I’ve been eating greek/american-greek, food since day one. While there’re a bunch of decent spots for that in Bergen County, this is the one that’s totally won over my scarred little heart. It’s the one place that tastes the most like the food I’ve been served by my grand-relatives in Limnos(where my dad’s family is from) and therefore the best(outside Astoria, Queens). I like eating on the back deck or at the bar. Rustic-y ambiance all ’round. All the usual dips and dishes are fresh tasting and delicious. Something about the horiatiki just tastes especially good(even tho it’s like the same simple ingredients everywhere… maybe it’s just the way they cut the feta in triangles? w/e). In addition, the patates fournou are almost as good as my gyia-gyia’s, the avgolemono as my father’s, and the spanakopita as my own O:) I’ve dined-in twice and ordered out 3 times since moving to Fort Lee 10 months ago. Coincidentally, every time i’ve dined-in, there’s been no more than one other table occupied. Usually I’d consider that to mean something, so I’ve been reexamining everything I’ve ever believed since. In short: places like Its Greek to Me are good for a quick fix(something I’m still regularly in need of), but if you’re in the area, definitely go here first. I recommend a nice Grecian white wine with a bunch of spreads and hot appetizers as a meal. Or a rich red and that Arni gyiovetsi(yaas) if you eat lamb. For dessert: galaktaboureo always and greek coffee or glass of metaxa. Tryna get turnt?: some shots of ouzo and/or the classic ouzo and coke.

What a great small gem. Great attentive classic good service and nice atmosphere; white tablecloths but not stuffy. We didn’t see the outside café area. The lamb specialty was great, the spinach spanokopia appetizer was crispy and flavorful fresh tasting. Kebab/Souvlaki done just right and all presented nicely. Prices are reasonable; you can’t go wrong.

Decent venue. It’s a nice cozy restaurant with an outdoor dining area. The outdoor area could use some more tidying up. There were tools left out that made it seem like it was unkempt. Otherwise, the food was good and the service was friendly. A nice local greek spot for dinner.

Greta service. Angelo is wonderful. Their outdoor area is very nice and even if my cousins and I are at the bar catching up late in the evening the staff are extremely considerate and let us enjoy our time. I went back with my boyfriend for dinner and wine and it was a lovely relaxing evening with delicious food. I just need to try their fries. I ordered their gyro platter with fries but they brought out fries by accident so next time I’m definitely going to have to order the fries so I can test out if they are like the greek fries i love. Oh yes, and their lentil soup just made was excellent!!!

Had a romantic dinner with my husband in the outdoor garden last night. Each staff politely smiled and greeted us as we walked through the restaurant. The outdoor seating is beautiful, cute, cozy, and romantic. Perfect for a date. The octapodi were flavorful pieces of octopus that just melts in your mouth like butter! Delicious. Cold dip platter had 4 kinds of dips, all fantastic, comes with warm pita triangles. My bronzini was BIG, tender, and cooked to perfection. My husband’s chicken souvlaki was not dry(like other reviews). Slightly charred edges, but juicy center. We both thought it was very good. White greek wine suggested by our attentive and polite waitress was also very good. The waitress was informative, professional, polite, and attentive without bothering us every two minutes like other restaurants. I saw her come over and peek several times to see if we needed anything, but didnt iinterrupt us every time she came around. We basically ate our plates clean, and left feeling happy and satisfied.

Was expecting more based on the reviews, but mediocre at best. Service was incredibly slow even though there were only 4 tables full. One waiter for the entire restaurant it seems since I barely saw him. The grilled cheese appetizer was good but everything else went downhill from there. Bland chicken, potatoes, and even the baklava had no flavor. I will absolutely not return especially with so many better Asian food options around the corner.

A true gem for Fort Lee! Great quality food plus nice outdoor seating in the back. The owners are warm and friendly. Try the lemon potatoes and you won’t be disappointed!

I hate to say I was disappointed in this quaint Greek restaurant hidden in Fort Lee. I’ve been here twice and both times the food was mediocre. Grilled octopus was chewy and rubbery and the moussaka sat very heavy and had way too much cinnamon and clove. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and the staff was friendly. I would like to give this place another chance one day!

This is a cute little restaurant. I had the seafood casserole that was just delicious. I had a Greek salad with homemade feta cheese that they make in-house. My fiancé had the lamb souvlaki and pita with drizzled olive oil and oregano. The baklava is out of this world and the owner Angelo is a sweetheart. I definitely recommend this place.

Very cute restaurant with an option to eat outside when the weather warms up. Definitely a romantic spot for a date night! The service was very good. The food was just okay. I went with a group and friends and while nobody had specific complaints, nobody was raving about anything either!

Super great service. A owner is very friendly. The survice is very attentive. We had a house salad with grilled chicken and Pork chop & grilled salmon with melbec wine and chemay beer. It would be my favorite resturant. We had a great dinner last night

I’m so glad we stumbled upon this spot, thanks to Unilocal. It was a bit on the fancier side than we expected, but the food was absolutely delicious. The octapodi appetizer was something special — it was unique and delicious. And whenever I hear about octapus, I will think about eating it here at Santorini Taverna. If you read this review, seriously go and order that if you like calamari or scallops. It was heavenly, just like the beautiful ceiling art in the restaurant that strangely and slightly humorously features women with malfunctioning dresses.

