we got pita bread appetizers and seafood for main dishes. those two food are highly recommend and less regret for choice. however if I give cons to this restaurant that will be they need more waiters or waitresses that insufficient services to take care of. which means takes some time to get a order from customer

I was really disappointed in both the food and the service here. Firstly, there is fish just out in the open next to the food prep area. It’s on ice but I don’t like seeing raw food across the room from me while I’m eating. There was also someone standing there and touching the raw fish, which I had a problem with. I don’t know if it was a customer or someone who worked there, but it was odd. We got the fried Greek cheese as an appetizer. I found it to be very salty. For my main entrée, I got the calamari with lemon potatoes. A lot of the calamari were charred and tasted burned. They were also very oily and greasy. The lemon potatoes were ok. I had some left on my plate when I asked to take the rest of my food to go. When I got home and opened the to go container, there were no potatoes inside. My boyfriend got the salmon and side of veggies. He liked the salmon, but I found it oily when I tried a bite. The worst part was that in the middle of our dinner, we were asked to move to a different table in order to accommodate a large party that was coming in. I found it kind of rude and inconsiderate, especially because we weren’t even offered a free dessert or anything. I won’t be back.

Really liking this place. I think we’ve been there 4 times so far. It may be a strange thing to focus on but their tomatoes are AMAZING. They must grow them or get them from a farm because they do not taste like the usual tomato from the supermarket. Their salads are fresh(lightly dressed if at all), whole branzino is always perfectly cooked and took less than the time indicated on the menu btw. Also good is the grilled calamari and octopus. Sides-wise their lemon potatoes are SO good. Rice is okay too but the potatoes are better. Oceanos says they have lemon potatoes too but I never taste lemon. Here, you can really taste it and the potatoes are chunky and cooked nicely with some pieces more toasty and brown than others. The service is fine, some waiters friendlier than others but always professional. Somewhat open kitchen, big TV and a bar-like area(sans alcohol of course) where there are some seats so easy to go alone, eat and watch. Every time we’ve been there there have been Greeks eating there(or I suppose I should just say people who were speaking Greek — I know the language — to be clear; can’t be 100% sure beyond that!) so that’s always a good sign. And it’s BYOB. My only wish for this place is that they would adjust the lighting — it is quite bright in there which makes it seem like a more casual place with more of a cafeteria-type vibe than a Saturday night dinner vibe.

Cute ambience and location but not the most delicious Greek food j have had. We got the kefte(meatballs), fried eggplant and zucchini, Greek salad and fried porgi(whole fish). Normally the salad has oregano and lemon, and whatever makes it a delish Greek salad… This was just tomatoes, cucumbers and onions in olive oil, no flavor otherwise. Meatballs were dry and acceptable flavor. The eggplant and zucchini again was just breaded and fried nothing amazing. The fish was good but a bit dry. Oh and it came with French fries which looked good but just fried– no feta, oregano, lemon on it… Oh well

I really enjoyed my experience at Syros. The interior looks very clean, fresh and what I’d imagine a restaurant in Greece would feel like. The space is small and the tables are close together. There was a party of 5 seated next to us and one of the diners began talking to us. I normally don’t mind this and his recommendations were welcome. We got an eggplant appetizer and my friend got the chicken kabob-like dish. I got the mussels and they were fantastic! I’d love to go again with a bottle of wine and try more food.

I’ve been here twice now, once for lunch and once for dinner. The interior of the restaurant is a very pretty blue, and it has a very Mediterranean feel to it. It just feels clean and inviting. I’ve had the befteki(hamburger meat) with lemon potatoes and it was delicious! Seasoned well, cooked great, portions big, and those lemon potatoes were amazing! I’ve also had their chicken souvlaki. The chicken is super moist and seasoned wonderfully. Both times that I have come, my friends and I shared their 4-dip sampler. I love the one with the roe in it. It’s salty and briny, and just delicious with the crispy bread and pita. This place is BYOB so bring along a couple of bottles and stay a while!

