The Pit Barbeque

This is an old school barbeque house that I happened upon accidentally. On route to Ft. Worth’s fantastic musuem’s The Modern and the Kimbell I saw this interesting restaurant; the signage screamed real-​deal. I walked in and clearly was noticed as not being a local. Cowboy hats, boots and yes, even cowboys were eating there. The man behind the bar said «pick any seat.» I was next to the barbeque bar – I wanted to try one of each but I was concerned about spilling my food on myself prior to museum tours. So I ordered the chopped brisket sandwich with Texas toast. The sandwich was enormous; served simply with onions and pickles. I don’t normally eat such a large sandwich– I usually save half of the Rex sized sandwich for later. I couldn’t help but I consumed the whole thing. Each taste was a delicate, well done, perfectly chopped and the well-​doneness contributed to the experience and paired with the perfectly tangy-​sweet-​spicy barbeque sauce. This place is hard to find on online but I am glad I ventured to an area that perhaps no tourist visit and perhaps some people in Ft. Worth don’t know about.