Quiet little restaurant on the border of Ft. Lee and Edgewater. Specializing in Mediterranean cuisine and seafood, you can expect that their fish game is strong. On my last visit I had the porgi which was excellent. I discovered they have a take out menu which was a surprise, I wouldn’t expect this kind of restaurant to offer take out but apparently they do. I will need to try it at some point. They have a really nice outdoor seating area which is perfect for a balmy summer evening. Unfortunately since its the dead of winter, this area was closed last time I was here, and the interior can get a little tight. All in all, I would come again… or maybe takeout!

My wife and I met two other couples for dinner on a Saturday night, and what started as a promising meal went rapidly down hill. The waiter served and then replenished garlic bread with Greek olives in olive oil that was very tasty. Next, the owner welcomed us, offering an «appetizer on the house» of pita bread with fresh feta and other cheeses that was a fresh as could be. Next came a great Greek salad that was among the best I’ve ever had. Things went rapidly downhill from there… a rundown of main courses: 1– Good quality lamb chops(special) served with lemon potatoes, although it was ordered with veggies. 2 — Whole Bronzini which was great, but was missing potatoes and came with veggies. I gave my veggies to order #1 who told me that it was COLD on a cold plate. I asked for the missing potatoes and never got them. 3 — Gyro platter with three tiny strips of tasty gyro, Should have been on a kid’s menu. 4 — Grilled shrimp didn’t arrive. After we asked and waited for good amount of thime, a few small shrimp were delivered, served on an ice cold plate. 5. Chicken breasts. Just ok 6. Seafood in broth arrived with no side. A request for rice took a looong while The food is spotty… some excellent, some not so much. The waited fell all over to try to help, but didn’t listen and ran off to solve one of the many issues without LISTENING. An assortment of Greek desserts was ok, coffee was just warm and we weren’t offered refills. I used the word«inconsistent» to describe the experience, but I think my wife had it right when she said it was just bad. The food was generally good, but the service was way off. Not worth another try.

Wow, how did this place get 4 stars? I was so excited to try this place and was originally going to go to «It’s Greek to Me» for an inexpensive gyro but saw this place that had the same amount of dollar signs so we tried this place instead. What a disappointment. I showed up on Sunday around 7pm and it was completely empty with the exception of my table and one other. I was excited to order the gyro but they were out. Umm. how do you run out of gyro when you are a greek place. I hate when restaurants run out of staple foods, it shows poor inventory control. The waiter wasn’t even apologetic about it and couldn’t recommend another item. The waiter seemed like a bus boy, he wasn’t really friendly and wasn’t really helpful. My fiancé wanted to order an Old Fashioned and the waiter said«Oh, Old Fashioned Martini?» We already knew they wouldn’t know how to make it so they went for a Johnny Walker Black instead. My friend ordered a fish soup which tasted very lemony and«weird» according to her. My fiancé ordered a pork chop which was extremely dry and over done and my friend’s fiancé and I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki since there was no gyro and although it was edible, I must say thank God for the tzatziki sauce because it was extremely dry and not tender. It was definitely not juicy and didn’t seem like it was slow cooked. The manager/owner was really nice and I will say that’s the one good thing about the place. I do not recommend this place and would probably not go back again.

I was pretty disappointed in Santorini Taverna. We went on a Friday night and were seated right away. However, our table was literally in the middle of the room(the space inside the restaurant is not too big) and we had waiters constantly walking by us, which is a pet peeve of mine. They also had their front door wide open and it was chilly inside the restaurant. We got the feta cheese pie as an appetizer. It was ok, nothing special. Then, the waiter got my drink and my side dish wrong. I had ordered fries and he took this down as rice. Though this was not a huge deal, the level of service itself was severely lacking. I felt like the waiters were rushing around and not paying adequate attention to the customers. We didn’t have one waiter, more like three, yet none were around when we actually needed something. We were asked the same thing over and over again(i.e. whether we had already ordered). Getting the check took about fifteen minutes because we could not catch any of the waiters. We also weren’t the only customers with service issues. Another table across from us was also having issues flagging down the wait staff. A third table was asked whether they were ready to order and before they could even respond, the waitress had rushed off somewhere else. I also was not too impressed by the food. My boyfriend got the salmon, which was pretty good and the portion size was fairly large as well. But, I got the chicken souvlaki platter and only had about 4 – 5 small pieces of chicken. The rest of my plate was mostly rice(which I didn’t even order) and salad. Would probably not come here again unless the restaurant resolves its service issues.

We had dinner here this weekend and this is a gem. We are new to the area, and didn’t think that we would find this excellent Greek restaurant in a town with plenty of good Asian restaurants! We had the fried calamari as an appetizer… And the chicken lemon soup… The soup was better than most we have had in Chicago(our old home). The soup wasn’t too creamy. I had the Grecian chicken and it was seasoned and grilled perfectly. The lemon potatoes are excellent as well. We topped off our dinner with the galaktoboureko and Greek coffee. Service was exceptional. As we left, we passed by several other dishes being served to other patrons, and we think we found our next meal. The two dishes were a grilled fish and a seafood casserole. Can’t wait to be back!

This is a small, cozy restaurant, I would not recommend big group of people coming here if you’d like share the plates, the portion of food is pretty small, it is only good for 2 people. We went in last time with about 6 people, we ordered 4 appetizers and I noticed that the small amount of the portions and some people wasn’t even to get to try the dish just because the portion is very small, this is very odd for a NJ restaurant. Food itself is just OKAY, I don’t think it’s very impressive, I live so close to this restaurant that I can walk here, but I just don’t have any desire to come back again.
