Esperanza’s Restaurant & Bakery

Stopped at Esperanza’s with a recommendation from a coworker and I just couldn’t believe I never been here before. I had a sweet tooth that lead me to this bakery but my coworker insisted I get a burrito. So what the heck, I got both!!!
I ordered me some pastries and a cheesecake pie that was not to sweet nor too boring. I also got me two lemon filling donuts that were not too sweet as well, which I’m ok with.
Then my burrito, I ordered a chorizo & added papas (potatoes) with cheese & eggs. For $ 3 and some change I got more than I expected. Very hot in temperature and big in size and veeeery delicious.
The only reason I’m not giving a 5star is because they didn’t serve Horchata during the week and the wait was kinda long for only three people (including myself) in the TO GO part of the building. I’m still going back, maybe next time to dine in.

Waiting lobby is unpleasant and has a waiting line rope. It took 10 minutes before someone actually approached me. Once the waitress left with the order, it took a long tome to get anyone’s attention. As for the food, mediocre at best. Not returning

Came here because of the great reviews and I was not disappointed! Fast, friendly service. The waiter recommended the dish I ordered, and it was amazing (green chili chicken enchiladas). I ate here about 2 pm on a Monday when it was not busy. I would definitely recommend this place.

Man oh man I have found my by panaderia! The bakery has some of the best pan dulce in town! But wait, the food is great too! They have some traditional she chilaquilles that are to die for. The pricing is reasonable and the wait to be seated is reasonable and overall an absolute Fort Worth delight. A must go location for sure.

LIne to get in. That’s ok, everybody says this is the place to go for tex mex breakfast in FW. Not understanding why after we ate there. The food had no flavor. Very loud, so hard to hear. I asked for a coke, server said, Pepsi ok? Sure. My gf asked for a coke, server said, Mexican coke? She said sure. What? That was a bit weird. I had the migas and my breakfast mates had lunch items. Chips served before we ate were stale and tasted like grease. Salsa was ok. The food had so little flavor, we asked for more salsa and waited… and waited… By the time we got it, the rest of our food was barely warm. Maybe we should’ve gone to the other location. One of my friends quit eating before she got half way through the plate. She said she wasn’t wasting calories on that food.
The rice was very good. Service was very lackluster. Fresh chips and better service would help. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing too. But the big piece of hard fat in the beef taco didn’t help matters any either.

I enjoyed the torta during lunch I do wish it had more than just meat. But the food was good regardless.

It is really difficult to find authentic Mexican in this town, not Tex-​Mex. The food was flavorful and we were treated with a mariachi band! I’m totally going back.

Good service, good food. Had the chilaquiles with chorizo in red sauce. Pretty good. Great bakery and clean restaurant.
Stupid app wants a longer review, don’t really know what else to say so now I’m just writing whatever comes to mind in order to make this review long enough.

This place is amazing. I’ve only been twice now spanning the last 1.5 yrs, but that’s because I only frequent this place when I’m home visiting family in Tx. The 1^st time I came I was looking for a place that did breakfast in Ft Worth so I could meet up with an old friend prior to his shift as a police officer (respect). This place had solid reviews, and since I hadn’t found a good Mexican place in Western MA (I didn’t know about you yet Sarapes… simmer down) I figured I could cross Mexican off of my must have cuisine while in Tx. Without further ado onto the food.
Food: One word Amazing. I got the full size Migas with chorizo and corn tortillas in a salsa verde. It was absolutely perfect with a healthy side of refried beans and their version of home fried potatoes on the same plate to compliment the Migas. Its exploding with flavor and it isn’t your standard Texmex fare that peppers the landscape down here. It was so good in fact that this most recent trip I took my parents out to breakfast and we all ordered the same thing, and no one was disappointed. Another delightful surprise was how freaking good their coffee was. When you’re only in town for 4 full days you tend to burn the candle at both ends. I’m not 21 anymore so I don’t bounce back as quickly after a night on the town. I desperately needed coffee but I wasn’t really sure how well that would go with the meal or the chips and salsa. I was amazed at how well the coffee tasted on its own, and especially with how it didn’t alter the taste of the food or vise versa. It may have even enhanced it if its even possible.
Waitstaff/​Ambiance: This place is a clean location with simplistic design décor, but still room to move between tables if you’re going to the bathroom. The staff is freaking Jedi ninjas! I wish I could remember our server’s name but he was the best damn drink refiller ever!!! I don’t think my coffee cup was ever less than half full and you would think my cup had a huge gaping hole in it. I’m pretty sure I saw him levitate the coffee pot to fill my cup whilst thwarting a swarm of curmudgeonly seniors from raiding the free mints.
Bottom Line: Check this place out, I know I’ve only tried one dish damnit, but it was perfection. Surely there other dished are at the very least an 8 out of 10. Get the coffee and marvel at the sorcery of how well it goes with your food… you’re welcome.

After years of being very satisfied with my annual tamales for our traditional New Year dinner from here this #NY2016 batch was disappointing. Each order looked as if it was rushed, half packed and sealed. Very messy. One of my guest even stated that their seemed to be a hair in hers. *Smh* I’m so disappointed being that my order was placed days in advance. The taste was the same but who wants to question the messiness of what’s inside. Sorry to say but gotta do it, CLUCK, CLUCK AND CLUCK!

Fantastic breakfast. When you know everyone in the room is local, you have hit the real deal. Some of the best refried beans I have in years. Service was so attentive even though she had a huge full section. Large portions, nothing fancy but stick to the ribs sort of food. We will return!

