marilyn have always treated us with the respect and professionalism that one would expect from their dentist. They have been very accommodating with our busy school and sports schedule. My boys love Dr. Schumm and especially Marilyn!

Came her recently and had a bad experience. It was mainly with how I was treated at the front desk by a lady named Marilyn. I filled out the forms needed in advance and I still waited a long time. The dentist wasn’t all that personable but in all fairness did a good job at cleaning my teeth. This is a really tiny office in an old building. Bottom line, Marilyn could use more customer service training even at her age. Also, proper communication between patient and dentist I think it’s very important and that didn’t happen here. Me, I won’t return to this dental office and I won’t recommend anyone come here for their dentistry needs. With so many dentists in this So. Cal. area, why waste your time with bad service from a dental office?