Authentic, delicious Greek food! This restaurant has a pretty laid-back atmosphere with a friendly staff. If it’s warm out, they have tables outside available. It’s also BYOB which is always a plus for me. I have had dinner here 3 times so far and each one has been memorable. This place is one of my favorites among the many restaurants on E Palisade Ave in Englewood. The food is delicious and fresh. The Taramousalata(caviar dip) is SOGOOD… I could eat it every day. It comes with freshly cooked pita bread which is nice and warm(I always ask for more). I highly suggest the grilled octopus appetizer– some restaurants do NOT know how to grill octopus(overcooked, dry, etc) but Syros Taverna does it right. The octopus is served already cut up so it’s easy to eat. I’ve had the lamb shish kebobs which are delicious; they give you a pretty big serving so you might have leftovers. Any fish I have tried here has been cooked perfectly(they have a display of fresh fish near the kitchen so you can see what’s available). I remember the swordfish being very good. The lemon potato side is also amazing. They also have desserts which are pricey but SO good… I’m pretty sure they get them from a local bakery though –nice to get 1 or 2 to take home. I will definitely be back again and again!

We were looking for a good place to eat that was open late and so glad we came across this one. The food was made fresh and the service was absolutely amazing. Every ingredient tasted as if it was picked in a garden in the back yard oozing with fresh flavors. Definitely coming back here.

I went on a weekday for lunch and both my girlfriend and I couldn’t finish any of our dishes, maybe except the spanakopita. Everything including their soups were extremely salty, not the good kind we like but BAD salty, inedible. My falafel was terrible too, there were 6 small pieces and I couldn’t even finish 2. Roasted vegetables on the side were also way too salty for me to even finish. My friend ordered a lamb souvlaki and the pieces of meet were probably the only thing we were able to eat and finish. The waiter was so nice though.

Food is good. Food here is damn good! The décor also takes me back to Greece. However, the service is a bit like Greece as well. The wait staff is rude. The management is only concerned with serving their friends. We went early on a Friday night and the restaurant was half empty. We were seated at a table about an arms length away from the POS station, where all the waiters go to put in their orders. It was absolutely ridiculous because the restaurant was half empty! We asked to be moved to a different(and larger) table but the management refused. He said they had«reservations» for later. C’mon its a casual place! No one makes reservations for this place! Needless to say, no one sat at the larger more comfortable table before we left. No one even came in before we left. Also, the table behind us was probably the owners friends, they were making a loud ruckus and were actually getting service. We had to wait forever to put in out order and to get water. I’d like to go back but the last time we went left such a bad taste in our mouths my husband refuses to go back. So sad because the food is good. I

I was working late in Englewood, and I went up and down the street to find a place open after 10:30. Either everything was closed or looked to noisy for my taste. I found my way to a place across the street from Bennie’s which I had lunch from the day before. Anyway I walked in, and wasn’t sure if they would take me so late. I was starving. I think the owner was eating with his family. he eventually looked at me and told me to sit. I was greeted by the waiter right away and was offered a glass of wine on the house. I took a look at the menu and saw that they had traditional Mediterranean food. Maybe their lunch menu is different, but no gyros on here. Their salmon dish founded very good, but I didn’t feel like fish. I order the Greek style meatballs for appetizer and chicken kabob for entrée. Food was brought out in a timely manner. I was starving and I devoured the meatballs which were enough for three people. They were moist and had great flavor. The sauce was great with them too. My chicken kabob came and I was really impressed, It was a large serving and the chicken was seasoned so well. The grilled vegetables were also delicious. I got rice with spinach as a side, that was very tasty too. I cleared that plate just as fast. The chicken was really impressive. I decided to go for dessert even though it was past 11, and I ordered some baklava. This was the first time I was even given a fork and a steak knife to eat baklava. If you saw how big the piece was, you’d get why. It was just as good as everything else I ate, but I’m not really the biggest fan of baklava. Price was what you’d expect for a quality meal like that. On the way out one of the family members asked me how it was, I told them it was great. It was a terrific surprise to get a good meal so late at night. I would love to go back to try some of their other dishes.

Awesome food. I had the chicken Souvlaki… Super moist, flavorful, with a slight crisp around the edges of the chicken and vegetable prices. Mmmm!

