Specialties
A Piece of Work, Fort Worth’s first interactive art lounge, provides a stimulating experience for paint and wine lovers. The concept is unique and simple: bring your friends, your favorite bottle of wine and uncork your creativity to paint your own masterpiece. Offering interactive paint classes where participants follow along as local artists provide «follow the leader» instruction, no artistic experience is necessary. In a palette of trendy, lounge-like décor, background music that sets the mood, and walls decked with an array of eclectic paintings, you will feel as if you’re in a cross between a cozy wine bar and a swanky art gallery — except this one comes with a blank canvas and paint brush in front of you to channel your own creativity as it sparks with every sip! We specialize in Private Events– let us host your next Birthday Party, Shower, Team Building, Holiday Party, or any other event
History
Established in 2010.
How it all started
A Piece of Work was created by Dave and Deanna Kizer, opening in October 2010. Their vision became a huge hit! With eight successful months under their belts, the Kizer’s realized that between their full-time jobs in the day and evenings at the studio, something had to give. After pouring their hearts and souls into A Piece of Work, they wanted to see their dream continued…
Meet the Business Owner
Beverly and Leslie J.
Business Owner
After more than 25 years as the best of friends, Leslie James and Beverly Rector became business partners on July 1, 2011 with their purchase of A Piece Of Work. Leslie has a background in small business ownership, office management, and has been an artist since grade school. Her daughter, Jennye, one of the original artists at the studio, brought the idea of purchasing A Piece of Work to Leslie’s attention. Immediately excited about the opportunity, Leslie knew she would need a partner to help and it just so happened that Beverly was looking for a new career! Beverly enjoyed 20+ years of success in corporate America and stopped working a few years ago to be at home more while her children were finishing high school. During her hiatus, she began painting and interior decorating, taking courses to develop her artistic skills. With the last child’s graduation in June, she was ready to get back to work but was looking for something in the creative world.
