PR’s Saloon In the Stockyards

I wouldn’t go back to this place. The bartenders are not very friendly but the thing that made me give this place one star instead of three is their water policy. My friend ordered some drinks and then asked for a water with her drink and the bartender refused to give it to her because «their policy is not to give out water to prevent homeless people from coming in and asking for water». I’ve been to hundreds of bars close to where homeless people roam and I’ve never heard of this before. You can clearly tell that when someone comes in and pays for a drink with an American Express card that they are not a homeless person.
There were a lot of people two stepping but honestly if you want to do that there are plenty of bars in the area that are better than this one.

I liked the atmosphere, didn’t drink, but my friends had no complaints in that department.
Dance floor was kinda small, but it’s a small venue. Music was good. Police presence was noticed.

Why would anyone go here? There were 20 of us bar hopping in the stockyards and so we stopped by. The girl at the door informed us of a cover charge. I asked if they had a live band playing and was told they did not. So let’s see, bars galore in stockyards with no cover and IF there was one it was because they had a live band playing. Why would you pay to go here? Looking inside there was not many people there while other bars all had good crowds. Could have sold at least 2 rounds of drinks to 20 people, instead, we went elsewhere and won’t go back.

Tee… Rash…eeee. But in a good way. Heavy cop presence, a mix of dooshface country songs and booty hip hop line dances. X handed chix secretly slamming lemon drops in the corner then getting called out by the cops that are in the bar watching them. A steady Marlboro fog, Jell-​O shot girls, and more smoke. A great place to feel creepy if you’re over 30. Pawrty!!!

I have been to this place multiple times. It is a good time everytime, but the place is a little trashy. I like how they have a dancefloor and they have an even spread of country and top 40/​rap music throughout the night. The drinks are average price. The bartenders are cute and friendly. It really picks up as far as the crowd and dancefloor goes around 11:30 or so. This is the place we go when we have under 21 friends that come along.
One night I was dancing on the dancefloor with a drink in my hand and a cop pulled me off the dancefloor and told me to go outside. I was pretty confused, but then realized my armband was under my sleeve. I showed him then he said «oh ok» and he let me go. They are pretty strict here as far as underage drinking goes, obviously.
On Friday’s and Saturday’s there is a $ 5/​$ 15 cover charge. I would rather go to a nicer bar and not pay a cover.

PR’s is pretty bad. Dead until 10:30 — 11:00 or so when suddenly it just gets packed. The sign out front claims «Voted Best Place to Meet Singles». Everyone must have seen that sign.
Early in the night, there’s some couples on the dance floor. Some are very good. Others aren’t, but everyone’s having a good time. Then the singles crowd rolls in. Almost every group through the door is only guys or only girls. They huddle together and ogle one of the other groups and wait until they’re drunk enough to work up the nerve. Soon the country music stops, some heavy rap starts up, and the volume knob gets turned all the way up. You know when they turn it up so loud that you can’t even tell what song it is anymore? It’s that loud.
This is when the small, dance crowd leaves and all that’s left is, for lack of a better word, «bros». The country music eventually returns, but still at maximum volume. The dancing turns from line dancing and two-​stepping to grinding.
The bartenders are just awful. There are three girls behind the bar and two people trying to order drinks. Took several minutes to get one of them to acknowledge either one of us. When my friend went back to the bar to get another drink, they couldn’t find her tab or her credit card. Keep in mind there’s a crowd of maybe 15 people and they’re already overwhelmed and losing credit cards. The only way to fix it was to tell the current bartender our old bartender’s name. She never told us her name, so we had to wait for her to show up from wherever to get more drinks.
I’m still confused as to how that even happened. The tabs were wrong at the end of the night, but looked like they were probably close to what they should be. Just thankful that the card wasn’t lost.
Drinks range from decently priced to overpriced. Some drinks are served in a stemmed mason jar with a flashing ice cube. I can’t decide if that’s cool or terrible. For as long as I can remember PR’s has been notorious for rampant violence, but I haven’t seen one there. Granted, they’re also «world famous» for a bikini contest, but I’d never heard of it until I saw a sign on the door.
It’s basically a good place to go in the early evening when Billy Bob’s has a high-​price act coming in. I guess.

I ordered a drink for a female friend. When she got up to dance a guy she was talking to earlier picked up her drink and walked away. I went to him and told him I bought that drink and he needed to return it to the table. He told me to fuck off. I went and told management. At first the manager was very sorry, got another drink, and thanked me for being levelheaded and not starting a fight. When I showed him who it was, he obviously knew this guy and blew off the entire situation. The Guy later came by and said «you didn’t know who I am». I told him I don’t know who he is and really don’t care. These people are scumbags. I will never go there again.

I kinda liked it. Very interesting people, and some semi hot guys, for texas that is.
Its not as bad as portrait here. Yes the bouncers are a little scary but they are guys, its their primal instinct to be badass and a bouncer thing to chase the Vs (you know. female huha)

Eh… this dive of a bar gets way too loud, crowded and smokey during the evenings. I also hate country music, but I guess I should’ve expected as much in the Stockyards. The whole area doesn’t feel safe, though.
The drink specials and staff are OK, but I’d rather go somewhere else.

A Chicago girl in a country bar. Yeah it happened. Wasn’t sure how I felt about it. It seemed like an alright place to drink and hang out. They had a dance floor for country dancing. That was new for me. Do was the guy throwing salt on the floor. I’m assuming so nobody slips? Anyways not my thing but I was feeling adventurous and tried it. Oh the drinks were cheap but ok. They didn’t have much of a variety. Like I said not my thing.

Decent bar to get cheap drinks and look a hot cowgirl ass

Been here a few times on Sundays. The crowd is a little less to be desired. They play typical TOP 40 music on this night and the drinks are cheap. It has the country vibe you’ll see any where else in the Stockyards.
You’ll see a lot of young girls dressed real riskay.
Come here to hang out with your friends, definitly not to meet people.
Don’t be suprised if you see a fight, ha or for that matter find a meat head trying to start one with you because you looked at his tranny looking «girl».
