Rahr & Sons Brewery

I used to be a die-​hard Shiner fan… then I discovered Rahr. For a more flavorful Texas brew, this is the way to go. Ugly Pug and Stormcloud are my go-​to drinks. The brewery events are a great affordable evening out. Ten bucks gets you a pint glass and enough drinks to get a varied sample of their offerings. Bring some friends and enjoy the casual atmosphere if you want a break from the crowded and smoky bar scene.

I have returned countless times since my first review. I still love this place, and honestly I just got done reading the 4 – 5 bad reviews about this place. Really guys? You must be the grumpy kind because except for maybe once I have had an excellent experience at this brewery. It is still my favorite brewery out of Martin House/​Revolver and the newest addition to the scene Panther Island Brewery. Wednesdays are still my favorite days to go because its mid-​week and already we all know we need a break from the monotony of our daily lives. Even if it’s only for a couple of hours. I am happy to report that I now drink and enjoy Ugly Pug; I have drank many dark beers since then. The only Rahr beer I will always refuse to drink will be the Angry Santa. *RANDOM STORY TIME! When asked what the worst beer they had on tap, the friendly folks over at The Gingerman Pub where quick to serve me some Angry Santa. You might be asking why would you want the worst beer? I lost a game of Jenga to a friend and I owed him a beer so I had to get him the worst I mean THE BEST beer on tap of course. :)
Now aside from that I still highly recommend Rahr. I keep introducing more and more friends to it as time passes. My only concern with it right now is all the construction that is going on around it. I know they are really trying to give his area a facelift and I don’t have any doubts that it will be a beautiful area one day. It does scare me a little, that the apartment homes they are building right in front of Rahr seem like they might house some people who might not like the lively crowd that usually attends Rahr. I am hoping for bigger and better things for this Brewery that could. Come one, come all!!!

We were given a pint glass when we arrived and were able to taste all the beers…
I actually liked every beer that I sampled!!! (and yes, I took small samples because there were so many choices).
Rahr & Sons is a great location for any type of event… and I’ll have to check it out another time when it’s one of theirs!

This place is a joke. The majority of beer they have is a joke and the only good beer they have they limit you to one only. If you’re a fan of brewery tours avoid this place. With a packed house the only have 12 taps open when they have way more then that. If you like standing in line in a hot humid shack this is the place for you if not avoid it at all cost.

Love this place! The brewery tour is so much fun! $ 10 gets you a sweet beer glass & 3 beers. The specialty beers are the best. My favorite is the Iron Joe. Coffee & beer… You cannot go wrong. Plus they have live music and food vendors.

I usually go to the Wednesday tastings.
I arrived yesterday at 4:51 p.m. there was already a line outside. There is a lot of construction going on around Galveston Ave, so parking was a lil bit of a hassle.
The doors open at five, you show your I.D., give the nice lady $ 10, grab a glass and you are on your way to an awesome evening.
The tasting occurs in a warehouse– so dress accordingly. I left work and headed over, so unfortunately I was in heels — sucks for me, standing on concrete. But– oh so– worth it!
You take your glass, and your handy dandy wrist with your bracelet of magic over to a pourer. The bartender will give you all kinds of information about the beer if you have not tasted it before. It was smoking hot outside, so I stuck with the ales. They were really light. And, they were all delicious.
Read the big black board first. The board does change. Yesterday, there was a mystery brew. Look… Then, ask questions.
You can bring chairs. You can bring pets. They even let you bring your lil tykes. So, no need for a baby sitter. You can order pizza and have it delivered there. Or, there are usually food trucks out back. There was a brats vendor there yesterday.
Fun! Fun! Fun! Ft Worth is really laid back. There aren’t any strangers here. Someone will always talk to you.
Get there early, if your are an IPA Stout drinker. You want to get all three pours.
**You don’t have to drink all 3 drinks if you don’t want to. **Remember, know your limits. It is Texas Heat + Cold Beer + 2 hours to make it happen
I usually always end up talking to some serious beer affectionados. And, I love it.
Farm tables, that game (Corn ???), food trucks, inside potty and porta potty sounds like an awesome mid week Party!

