I love this place!!! The BBQ is great! Also Garry Paterson goes there a lot, and other TCU players.

As pricey as their food is, you’d think there would be table service. Luckily, I’m here for their affordable ice-​cold beer and not for their dry-​as-​the-​Sahara-​Desert BBQ brisket!

A friend told me about this place a few times before and we finally had time to stop by today. The wait was short and you can’t beat what you get for the price. The ribs fell off the bone and the sausage sandwich was good. Wasn’t a big fan of the coleslaw though

Went here today for lunch. All my ribs were cold and were covered in Gristle. They were old, not fresh ribs at all.

The barbecue was great and the folks there were pretty friendly. I wouldn’t say the bbq was one of the best we have ever had, but it was pretty good. I think they could improve a bit on the ribs though.

Ehhh it was alright. The brisket wasn’t bad but i’ve had much better. I’d go here before a chain but I would pass this up for a place like woodys.

Real good ribs quick service and also has a drive thru. Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu because everything is real good. Highly recommend.

I’m from out of town with a group of 8 people, BBQ us!
I had one guy using SIRI to find BBQ places in Ft. Worth, excuse me while I whip out my Unilocal mistress. All reviews were pointing to Railhead Smokehouse.
Based on the reviews, great BBQ and choose your meat plate. They give you a tray and you dig in, simple. I see the BBQ butcher cutting some juicy brisket.
I also ordered a beer. This is now the third place I ordered a beer and it came in a goblet. Almost like a margarita glass? Is this a Ft. Worth thing? We’re drinking the king of beers, lets look like royalty!
We all loved our BBQ, I ordered a brisket plate with beans, cole slaw and potato salad. Everyone was happy with the restaurant as well as the food, a good time had by all.
If your an out of towner, you won’t be disappointed with parking or the large dining room.

Holy Cow. This place has the Bet Ribs In The World !!! I picked them up and the bone fell out … Outstanding. Fantastic. Good fries, slaw. And killer beer glasses. Great Texas feel … Get The Ribs… I’ll be back again this week to try more. Just Come Here.

Wow, given the rep of this place I was expecting so much more! Don’t even know where to start.
–Ribs were dry, meat was ok
–Potato salad was more like mash potato salad, no chunks of potato at all, flavor was poor
–Beans, ughhhh, two bites, no thank you
–Really didn’t care for the sauce

This is a landmark establishment of Fort Worth. I get the feeling that they’re coasting off an old reputation.
The Spring Creek BBQ chain is my bar. If you’re not better than Spring Creek, you’re not getting any repeat business from me. This place… suuucked.
I had the chopped beef dinner plate with potato salad and coleslaw, Mrs. Me had the combo plate, sliced brisket and sausage with fries and Mini-​Me had ribs with double beans.
The potato salad was meh. The coleslaw was decent… which was a good thing as I needed it to choke down the chopped beef. Think of the blandest, driest piece of cow you’ve ever eaten. Now, grind it up into the consistency of coffee grounds. Yeah, not a pleasant sensation on the tongue.
The wife’s sliced beef was barely better. At least there was moisture content beyond what was in the sauce. Her sausage wasn’t horrible, but whatever they’re using for smoke didn’t really add to its flavor and the casing was rather tough. Forget about the fries. No, really… try to forget them…
Kiddo’s ribs were cooked very well. Unfortunately, the smoke was, again, not worth mentioning. You can get better tasting ranch beans out of a can. I know, I’ve got a couple cans in my pantry…
The sauce was tangy. Note, I didn’t say it was flavorful, just tangy.
Quite a few people were enjoying their beer «schooners». I think that’s the real reason anyone is still patronizing this place.
Sweet tea is a serious thing in the South. These folks don’t seem to realize that.
Speaking of serious: seriously, keep driving until you reach the nearest Spring Creek. :(

Railhead used to have a location in Colleyville, when we lived there. We loved their french fries and ribs. The Colleyville location closed years ago, so we haven’t dined at Railhead in a long time. My daughter and I were looking for a place, near the Botanical Gardens, to have dinner and decided to take a stroll down memory lane.
So this is what Alzheimer’s feels like.
The restaurant’s layout, styling and atmosphere was as remembered, but the food quality was so degraded that I felt like I didn’t know the place at all.
I was thinking chopped beef sandwich, fries and a Shiner (beer for you non-​Texans), but the sliced beef sandwich was the daily special, so I had that instead. I grabbed a few jalapeños and we headed for a table outside. It was early evening, and the place was pretty busy, but we found a table, under the covered porch.
The sliced beef was very dry, stringy and tough, unlike any I’d had at a Railhead before. I could only stomach about half of it, even though I didn’t have lunch and was ravenous. The fries I so fondly remembered were slightly warmer than my body temperature and cooled, to inedible corpse temperature, rapidly. They had quit carrying Shiner Boch, so I settled for a Ziegen Boch (is that a Texas beer?). It came in a large frozen schooner and was one of the two high points of the meal. The other high point was the jalapeños. I love them hot and crisp. They did not disappoint!
So, the things I liked, were those items delivered to the restaurant as served. No preparation was required. The food, actually prepared by the place, was just awful.
In Texas, there are too many great barbecue restaurants for this to go on for long. It’s sad to see a once-​great place fall completely apart, but it appears that has happened here. Paraphrasing their t-​shirts that say, «Life’s too short to live in Dallas.» I say, «Life’s too short to eat mediocre barbecue.»

