First and foremost, the brisket is soggy and good and the price is cheap. That’s the #1 reason why you come here. This place is «famous» and I hear it being introduced as, «I went there as a kid» — it’s been around that long. I’m sure it’s the spot for Fort Worth denizens to take their visitors to for a real BBQ place. It’s tucked away for those who are not looking and one wouldn’t be able to pick it out immediately driving around — someone’s gotta take you in or you find it beforehand. When you do walk in, the first thing is a short walkway towards the counter and there is a stuffed grizzley that has a slightly comical expression, then two other stuffed animals, one which is another bear. Then there are standing fridges with cold candy bars and little pies and I dunno if you want to touch those. The inside has a redneck cabin feel that uses trophy mounted animal heads as their décor. The tables remind you of a cafteria, but you didn’t come for nice tables. Then I looked to my right, I saw a tiny jackalope mounted next to the TV. Okay, that sounds like«oh noes» but hear me out. The people inside look exactly like you would find in this sort of place — the friendly southern blue collar type. there was a table with old men sitting around it — one had a trucker’s hat with his buttcrack showing — like a stereotype from a movie, but it’s all part of this place and it’s friendly. Because I’ve been to places like this, but some of the time the whole vibe was off and creepy… it’s not one of those. The man serving us behind the counter was super nice — the line was moving fast, plenty of movement happening in here. You gotta come here at least once to experience this vibe for yourself. It’s fun. And it’s good for what you pay for.

I really wanted to like this place, but I have yet to have good barbecue in Texas. Maybe I am expecting something different but their pulled pork was super dry, the pork tenderloin had almost no flavor, and the only thing that was interesting was the smoked sausage and honestly that was just alright. Nothing had the slightest bit of smoke flavor or that famous smoke ring. Also, it is not alright for cheap barbecue places to put«smoked» meats on a worthless bun that instantly fall apart. They serve the sandwiches on the cheap Walmart buns and they turn to mush the minute meat goes on them. I would rather just eat it without the bun if that’s how you are going to serve it. Good barbecue means good sides too, and this places doesn’t even try on their sides. The potato salad tasted like cold baby food. Finally, the wait was horrible. After waiting in line and getting closer and closer to the food. The more I wanted to turn around but couldn’t because we had already waited 30 minutes. The only plus side, it is kind of cheap.

Found this little place driving through and were not disappointed! Great brisket and ribs. Brisket tacos were amazing! Don’t go for the atmosphere. Its a hole in the wall, cafeteria style, but clean and great service.

Some of the best ribs I’ve ever had-a lot of meat and fall of the bone tender. The smoked sausage, brisket, and BBQ sauce are good too!

Angelo’s has the best pork ribs in the state of Texas. Period.

Angelo’s was okaaay, if you can get past the wall-to-wall decorations full of moose, deer, alligators, bears, etc. * The brisket was a little dry and tough because I came here towards the end of the night. It was still very flavorful though! * The RIBS!!! Ahhhh they were soooo good. So soft, they fall off the bone so easily. My mouth is watering right now thinking about it! * The jalapeño sausage was very good too. :) * The toast tasted stale. :( Pretty good prices for decent to pretty-good bbq!

Objectively one of the best BBQ spots in Fort Worth. I recommend the brisket. Priced well and they have schooners.

Number one barbeque, beer, beans, brisket, bear, and pickled jalapeños in Dallas-Fort Worth. My father’s father raised my father on Angelo’s chopped beef sandwiches. Like father’s father like father. God bless Texas.

I was volunteering at the north Texas food bank and stopped here for lunch. It was very quick which was good because we only had 30 minutes. I had the beef ribs they were okay but a little dry. The standard accompaniments were so, so. Slaw, beans and potato salad. Décor was interesting with lots of wild game trophies. For the price it should have been a little better.

Angelo’s is one of Fort Worth iconic dining establishments that is on a short list of favorite places to take out-of-town guests and so we did recently. While it had been some time since our last visit, not much has changed and the barbecue ribs are still as fall-off-the-bone, succulently delicious as ever, much to my relief. The ‘large’ beer now can be ordered with Texas Shiner Bock and it is served just as cold. Great place for reliably terrific barbecue.

I agree with the overrated remarks as well. I am not from Texas and was visiting on travel. I looked up some places to see who had the best BBQ in the area and this was one that was frequently on the lists. I expect good BBQ in Texas. When I arrived I could smell smoke which I thought was a good sign. I walk in and its extremely dated and dark. I felt like I was stepping back in time to the 80’s and not the fun and clean 80’s. I don’t think they have upgraded the place since they moved into that building. I ordered the beef plate they didn’t offer a waitress service for the time that I went so you ordered and sat down wherever you wanted. My first bite into the beef I realized I made a mistake. Terrible. Some of the worst I have had which was a surprise. the sides were also very mediocre. The Beef had almost no flavor, no smoke, no rub, no beef taste, nothing. I suspect this is another one of those places where you are supposed to smother everything in sauce. We had BBQ catered from a different place(wish I caught the name) for one of our business dinners.