This is place is great if you’re looking to just hangout and drink some beer. It’s really cheap, always packed and you get a beer glass. The restroom situation kind of sucks but other than that it’s a great place to head to after work.

First off I have to say this place on the weekend is great. Pretty hard to beat $ 10 for 3 beers and a glass. With that being said their berets are average at best. Muted flavors and nothing you can’t get a better version of from somewhere else. Best marketed small brewery in FW but not close to the best. Also, so may kids in this place!

It took me way to long to venture out to Rahr. Cool brewery in a developing area just out of downtown Fort Worth.
For $ 10, you get a pint glass and three beers. Dang good deal! There usually is a food truck out back as well.
The brewery often hosts cool special events, such as races and a bike swap meet, which is what got me to finally check this place out.

You want me to drink 3 beers in two hours? Are you out of your mind? I didn’t even get two down, which is probably all you SHOULD drink in 2 hours. DWIs just waiting to happen. This is a sad sad state for Ft Worth brew scene.

Love this place… For a brewery, it’s great to visit and hang out at for their open-​brewery days. The lines can get pretty long, but the lines are mostly inside, which is convenient on the hot days! They usually have food trucks out back, and tons of picnic tables to sit at and sometimes they have lawn games. Plenty of room, good beer, just bring your walking shoes if you don’t get there early, you may have to park several blocks away — and we know we aren’t used to walking much here in Texas… Especially where the sidewalks are missing. :D
A typical ticket is $ 10 – 15 for 3 beers and a souvenir glass. If you don’t drink, you get in free!
Dog-​friendly out back — and please bring your own poo-​baggies and clean up after your furry friend!
Get down to Rahr and Sons!

Large brewery with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Food trucks and vendors on site Saturdays if you want some lunch or a snack with your beer. Bands playing almost every weekend which is a plus. $ 10 get’s you a Pint glass to keep and 3 beers of your choice but, your only allowed 1 seasonal beer. Your free to walk around to check out the facility which is nice since some places only allow this on guided tours.

I have been drinking Rahr & Sons for awhile now but this weekend was the first time I had the opportunity to visit their brewery. The result was nothing short of a perfect Saturday afternoon. Upon entry they give you a Rahr & Sons glass you get to keep along with a wrist band which gets you 3 pints of beer. When I went they had a live band playing outside. Many Fort Worth locals came prepared with lawn chairs and several got up to two step during the mini concert. It goes without saying Rahr & Sons beer is outstanding. If it’s your first time I suggest you try their Winter Warmer and their Texas Red. Winter Warmer has a rich full body flavor, be careful though it is 8% ABV. Texas Red is an amber beer and is amazingly smooth going down. If you are free on a Saturday from 1 – 3 head on down to the Rahr & Sons brewery you won’t be disappointed.

B-​E-​E-​R sweet sweet B-​E-​E-​R and really really good beer.
Their Saturday and Wednesday tasting tours are always a lot of fun. For $ 10 you get a pint glass and 3 fills of that pint glass with your choice of many different beers.
In the warmer months, this place can get packed but it’s always fun to people watch, have a couple of beers, and chat with your friends.

For the $ 10 brewery tour, you get a wristband good for three beers and 1 pint glass to keep. This brewery tour limits you to 1 «strong» beer and 2 light beers. Keep in mind which beer they mark as «strong» because my wristband was mismarked as strong when it was just the Ugly Pug beer and my friend got the same beer and it was marked as a light beer on his band.
There are only two restrooms indoors but several porta-​potties outside near the food truck. I nearly experienced a bladder perforation in the line for the indoor bathroom, there was always a line about 15-​strong the entire length of the tour.
None of the beers tasted like cough syrup, even the strong ones, so that’s a plus in comparison to some beers from other breweries that try to make strong beers. Bummer that you only get one «strong» beer during the tour of your three samples.
Service is great, the bartender offered me four samples before selecting my first of three beers included in the tour! That’s definitely a first in my experience at Dallas brewery tours and gives Rahr a huge plus in customer service.

