Sandeep Dang, MD

Dr. Dang is the BEST nephrologist. He is brilliant, caring, knowledgeable and the most efficient doctor in his field. He continues to monitor and care for my mom’s end stage renal disease.
As my mom is not in the norm as a dialysis patient, Dr. Dang can think out of the box and has every solution possible. I am grateful for him and his staff for their professionalism and caring.

A very well run practice and great doctor. Efficient workflow, didn’t have to wait for the initial check-​up or speaking to the doctor. Dr. Dang is very knowledgeable and put me at ease with my condition. No English language barrier, answered all my questions thoroughly without me feeling rushed, and outlined informatively what the next steps were. Definitely recommend this doctor and office.

I’ve never posted a comment before but I thought I should tell people about my experience in Dr. Dang’s office. I was referred to Dr. Dang by my primary doctor for episodes of severe abdominal pain. Further testing suggested I had kidney stones. My first impression was that the staff at reception was friendly and efficient. Then I was brought into the exam room by a nurse who I thought was polite and friendly. During the exam, Dr. Dang was calm, patient, and knowledgeable. He listened to all of my questions and answered them. I did not feel like he was in a rush to see the next patient. He even drew a picture to help me understand how kidney stones could be causing the symptoms I was feeling. 5 tests were ordered for me. At this point, I would have given him and his staff 5 stars.
Over the next weeks, I completed the ordered tests. 4 of the tests required me to wake up very early and arrive at the lab at 5am so I wouldn’t have to miss work (took 3 separate visits to complete). The last test was very uncomfortable and humiliating for me. No one warned me of the process of the procedure and what type of clothing to wear, etc. I feel like the Dr. or the office should have walked me through it or given me tips before I was sent there. Because of this, I would adjust the rating to 4 stars.
THIS is when I lose their respect. During the week I had my scheduled revisit to discuss the results of the tests, I suddenly found out I had to move to another state (almost 3,000 miles away). Coincidentally, (maybe due to the sudden stress?) my family and I contracted the flu and had raging fevers. I called the office to cancel my appointment. A woman with a small, sweet voice but terrible attitude answers the phone. Conversation as follows:
— I politely explain my situation that I am not able to attend my appointment due to illness, and due to the moving situation I would not be able to reschedule to the following week or thereafter. I asked if I would be able to speak with Dr. Dang at some point at his convenience about my results instead.
— She rudely cuts me off to say, «Well that is what appointments are for!»
— I calmly restate, «But I am too ill to make the appointment this week… And I am moving next week so I will not be able to be there in person.»
— With that she snaps, «Well we cannot give you any information of your results over the phone! You have to be here in person with an appointment!» This I believe is a flat-​out LIE. My primary doctor has always given me my test results in the past over the phone with no issues.
— Me: «…So how will I be able to get my results if it is not possible for me to be there in person???»
— She promptly says she will put my chart on Dr. Dang’s desk and ask him to call me back.
This conversation left me feeling very unvalued and unimportant. I have never spoken to a receptionist or nurse and received such harshness, unprofessionalism, and NO manners whatsoever. I even called my primary doctor to see if they had received my results. She said that since Dr. Dang is the specialist in this specific area of medicine he should be the one to tell me my results. Okay fine.
I wait 1 and ½ MONTHS. No call back. Meanwhile I am in pain and waiting on results to be able to move on to the next step in diagnosis or treatment. I call back and again politely ask for Dr. Dang to call me with the results at some point that day or week.
ONE WEEK goes by. No call. I call the office back and this time someone intelligent and caring answers the phone (I believe the name was Jose.) He was professional and treated me with respect and understanding. He says that he will do his best to have Dr. Dang call me so that I can finally get my lab results relayed to me.
Finally at the end of the day Dr. Dang calls me back. I thank him for calling me back and explain I had been trying to reach him for almost 2 months and was unable to show in person due to my living situation. I was quite taken aback during this phone call as he was nothing like he was during my first impression exam. He seemed annoyed that he had to make the call to tell me my results. He seemed impatient and short with me. No doctor has ever made me feel so insignificant in my whole life. He said he had already left me a message regarding my results. I never received any message. Why would I continue to call if I had gotten the message?
CONCLUSION —
I waited 2 months to hear my tests were negative. 2 MONTHS waiting by the phone, for nothing! Waiting in pain while the Dr. and office staff (except for one person!) seemed to truly not care. The way I was spoken to by both certain reception staff and the Dr. is unacceptable and inexcusable. Every other doctor I have been to would call back within the day or week without me having to call them first! Very disappointing and inappropriate service here. Do not go here!