Angelo’s is decent barbecue. It is certainly well known and has become a classic. I cannot attest to the past, but I was not super impressed. Sure, it was good; however, it was not super pricey good. I found myself looking around at all the trophy animals on the walls. One of my lunch buddies says, «They took all these,» and it hit me. I am not only paying for«pretty good» barbecue, I am also paying to support hunting excursions. Expensive hunting excursions. If you are visiting Fort Worth, you should try the place just because it is a tourist spot. I still eat there every great(great) once in a while.

Great chopped beef sandwiches if you like their style which I do. All the way is pickles onion mustard. Can add 1 of 3 kinds of cheese. Came here as kid etc so may be biased. Landmark place. Plenty of room. I visit whenever I can when in Ft Worth.

BBQ is awesome. If you’re craving some authentic Tx BBQ this place will take care of ya. Prices are a little high but quality is what you get. Don’t expect too much from the dining area as it’s basically a cafeteria style but there are plenty of hunting trophies on the walls. The place has been around for like 50 years so it’s a ft worth tradition. I just ate the combo plate for $ 15… Will fill you up if you have a huge appetite like me. Delicious

There is a reason that my parents have been coming here since the 70’s!!! The ribs are AMAZING!!! And the SAUCE is on point. Hands down, best barbecue in Texas(and maybe the world? ;)). Simple place. Order a pound of ribs per person(if they have an appetite) or half a pound for smaller appetites. The sides we normally get are the beans and cole slaw and those are pretty standard(nothing special about them)

Greasy delicious chopped beef brisket sandwich is where it’s at. I can’t review the rest of the bbq because the chopped beef sandwich is all I ever get. The potato salad is yummy too. Pro tip: ask for cheese on your sandwich. It’s a hunk of good cheddar cheese not a slice of nasty processed cheese. Add a cold mug of beer and you’re set. The atmosphere is… interesting. There’s tens(maybe hundreds?) of thousands of dollars of taxidermy decorating everywhere you look. Angelo Senior must have really enjoyed hunting. Usually you order in a line and the make your plate in front of you but today we had a big group so they sat us at a table and a waitress took care of us. She was hilarious and deserves five stars! She was calling us by name and cracking jokes with us while bringing us more beers.

It has occurred to me that I’ve never rated this place. I’ve been coming here for many years. How long you ask? Since they had sawdust on the floor*. The BBQ brisket is the very best anywhere. The BBQ chicken can be a bit over-smoked and a bit dry. Don’t be afraid to try it. Not to worry, the sauce also the best. I was surprised to learn the sauce is more North Carolina than sweet Texas. In other words until just a few years ago I always thought the sauce was real Texas. If you read my reviews you’ll know I have standards against which I rate places. Cesar’s restaurant in Forest Park, IL for submarine sandwiches, The Virginian in Buffalo, WY for lamb chops and Angelo’s. This is the place upon which I judge all BBQ, the standard. Other than one short lived place in Wisconsin, of all places for BBQ, no restaurant can match Angelo’s for BBQ. *Thanks to Amy D. of Mansfield, TX for the reminder of sawdust on the floor, not peanut shells. Even as I wrote peanut shells it didn’t seem right but I couldn’t recollect an alternative. THAT’S how long ago it was :)

This place has been here for ever. From the large collection of mounted stuffed animals and the bears in the lobby this place is as original as they come. They wood smoke their BBQ and chances are you are going to smell the wood smoker a block away. Simple tables and a very large back room(without waitress service) await. The service here is friendly, fast, and efficient. What I dig about this place is that you might see a table dressed to the 9’s in designer clothing sitting next to workers in steel-toes, and families with kids running around. I love this mixed clientele, and loved the brisket sandwich. I really can’t usually down a plate, but expect I could get it done if need be. They also offer by the pound to go — so if you like it — take some home.

You get an old Western feel when you walk into Angelo’s. You’re immediately greeted by bears and a smoky bbq smell. You sit down and you are surrounded by deer, buffalo, antelope, and more on the wall! It seemed to be the hang out spot for the old timers of Fort Worth. I got a kick out of the place because it reminded me of my Grandpa and he would have enjoyed it. I got the rib plate. The rib plate comes with 7 ribs and 3 sides; cole slaw, bbq beans, and potato salad. It’s definitely a lot of food for $ 14.95.The ribs were good. I didn’t care for the sides. Would I be back? Sure. I definitely would take my Grandma here.