To be fair, when we arrived here we were already in a bad mood. We had just waited over 2 hours in the hot sun for some brisket at nearby Heim Barbecue. An afternoon of ice cold beer seemed like a great pairing for a Fort Worth adventure.
We arrived around 1:40pm, 40 minutes after they opened. Parking is a real cluster and no one knows how to appropriately street-​park to allow the maximum amount of cars to fit. We honestly would have been better off walking from Heim; we ended up parking only 2 blocks away from where we were parked earlier.
ID check and paying was really quick, and the folks at the front friendly. For $ 10 you get a glass and a wristband. The bartenders mark off your 3 beers on your wristband, and you get full-​glass pours.
When we walked around the huge wall separating the entrance from the brewery… we walked into a wall of PEOPLE. There were thousands of people stuffed into the massive brewing area. We were not expecting this.
We quickly found our way to the bar. The lines were long. When we got to the front, we found out that people were taking their sweet time picking a beer, tasting multiple kinds to decide what they wanted. The bartenders were really kind about this, but it’s really not a life or death decision. Just pick one. I finally got my blonde ale and got out of there.
We wandered around the brewery to get a lay of the land. Basically people EVERYWHERE. This is by far the largest brewery I’ve been to, particularly for a tour/​tasting type event. There was a band but we never found them, just heard the music piped through. There were tons of vendors, mostly non-​profits looking to spread their message.
Having just stood in the heat for over 2 hours, we were aching for a place to sit. There were picnic tables and tables, but not enough for everyone. The smart folks brought camping chairs. Any empty tables/​chairs were monopolized by someone saving the area while their friends were away. And while you are inside a warehouse, it is not air conditioned. Pair that with all the people there, and it was still very, very hot. Pretty much everyone was sweating and looked overheated.
We finally plopped down at a spot where they had some jenga set up. Young kids ran around us while they screamed and played. It was at that moment, that I realized that if my husband and beer were not present, this would be my own personal version of hell. Hot. Tons of people. No where to sit. And screaming children.
My husband wasn’t having a blast either. We had to get the heck out of there. So we left around 2pm. I threw away my half-​beer and glass. Overall, a real waste of money and an afternoon. I have no idea why people like this place… it was pretty awful. Maybe, just maybe it *might* be fun to come back in cooler weather. Their beers are great, after all.

Rahr and Sons Brewery is the place to go and hang out with a group of friends. You can’t beat three beers servings with a different specialty beer each time you go. Pay ten dollars cash or credit and get a cool looking theme pint glass for a variety of choices. Some choices are blondes, stouts or porters, and reds… a must when Fort Worth, Texas!

I LOVE this place!!! $ 10 gets you a cool pint glass +3 beers. If a seasonal is on tap, then you get another ½ beer too!
Atmosphere is awesome. They have vendors, food trucks, and sometimes music. A little store where you can buy Rahr swag that is very reasonably priced.
You must try this place at least once!

Oh guuuuuurl, this my spot. Find me here every Wednesday and Saturday. Guuuuurl, get you some beer from here. It’s delicious. AND NUTRITIOUS! You want a mixed drink? Ain’t nobody got time for that!
Start off with an Iron Thistle, twerk. Wash it down with a Storm cloud, cumulonimbus. Finish that off with an Ugly Pug, raw. Then, prepare for a hangover, cause you just done !@#$ed up.

If you live in Fort Worth this is a place worth visiting! $ 10 admission, rahr pint glass, and 3 pints of rahr beer your choice (year round and seasonal).
We got there a little at 1pm, parked a block down, not too much of a walker. No line since it was after 1pm, lots of people inside, and more coming. Paid $ 10, greeted with a rahr pint glass, walked in and filled my glass up with beer!
Honestly I’m not much of a beer drinker. A nice gentlemen as me to try a strawberry ale, he mixed 2 beers together I want to GUESS red ale and a blonde (not 100% sure, ask just in case) and that wasn’t bad! I’ll usually cringe my face but it was drinkable.
This is a great place for beer drinkers! Doors open 12:50pm-1:00pm, drink 3 different types of beer, tour at 2:30pm, closes at 3pm. So you have a short amount of time to drink 3 pints of rahr beer. 2 people I came with left with a little buzz, good thing we had a DD.
If you live in Fort Worth, enjoy beer than come out to the rahr & sons brewery! It’s something you have can check off your bucket list!
