Superb Builders

Came out to give a bid, but refused to do so until I got a lot of other bids. Reminds me of buying rugs in Turkey. I couldn’t understand what the entire interaction was for. Just a waste of time.

I cancelled the contract within 3 days and they haven;;t given me back the deposit even though the contract says refunds will be within 10 days. It has been almost a month and I can’t contact them so far. My $ 1000 is gone!!! Worst company to deal with. THEY ARE A SCAM.

A client of mine went through a nightmare with these folks. As a business owner I could not believe the level of depravity and poor practice this company puts people through! Home improvement and contract type work is stressful, expensive and time consuming. It disrupts our lives on a good day, so… when jerks like this put the buck before the delivery of goods or even basic professionalism, it pisses me off! Here’s what I couldn’t believe: there’s actually a clause in their contract that states «you are NOT allowed to rate them negatively on any social media or risk having a lien put on your home… «something ridiculous like that. Then, most of the money is paid up front. Here’s where good marketing, pretty pictures and good salesmen reel us in, and here’s another truth… if this company really did superb work and had fair business practices, they wouldn’t need all the bs just mentioned. They’d do a great job and be rewarded generously on social media. Their reputation would stand. Word of mouth is a powerful thing. So, I’m posting for my client, who went through hell with these douche-​bags Anything this company messages me will be made public, for all to read, since I’m told they’re bullies anyways. Bring it! Meanwhile, go find yourself a good contractor or small company that can stand 100% behind their successes, and shortcomings. Any business that tries to hold clients monetarily responsible for poorly done work — or NO WORK, then keep said clients from expressing disapproval via social media are just a bunch of swindlers.

I bought 10 Windows through Roy at Superb Builders. He orginally came out under the guise of representing a program that would give you a credit when you paid your property tax though a program that was interested in improving the curb appeal of homes in the city. I told him I didn’t pay property tax but since I wanted windows done anyway we went ahead with a contract. I emphasized several times that I wanted a back door replaced also and he said that would not be a problem, and that was also included in the contract.
The 2 gentlemen that put in the windows were out here at the date and time they said they would be and did a good job and cleaned up afterward. They were very polite and professional. That is the reason Superb Builders got the stars they got and had I only dealt with them, I would have given this company 5 stars.
Roy is the reason for the low score. He is truly a «wheeler dealer». n He came out on a Friday and was here for about 2 hours while we discussed different programs. The final contract was or $ 8000 for the windows and door. When he got up to leave I asked him if he wasn’t going to measure the windows and he said «I did already, didn’t you see me?» I thought maybe he had walked around the house and had taken measurements before he rang the doorbell to let me know he was here. Two days later on Sunday afternoon here comes Roy, unannounced. He said he was here to measure the windows and when I said that I thought you already had, he stated that his philosophy was «measure twice, cut once». So now he has to go around and measure the windows. To let everyone know how well his «philosophy» works…
the bathroom window was 2″ narrower than the actual measurement and one of the bedroom windows was made upside down. On the day before the windows were completed Roy spent approximately 1 ½ hrs trying to talk me into things I repeatedly told him I wasn’t ready to commit to yet, although I might like to have them done when I had taken care of some other obligations.
The next day, the window installers had barely got out of the driveway when here comes Roy to collect the balance on the windows and when I asked him about my back door, he said he wouldn’t be able to do the door, «the door installer said it was a special order and it would be about $ 1500.00». I told him there is no way that door was going to cost that much and told him to take the door off the contract. He removed $ 500 off the final bill and I disgustedly wrote him a check for the balance due for the windows. Was that the last I saw of Roy? NOOOOO! He came back 2weeks later, again on a Sunday afternoon, because he forgot I had already paid him for the windows — so after he scrutinized the signed off receipt, he left.
When Roy told me he couldn’t do the door because they didn’t have that size, I asked him how he knew because he never measured the door and he told me that the window man had measured it before he left — I know for fact that that didn’t happen and I think he just promised me the door up front since he knew how important that was for me to get done and I might have gone with somebody else who could do the total job.

Superb Builders are SUPERB!!! I liked the way they come in and do the job and DON’T leave for another job til they are finished with you. Very courteous workers. They had to put support beams thru my attic and tie together all supports under my home! Quite the undertaking. They had to replace my living room ceiling and when finished, paint. There is nothing they don’t do. All jobs are explained to you how they will get done. BIG jobs, little jobs, it doesn’t matter, SUPERB BUILDERS ARE THERE TO HELP!!!

I’ve had two projects done by Superb Builders. We bought a neglected 100 year old house that’s needed several upgrades and repairs over the 25 years we’ve owned it. Superb Builders is one of very few companies that I’ve had enough confidence in to ask to do another job. The first was a tricky remodel of a tiny bathroom to bring it to code and accessible for older folks. From their first call and quotes for the job, the personnel were knowledgable, friendly, and listened well, making sure they understood the issues and what we needed. Their price quote and time estimate was very reasonable and project specifications thorough. Their project manager is organized, a great problem solver, responsive and communicates well with both clients and his crew. All the building staff – plumbers, electricians, demolition, plaster and tile, finish carpentry, painters, etc. are skilled, conscientious, and clean up every day. Any remodel in an old house will have a glitch or two along the way. These were solved quickly and effectively with no additional cost. The project took only a little longer than the initial estimate (No one does a total bathroom overhaul in less than two weeks, especially over holidays). I tend to be very interested in how a project is going, hopefully without getting in the way, and I did some of the footwork to locate just the right materials myself. My level of involvement worked well with this company. Our second job was simpler: partially rebuilding two exterior sets of wood stairs, railings and landings that had various amounts of dry rot. They anticipated that there’d be more rot than we expected and with discussion solved the problems this presented. They got this project done in less time than estimated and again the set price was very reasonable. Their price and time quotes are midrange and the quality of work, time and materials are excellent.

