Social Security Administration

Went at 2:15pm Thursday and was served around 2:30. It’s on the 2^nd floor of the building. I was served earlier than the others because I think they had a booth for fast walk ins. Mine was replacement ssn. The officer outside was friendly and explained the process. And the man in the booth who processed it also explained some of my questions. The environment and air was clean too. :)

I came here around 11:00. And get b number. And the officers always call a number after a number finished then h number. I did not know why?

Came in on a Friday at noon. We were in and out in 15 minutes. Everyone was so nice. Not what I expected. Apparently the beginning of the month is the busy time so later in the month is better. Great experience.

After being on hold for over 30 minutes, I was disconnected. So I had to start all over and call back just to be put on hold for at least another 30 minutes. This is frustrating!

Walked in at 9:56am on a Tuesday, no appointment, out by 10:16. The very polite guard at desk search my purse, then escorted me to kiosk to get my number. The person at the window was very polite and took less than 5 mins.
My dad was applying for survivor benefits. We had a phone appt to apply which we had to wait 3 weeks to get, but the data they needed was clearly listed which made the phone call very efficient. Whenever they had info on file, we were just asked to confirm. We then had the option to mail the original marriage & birth certs or go in person to have them fax directly to complete Dad’s file. We decided to go in to the SSA office. Very glad we did!!!

I do like the security guy, and this office is air conditioned and does not take forever. Usually the ss office is like the dmv, but this is a good one.

I’m going to spend more time writing this review than I was in the actual office.
I showed up 9:10 on a Wednesday and went straight upstairs. Clear signs everywhere and plenty of parking.
The security guard was super helpful and you can tell he’s been there a while, really patient and directed you perfectly.
I was there for a replacement card and waited maybe 5 minutes to get called, barely made it through my Instagram feed.
The girl that helped me was nice and pushed my request through. Now just 2 weeks until I get my card.

This was easily the most pleasant paperwork experience I have ever had.
Clear signage in the parking lot and building.
Easy parking.
Different ticketing for different requests (I was getting a new SSC after getting married, which takes about two minutes to process, so I wasn’t stuck behind someone who needed 20 minutes to accomplish one thing).
Very friendly and calm employees.

I’ve been married over a year and have been dreading coming to the social security office, after hearing all the horror stories. The office was really easy to find. Once I got upstairs the security guard walked me thru the sign in process and explained what I would expect on my visit. I probably waited a total of 20– 25 minutes. All the staff was really friendly and the offices are kept clean.
The fact that I was in and out so fast is impressive thank you to everyone at this office!

Smart to arrive early, bring a book or iPad, comfortable clothing and layers in case it gets chilly. The seats are moderately comfortable and the crowd is considerate.
You’ll be in for a wait, so block out your day. Like all government offices its staffing is not adequate to the demand. It took over two hours to turn in an application for a lost SS Card.

I wish I had the experiences other Unilocalers have mentioned, but I’ve tried twice now to change my name at this office and the first time I waited for an hour and they’d only called one number so I left. That was a Thursday at 1:15pm. Now I’m here on Friday at 10:15am and one number has been called in 20 mins. Fingers crossed I get out of here within 2 hrs.

Don’t bother calling the 800 772‑1213, constant hang ups or pretenting they can’t hear you (sure). Make appt. and go in person and get copies of everything as chances are what they say will happen usually doesn’t and they often have «no record of that». Get employee names and employee id#. Good luck!

No complaints about the staff, however the system needs a major overhaul. Dont be lulled by the reviews of 15 minutes or 30 minutes. I went on a Friday, arrived at 10:30 am, checked-​in, and sat down to wait. Asked the security guard if he had an estimate of the wait, he said based on the crowd size, about an hour. Ended up waiting for 2.5 hours! I would have waited longer, but several #‘s had given up and left, so they were skipped over. My business took 7 minutes.
Why no online appt system?!

Nice location and great service. It’s not crowded like the offices in Long Beach or Lakewood.

Went there on a Tuesday, got there at 8:00 am even though they open at 9. Just wanted to be there first in case there was a line. A few people started hanging around outside the office at 8:15, so I finished my breakfast in my car and joined them.
When they opened the doors at 8:45, I was the 5^th person in line with about 10 othes behind me. The funny thing was, it’s on the 2^nd floor! 2 elevators and the stairs greeted us when the doors opened! I felt like I was on the show Survivor where depending on which option you took, it would jeopardize your position! Had to get up there pronto!
There was another line forming upstairs! And I was happy to say I regained my position while others were not as lucky! Mr. Security guard called us in one by one and directed us to the kiosk. The kiosk spit out numbers based on the reasons we were there, and they called me first! A33!!! Yaaaay!!! 15 minutes in and out, not counting the wait for the doors to open.

Showed up at 9:30 to have my last name changed after getting married. Filled out the form at home so I was ready. Was out by 10. Parking wasn’t bad. Pulled into parking lot that had the «Social Security Administration» sign. White building right there. Elevator right inside to take you to second floor. The officer checking me in knew every step for the kiosk for signing me in. Not that much seating but enough that I didn’t have to stand around looking for an open seat for 2. My number was A134 and the current one was A126 so not that much of a wait. The lady who processed it was nice and quick. No problems.

The building is located on the corner of Warner and newhope on the newhope side. The building is a little hard to see so follow the signs. The office is located on the 2^nd floor.
So many people here!!! The service is slow but it seems efficient enough. I mean everyone is coming here for different reasons so it makes sense. It took me an hour to get called blehhhh. The receptionist didn’t talk much but it’s fine. Nothing wrong with that, I just wanted to get out of there! Overall satisfied with the service. But I never want to come baaaaack.

Had a lot of time to kill in between work appointments so decided to pop into this social security office location to change my name.

The security guy was very friendly and the woman who helped me was very pleasant and polite. Would definitely recommend this location if you need to go to an SSA office.

In short… avoid window #3.
I visited this office after getting married to change my last name. My visit happened to be during the government shut down of 2013 so I was told to return when the shut down was over. OK, no big deal, I left and returned a week after the government had started working again. I expected a long wait, but I was in and out (without an appointment) in about an hour. Not bad.
Visit #3 was a few weeks after I got my new card in the mail and realized the buffoon that had helped me had spelled my new last name incorrectly. Umm… that was the ONE thing I came in to change and it was spelled right on the application, the marriage certificate and my ID but despite seeing it on 3 documents he still managed to spell it wrong. With my luck I got called by the same guy. He’s the white guy with a sit/​stand work station at window #3 who helps 1 person for every 3 – 4 that window #4 helps. So we’ll call him molasses. He called me up and this conversation happened.
Me: «I was here a few weeks ago to change my last name and it was spelled incorrectly on my new card»
Molasses «Did I help you last time?»
Me: «Yes»
Molasses: «Oh»
No apology that he messed up, no indication that he felt embarassed by his mistake, no regret that his error had caused me to have to take more time off work to come and wait yet another hour so he could fix his mistake.
As a government employee myself seeing such an ambivalent person working at the social security office with zero customer service or soft skills irks me. I get typos and mistakes happen, but it must happen to this ass a lot because he wasn’t even phased by it.