It was my first time coming here. I had the uno combination plate, it came with a sour cream chicken enchilada, a cheese enchilada, a crispy taco and rice. I loved the sour cream enchilada!!! To bad I only got one because I wasn’t a fan of the cheese enchilada. I did not like the sauce it came with!!! The taco was ok nothing I would order again. The only reason I would come back again would be for a plate of those sour cream chicken enchiladas… delicious!!!
My husband got the special of the day which was enchiladas verdes… he wasn’t a fan. He said they tasted like they had lots of lemon on them. I took a bite and I didn’t like them either.
I got a cinnamon roll to go from the bakery. Now that was delicious!!! I see myself going back just for the sweets they offer than the food.

We ate here twice in the span of 5 days and both times our food was pretty good. I think the chicken enchilada, beans and rice were the best I have had, and the refried beans specifically, were out of this world. The Ceveche Tostado was OK and could have been better had it had shrimp and not fish. I wasn’t thrilled with that selection. The Panaderia had great selections of cookies, breads, etc. Love the cookies!

Also, the Milaneza Torta. With the avocado.
It’s basically a Mexican chicken fried steak sandwich. And it’s unreal. Like unbelievably delicious. Fresh toasted bun. Fresh fried breaded steak sandwich. And lots of tasty.

Some of the most authentic Mexican food you can find in Fort Worth! When I visit Texas I always make time to stop here. The cheese enchiladas, Barbados, and chicken burritos are amazing. I always have the hardest time choosing what to order! Also there is Pan dulce to buy when you leave. Absolutely delicious!

The food here is usually a miss. The pan dulce however is always good. They have a huge selection. Get there early. I would give it a higher rating but anytime we’ve eaten there the food has been bland. I’m in it for the bakery to go! The staff is very sweet and helpful. Don’t let the older building deter you, it’s very clean inside.

Esperanza’s is a classic in Fort Worth. I love old style home spun Mexican food served in an older but clean building. The building is old though, and you need to be a little comfortable with this type of a restaurant.
I lived near the Mexico border for seven years and grew very fond of restaurants that had this kind of atmosphere. The atmosphere speaks of a genuine family operation. The service was speedy and friendly. I heard lots of Spanish spoken and I was the only non-​Hispanic in the room. I love an authentic restaurant and this is the real deal.
Ordered two tacos for breakfast: chorizo con huevos and huevos a la mexicana. It comes served with a complimentary semi sweet biscuit. The biscuit has a crunchy exterior, tender flaky middle, and a lite apple butter tasting glaze on top. I chomped into the biscuit before I could take a picture of it. My bad, sorry!
The huevos a la mexicano taco was delicious. Healthy serving of eggs with tomato, onions, and jalapeños cooked to perfection. The chorizo con huevos was perfect, simply sublime. The chorizo spice was strong and the eggs cooked just right. The tortillas were freshly homemade, and the salsa was served warmed and had a great flavor and a nice kick.
On the entrance side of the restaurant is a small bakery that serves traditional Mexican pastries. I ordered two pumpkin empanadas, one pineapple empanada, a large pink cookie, and some large huge pastry that had strawberry filling and a sugar glaze on top. It was very appealing to the eyes.
For my meal of two generous tacos and a large selection of pastries, it was only a little bit over $ 10. A very good price for a very good meal and a good selection of desserts.
I have a general rule that I operate by: if I cannot offer advice on how to improve a restaurant or the experience or the food, then I should leave a five star rating. I could almost quibble over the idea of updating the interior to modernize it a little bit and a few touch ups to the small bakery area. However that might take away from some of the old feel and authentic look. I would probably suggest they leave it the same.

good lord this place is gooood! i can only review here for breakfast, since that’s the only times I go. I always order the same thing, chilaquiles with salsa verde, which is basically the same thing as migas. it is THE BEST I’ve had north of Austin, and it may even be the best, period. I’ll need to have some more to verify that…
they get packed too, especially on the weekends for breakfast/​brunch. so, be prepared to wait if you come during those peak hours. in case you’re only reading my review, and you haven’t heard, it is a joe t garcias restaurant and they serve up the same food but have a much bigger menu. you can also order tamales here that are redonk! so keep that in mind when the holidays creep up on ya. you don’t want to serve up store bought tamales. that’s down right embarrassing!
p. s. if you go for breakfast, skip on the free weird little biscuit things. I don’t understand what they are trying to be… you’ve been warned…

Kudos to Unilocal for helping me find a great place for my college friend and I to meet up for lunch. My friend is from Mexico so I knew going in that if she didn’t care for this place we were in trouble. But my fears quickly subsided when I walked in and saw the pan dulce and menu items in Spanish.
The food itself is really good and a decent price to boot. I ordered a combo plate with enchiladas and tamales, which was excellent. This place is definitely not Tex Mex but authentic Mexican food and it is delicioso.

Terrible service. We sat down with a table of 5 and for at least 30 – 35 minutes had no water and no waitress. It was the Sunday, lunch hour rush, but it still shouldn’t be that bad. Mexican Inn has Esperanza’s beat on service and timeliness.
When we finally tracked down a server and ordered, everyone’s food was delivered except for mine. I ordered a fajita gordita and got a burrito… nice. My Spanglish was off. I ended up taking my food to go and it was delicious heated up in the microwave.
Items I got from the bakery were pink turtle bread (sweet bread), a sweet potato empanada, and coconut bread pudding. All were FRESH and DELISH.
