History

Established in 1941.

In 1936, Horace Webb, or HB as he was called, owned and operated Webb Brothers Barber Shop in downtown Fort Worth. Passing time in between haircuts, HB happened to read an article in a magazine about a process that used evaporated water to cool surrounding air. In his spare time HB designed and constructed an evaporative cooling unit and promptly installed it in the barber shop. Webb Brothers Barber Shop was a popular gathering place whether you needed a hair cut or not and it did not take long before everyone in town knew of his creation.

HB pitched his new product to local merchants, and, in the spring of 1937, the first commercial installations were performed. One of the first being a restaurant in downtown Fort Worth know as «Mexican Inn Café,» which remains a local favorite dining establishment.

Production and installation of Webb Coolers continued on a part-time basis until 1946 when HB left his career as a barber to produce Webb Coolers for businesses and homes all over Fort W