If you get the skinny/young guy, ask for a different server. The other two servers are very nice and quick. He’s a bit slow. The food is delicious! I’ve been back multiple times already. The BYOB is definitely a plus as well. Good food + my own Booz = happiness. Try the following: — saganaki — spicy feta — grilled octopus — barbounia — porghi(a more flakey Bronzino)

It’s certainly not fancy. In fact, the place is very institutional — plain walls, plain chairs, plain tables. A streamlined Chelsea like storefront place. Looking at it from the outside, it just doesn’t beckon you inside but what a mistake you’d make to keep on walking. What you’ll discover is a restaurant serving up absolutely superb Greek food that might take an extra moment to get to you because everything is prepared from fresh ingredients. No kidding at all on this — it’s amazing food perfectly prepared. I came here with friends for dinner and we had chicken kebabs, lamb kebabs, swordfish and bronzino. Every meal was outrageously delicious. We started with appetizers that were equally excellent. Among the appetizers was perfectly cooked octopus. Now honestly I don’t like octopus but my friends told me it was the best they’d ever had and preparing octopus correctly is not easy. There have been comments below about the slow service. We didn’t have any problems at all. Our waiter was very attentive. I can only speak of my experience — it was perfect. No one felt that we had to wait for anything. Another comment about running out of fish — well folks that happens when the only fish in the restaurant is fresh from the market. Frozen can be defrosted so supplies never fail. Again, everything here is fresh; it’s not easy to get this level of food quality. Another positive aspect is that it’s a BYOB. I always like the ability to choose my own wine for dinner. This is an outstanding Greek restaurant that’s family run. Give this place one visit and you’ll find yourself coming back.

I enjoyed a small dinner here and found the plates to he well made, fresh and fairly authentic — far cry from the more mass produced Greeks around. Ample portions and low prices too. Clean modern room.

Came here after work with a couple coworkers. Beautiful and elegant Greek restaurant with authentic Greek dishes. First off, it was great that it was BYOB. Our bottle of red wine complimented the dishes really well. Secondly, the owner personally came over to us to ask if we had any questions on the menu that he created himself. Waiter was also very nice. We ordered a mixed platter to share from amongst other dishes to share with our drinks. The bread was also perfectly toasted(not too soft with a little crunch and was still warm) and went well with the olive oil dip. It was our second time coming here and will definitely be coming back for more. My favorite was the caviar dip and the potato garlicky dip with pita. Best Greek restaurant around town.

This was actually my second time dining at Syros Taverna. I discovered this BYOB several months ago and had a bit of a negative experience on a Saturday night when they completely ran out of all of their whole-fish dishes. I was very disappointed, however I decided I would give them a second try before I wrote a review because I felt they deserved it. I am glad I did! For me, the second time was a charm, and I had a delicious meal from my appetizers to my dessert. The Appetizers: We ordered three appetizers. The caviar dip with pita bread, feta cheese and oil with herbs, and the grilled octopus. Of the three my favorite was easily the grilled octopus, it was one of the better grilled octopus dishes I have eaten, not over blackened, very juicy, and most importantly, very fresh. The Entrées: if you’re into fish, mediterranean restaurants are typically a good place to indulge. Syros Taverna did not disappoint. As I mentioned earlier last time I came here on a Saturday night they ran out of whole fish, this time around I purposely booked our table on a Saturday night to see if it would happen again; I am happy to report all whole fish dishes on the menu and offered as specials were stocked and available. I ordered the whole Black Seabass that was being offered as a special. The Seabass was perfectly seasoned with herbs, moist and fell off the bone. It tasted just as fresh as if I caught it with my own hook and line. The Atmosphere: I am not a fan of the tables; unless you reserve a 4-person table ahead of time you might get stuck at one one the micro-sized 2-person tables. Do yourself a favor and call ahead to avoid this pitfall. Regarding the ‘feel’ of the place I’m having a hard time describing it… Something like a 4 on a scale from 1 – 10 where 1 is a diner and 10 is a dimly lit upscale French restaurant. Considering the outstanding food they serve if I were the owner I would try and bump it up a few notches. 5-star food: value dropped to an overall 4 for the atmosphere issues listed above. I will certainly continue to dine here a few times a year.

DON’T BOTHERWASTINGYOURTIMEATTHISPLACEPEOPLE… SERVICEISHORRENDOUS… I came in with a few friends yesterday and upon entering we were not greeted except for the fact the cook looked unhappy he had to do his job. The manager did not say a word and we were not seated. After finding our own seats we were served water with dirty glasses and floating dust in it. We got up and walked out before ordering.
