All dogs are spayed/neutered, checked for heartworm, vaccinated, and microchipped. The canine adoption fee for puppies under 1year is $ 125 and for all dogs over 1 year $ 100. All cats are spayed/neutered, checked for feline aids & leukemia, vaccinated and microchipped. The feline adoption fee is $ 60 for kittens under 1 year, $ 50 for cats over 1 year and $ 75 for two. Broward County requires all pets who will be residing in the county to carry a rabies tag, which is given with the 3 year rabies vaccine.
History
Established in 1996.
APR was founded in 1996 when it began its mission to save the lives of cats and dogs and find them loving homes. Their 5,500-square-foot facility, located at 1137 N.E. 9th Ave. in Fort Lauderdale, was acquired in 1998. In the ensuing thirteen years, the shelter has provided adoptions for an average of 150 animals each year. This year was a record breaker at more than 300 and next year APR expects another 100 percent increase.