I was looking at protecting my house against the El Nino. They needed to seal a lot of small cracks in the stucco and replace some dry-​rotted wood above the front porch and repaint everything. I was presented with a detailed list of what they would do … and they did it. The workers were organized, quiet and cleaned up everything, every night. Since the job was completed, I have received multiple comments from family and friends on how nice everything looks.

I am so happy with the work superb builders has done on my house. I sat down with them and discussed everything I wanted done and they worked with me on each project. I didn’t have much money and was able to complete each project needed I now invite friends and family over to my house because I get so many compliments. Q.S.

Swore to myself I’d never take a cold calling contractor again, given my recent experiences, but something about this guy impressed me and my gut said go for it. Met David and his crew, fixed up our kitchen. tiling looks beautiful and couldn’t be happier with the paint job. Shorty after the paint dried, David gave a courtesy call to follow up on us and our approval of his work. Professional to say the least.

I decided to go with Superb Builders because they offered a complete and supervised painting crew. Mikey, the sales rep went through a checklist of all tasks to be done, and costs. I was allowed to remove some items to bring the price down to a reasonable level. The crew arrived on time, got right to work and didn’t waste time. Walls were power washed, and repaired. Crew kept areas clean and neat. Mikey kept me informed on the status of the job, and called to see how the project was progressing. Whole job was done in about 4 days. Very neat professional job.

Beware these scammers — they preyed on my 84 year old mother. If you try the number they gave her (and the one here on Unilocal and the one on their fake website) it doesn’t work. It doesn’t let you leave a message and they won’t leave you alone. Check out the BBB site as well — they have a complaint on there for the same thing. I will be leaving another if they won’t quit harassing my mother…

I must say I was very skeptical starting from the telemarketing phone call in the beginning and then letting some stranger come to my house and give me an estimate on a new kitchen. But after meeting with my new go-​to-​guy «Roy A» my mind changed a little bit. He wasn’t pushy like most contractors/​salespeople I’ve dealt with in the past. He knew everything he was talking about, he was thorough and helped me come up with incredible ideas for my dream kitchen and AFFORDABLE kitchen, with a great finance plan that worked for me and my family. The work was absolutely on point and I would definitely recommend this company. Give me a try and if to Roy thank you so much for everything we’re so happy cooking in the kitchen almost every night!

Company cold calls persistently from a fake phone number to offer their services, after being asked about 5 times to not call the phone number again. Basically harassment.

Last month i contracted a kitchen remodel with superb builders and they did a fantastic job on my kitchen it was to die for i was so in love with my kitchen i would refer them to anyone in northern California. I had a total tear out in my kitchen they did my kitchen for 30,000 and gave me a new sink, dishwasher and stove for free i believe it was a special promotion. I say all that to say this, superb builders is a great company and they treat there customers with dignity and respect

Received a cold call from them and needed some work done so I made an appointment for the next day through Rick the scheduling manager. He told me the designer would call when he was on his way and have referrals from previous customers and pictures of projects.
The designer, Tom, did none of these things, although he arrived on time. We bundled a bunch of small jobs into one and he quoted me $ 1750, which was a good price. Too good it turns out.
David pressured me to sign a contract there and then even though I told him he was the first contractor I spoke with and wanted to get other bids. He told me that this was a special offer since he had materials left over from another job.
He left and I called him back about 15 minutes later to tell him I wanted to go ahead with the work, but he told me he found out his partner had already taken the materials (baseboard and paint) BEFORE he made the offer to me. So the offer was bogus.
He came back the next day and I told him that I wanted an estimate for the work including the actual costs for the materials. His bid jumped to $ 4200! I know the baseboard would be about $ 65 and paint for a bedroom and a bathroom surely doesn’t cost $ 2300! Paint is about $ 140 for 5 gallons.
I asked him in more detail about the leftover materials from the other job and he admitted that he had planned on using them on my job AND NOT REFUND THE EXCESS TO THE OTHER CUSTOMER. If you just had a job completed by Superb builders of Foster City, you may have been overcharged for materials not used.
After he left I called Rick who said he would get back to me in 30 minutes. Never received his call.
STAY AWAY!

During the big rains, we had leakage around the window that was replaced. Since we didn’t have this prior to the work, we called Superb Builders. When we called they wanted to make sure that I would retract the original review. At this time, I believe that you should read both and make your own conclusions about this company. I believe that because of the review that they came back to make sure that I was happy and would write a rave review.
They came right away and looked at the issue. At first, they thought it was something else that caused the issue, we checked the attic and the window drainage. Then, they checked the crack that was above the windows. Water had never gotten in there before causing similar damage. So, they sealed the crack. And it was determined that with the extra work that they did, that things were made worse in the crack area creating a new issue. They offered to paint the area where they sealed the crack. We were very happy with the resolution. and parted as happy customers. Superb Builders really wanted to make sure that we were happy with the work!
