History
Established in 1990.
We started as freelance graphic designers working with design firms and advertising agencies in Orange County and Los Angeles. In that environment there was never any direct contact between the designer and the client. Everything was filtered through an account executive and on down the chain of command, which we found to be a tremendous hindrance in our ability to do our job. Kind of like the old children’s game called telephone, where everyone sits in a circle and the first person whispers a statement into their neighbor’s ear, and then that person passes it along to the next until it goes full circle. By the time it gets to the end it’s an entirely different and distorted statement, as each person in the chain added their own interpretation to it. That kind of communication chain results in a design that doesn’t meet the client’s needs. We weren’t comfortable with that. When our clients meet with us, they talk with the people who are actually working on their jobs.