Just don’t go there at dinner time! This place is so popular you could be standing in line for 40 minutes or more! But, it’s well worth the wait!!!
I love the brisket, the ribs, the hot sausage and all their fixins. Love this place!!!

Great BBQ and plenty of it.
I had the ribs plate. Just enough for lunch without going overboard. Ribs fell off the bone. Lots of good meat.
Also, I LOVE that they had a 25% off discount for military and first responders. Very nice way to show their appreciation.
I will add this to my places I must visit when I’m in Fort Worth.

I went for all meats for my lunch, and it was ok.
Slice Brisket: I asked for «moist», got more lean than moist. It was damn good roast beef and very well cooked but not smoked well.
Bologna: nice, but not smokey.
Salami: very good char and quite tasty and I’m going to pay for all that sodium later LOL
If you like limp fries try their Fries&Onions (get a small unless there are 4−5−6 of you sharing).

The moment I stepped out of the car on the restaurant parking lot, I knew from the strong smokey smell that I came to the right place for some Texas barbecue. The interior looks like what you would expect from a traditional Texas BBQ restaurant: wooden, country-​focused décor, and lots of neon beer signs, except the whole establishment was also clean too. I came here for a BBQ brunch and was not disappointed: this place serves one of the best BBQ I had!
On the menu, you can see the plate or the dinner, which vary in the number of sides and possibly amount of meats, with each meat as the entrée on various price levels. If you are indecisive like me, go for the combo plate, which includes two types of meats and three sides (An order of fries is considered two sides) for $ 11.99. I chose this because I was torn between chops (A highly recommended choice from Unilocal) and ribs (My personal favorite).
The chops were indeed as great as people have acclaimed: even without adding the BBQ sauce, the juicy chops were so flavorful and smokey and it’s delicious either alone or in a sandwich. The ribs also delivered; I love how the smokey and tender meats easily separated from the bones. Usually in other places, I have to cake the meats with the sauce because the meats alone were relatively bland, but here at Railhead, the meats themselves actually have the spotlight and the sauce was merely a complement like a good BBQ restaurant should be like!
Overall, if you are visiting the Fort Worth area especially if you are planning to visit Kimbell Museum or TCU, Railhead Smokehouse should be your meal destination. The BBQ here is a must-​have!

A little stingy with servings for the price and taste. Not a regular joint but maybe with a good crowd of people you REALLY like. But if you like them you’ll recommend another place. Meh.
Obviously it’s a bar that happens to have mediocre food.

You can smell the wood burning scent even in the parking lot. This is the real deal when you walk in. Stand in the line cafeteria style and order your meats which are cut to order and the sides. This is real authentic smoked BBQ with the vinegar based sauce. They have all the favorites; baby back ribs, brisket, sausage etc.

Your classic Fort Worth BBQ restaurant. As you drive up to it you notice that western look with seating indoor or outdoor. As your walking down the line to place your order, you’ll see Fort Worth’s location, trains, and awards they won in BBQ competitions.
You can buy sandwiches, plates and/​or buy by the pound. You can enjoy it with your Texas tea, soda pop or a nice cold one. You got it bar inside the restaurant.
They also have a drive thru, if you want it to go.
Ok ok the BBQ is fantastic!!! I enjoy their pork ribs. A dry rub, smoke, and BBQ sauce on the side with a side of smoke saugage or in the smoke bologna, he’ll yeah. But can’t leaving without their brisket my wife will hang me if I don’t. Lol
Not a big fan of their potato salad or beans they ok. Family likes them, I just need the «MEATS».
Check them out!!! You won’t regret it.

Reliably good barbecue in typical Texas style (get in line to order and pick up your food). Have been here several times during visits to the Fort Worth Stock Show or the cultural district area. Prices are good, food is very good. I’ve enjoyed ribs, pulled pork, brisket with all the usual fixin’s. I’m not wild about their french fries and I like the potato salad the best, though the sides are fairly ordinary (beans, cole slaw, potato salad, or french fries). Beer is served in large cold schooners or you can settle for iced tea or soft drinks.
The place gets crowded right after work and during the Stock Show. And very, very noisy (rowdy?!)
