I have to say is one of the best sushi places around! We had the mexican roll which was fantastic! Chasing tail to die for! The side salad was fantastic! They have a great happy hour $ 5 lychee martinis & they are great! Let me tell i just found my new place to grab sushi! Can’t wait to come back & try their thai food menu!

I’ve noticed the quality of the food go down over the past few visits. I ate there on Monday and was diagnosed with food poisoning on Wednesday and missed two days of work. I will not be going back. It makes me sad to post this review but public health comes first.

The waiter was borderline rude… ordered the tempura shrimp lunch for $ 12, there were 3 mushy shrimp, one piece of carrot, one piece of broccoli and some white rice and a salad… if it weren’t for my friend insisted of going there… NOT A CHANCE… Never like to eat japanese food at a thai owned restaurant… I have been going to Sasaya for years and would prefer that over this place.

The staff at this restaurant is always wonderful. Very friendly, patient, and happy to be there. Great with kids. We have been here for years, and the quality has improved a lot throughout that time. We are avid sushi eaters and enjoy very fresh cuts of fish. I highly recommend this place. The sushi is excellent. The new menu fabulous.

3 stars for service, 1 star for food. Not my taste. Ate same items in different authentic Japanese places and can’t put it on same level. Sorry, won’t be back

I adore the food here! The ambiance is sexy, romantic, comfortable, chic. It’s so close to my condo I just walk across the street. The service is outstanding. They all work together so well. I’m so happy this is my neighborhood spot!

Environment is three star. Very clean and open but nothing fancy. Food and service are four star. High quality and fast. Prices are just too high. You can go next door to Sasaya market for same quality sushi at lower price. Good for all types groups and events. God spot, but there are better.

Located a few miles from the beach is this sushi place located in a large shopping center. They have a great happy hour that is worth looking into. The restaurant is very nice looking and has tables or the sushi bar where you can sit to enjoy your meal. The service is okay… A bit slow and not the friendliest but they bring you your food and take your order when you are ready. I would say the food is average. I have had the miso soup and a few sushi rolls. Nothing really struck me as special about it. The fish is fresh but the roll was lacking taste. I ordered a saki martini which tasted pretty watered down… It was also eight dollars. As I said earlier I would check this place out for their happy hour but other than that you are better off elsewhere based on the lack of flavor and pricing.

This place is beautiful! The only Japanese & Sushi restaurant in Ft Lauderdale to be open late night AND serve a full choice spirit bar, only serving the best liquor and Japanese import beers. Select items are available on the menu for L8TENITES Thursday through Saturday from 11PM-2AM. This is a place I can bring my friends to vibe out to cool lounge music even after our work in the biz and most places are closed. We get to see new faces every weekend and it’s a great place to find new music and cool people. You should come sometime!

I’m all about second chances and I decided to give this place another shot. It has changed a lot since my last review back in ’11! Modern décor, friendly staff and most importantly, good food! I have been here twice in the past few months and both experiences were great. I really enjoyed the blue river roll and the JB roll. Their won ton soup was light and delicious. Would definitely recommend this sushi restaurant.

The ambience feels weird and awkward as soon as you walk in. The tables and chairs are strangely laid out and feels uncomfortable. We ordered miso soup to start, it was basic. Then gyoza as an appie, soaked in grease, the greasiest meal I have ever had easily. Then we ordered three rolls. The spicy tuna was okay but kind of bland, the tempura shrimp roll was good, the rainbow roll was horrific– it consisted of 99% rice and cream cheese. I’ve never eaten such a small roll in my life either. It’s really the size or half a roll, which is cut into tiny pieces to make it look bigger. They must think they are tricking their customers. And it should be called the cream cheese roll. I will probably break out from this. Anyway, the server was nice. However, they have way more people working there than is needed, so the staff are either just standing around looking at you eat, or trying to take away your plate sooner than you’re finished eating it, just for something to do. We will not be going back.

I have been eating here for years, I’m surprised to see bad reviews. A bit pricey, but the food has always been great. I do miss them having miso scallops on the menu, but the steamed dumplings are a nice alternative. Their rolls are always fresh and delicious. Having a full bar now is a major plus!

Went there with my business partner for lunch today. He always gets the Thai hot beef and broccoli and I always get sushi. Sushi is fresh and my partner loves the Thai. Great spot for lunch.

Ordered via Delivery Dudes, which is a frustration in itself as they didn’t double check the order or quality. Rolls are a disaster, splitting open, made incorrectly, and they smell baaad. Anything with whitefish is straight to the trash. Screw it, not worth the words, just avoid the place.

This place doesn’t even deserve one star… I sent my son in to get an order to go. He ordered a dragon roll and a chasing tail roll… besides being pricey the rolls were so small and tasteless and some of the pieces were sketchy. I do not write many reviews and the ones I have written have always been great… Wish I could say that for this place but it was so disappointing!!! I would NEVER go back.

I am loving the upgrades done to the restaurant; it is now open and modern. White drapes surround the windows, comfy seating on one side and table seating on the other. Heart Rock has always had great food and a great location with plenty of parking. I found the guy at the door to be extremely friendly and helpful.

Food with a complimentary side of food poisoning, no thank you! Even before I suffered my after effects of eating here I was not impressed. The place looks nice and freshly re-done with modern chairs. The service was good. The menu was lacking any innovation it was all the same rolls you’d see anywhere. There was nothing special on the menu. I ate a red dragon roll and subbed the seared tuna for raw salmon. And a spicy tuna roll. They were small for the price paid. Didn’t taste bad, but again nothing special. The BF had chicken pad Thai which was flavorless. On the meal alone I was gonna throw them a bone of 3 stars. But when your obviously serving a subpar product no matter how nice this place is, they need to get their seafood right. You always take a risk with sushi but in all the years and many places I’ve eaten it i have NEVER gotten sick. I recommend to stay far away!

Good little sushi place. We need a quick lunch before going to the airport so we stopped in. It was good and they had a nice food presentation. I got the tuna takti and the bai roll both were good.

Blown away. Sushi is amazing. Sashimi was very very fresh. Wait time on food was minimal. Very impressed!

Heart Rock is a sushi restaurant with drabby looking old wooden chairs, generally aged in appearance, and a place that could use some sprucing up. The signs in the windows of «Proper Attire Required» without an explanation of what that might be along with«No Trespassing» certainly aren’t the most welcoming and tend to raise, in my mind, issues of entering a trouble spot. However, it’s not a troubled area and certainly not dangerous. It would seem that the signs are more geared to prevent the swimming suited beachwear crowd more than anything else but that’s just a guess. It’s a fairly large restaurant, spacious, not just a hole in the wall sushi place. As for food, it’s not bad though the rice portion of their dishes tend to be somewhat large in comparison with the fish or seafood portions served elsewhere. The flavors are decent, but ordinary. The presentation is rather mundane and the service marginally acceptable. The prices, however, run somewhat lower than most other sushi restaurants which, with the lack of pizzazz associated with most sushi restaurant should be expected and which is one of the restaurants more redeeming factors. I’d probably rate Heart Rock at least 3 Star or maybe even Four Star if located out in the Midwest or where I’m from, in Appalachia, or maybe 20 years ago but since it is here in Fort Lauderdale and the year is now 2013 with so many other sushi restaurant choices, the best I can go is Two Stars. By the way, if you go to their web site most of the pictures, if not all of them, are not from their Gallery Mall location(so don’t believe what you see) and you will also note menu items conspicuously absent.
