Vincent Heavenly Pies & Pasta

Good place for a great pizza, or other things you’re in the mood for, soup is great, sandwiches also, smaller and laid back atmosphere, food is delicious! Won’t be disappointed.

I want to like this restaurant more, because I really appreciate the atmosphere, friendly vibe and staff. But some of their dishes are so bland and tasteless, it is honestly shocking. Perhaps I’m just making bad choices. Chicken franchaise (with a tasteless spaghetti side) and the house salad are both lacking in flavor. It would be great if they could add vegetables to dishes like the chicken franchaise, too, for some variety.

Wonderful food, service and ambiance. I almost passed up the opportunity because Unilocal had only 3 stars. This place is delightful! Nice music. Loved the outdoor seating!

Excellent place. Wife and I came on an empty Labor Day Monday night, got a flatbread spinach and artichoke appetizer pizza. Then we got a large Gyro pizza. Amazing concept and an amazing pizza. Local beers on tap and the bartender was friendly and talkative, and had many suggestions for us out-​of-​towners to check out on our trip.

Went for an early dinner on a Saturday night. Very small place, but full. Only one server and the bartender in the front. Got our drinks and appetizer in a reasonable time. However, the appetizer and drinks were long gone (at least 25 min) before our dinner order was taken; and only then because we asked if we could order. The food arrived and was nicely presented. No bread or salad was included with the entrees (our entrees were $ 16 – 17 smallish portions, but enough) which was disappointing. The entrees were ok. No dessert was offered so I don’t even know what they have. It was an ok experience; didn’t feel like anyone cared if we’re there or if we ever come back. Maybe it was too busy for one person. May try again … there are a lot of dining options in Fort Collins.

This was just a terrible experience! I am not coming back to this place. Here are the reasons why:
1) I came during lunch, thinking they will have a variety of pizzas and pastas available. I don’t know, maybe because it is in their name. But they had no pastas available for lunch. Such a misleading name of a restaurant, The waiter said that pasta is only available at dinner. How sad is that.
2) I had a very inattentive waiter. He sat us down and took a while to take our orders. He also didn’t bother to check up on us if we needed more water or to let us know how much longer we needed to wait for food. When he finally came around to our table after 30 minutes of no service, I requested a refill. That water was pretty warm and had no any ice.
3) The food took such a long time to come out. I ordered a Cuban sandwich while my friend ordered a half sandwich and salad. Sandwiches doesn’t seem like they would take a long time, but we waited around 40 minutes for our food. Plus our food was pretty cold. How does that even happen??? Was our food made and forgotten?
4) Half way through waiting for our food, I realized that I didn’t get asked which side option I wanted with my sandwich (either salad or chips). I asked my waiter if there was any chip option like how the menu stated, and he said that they didn’t have any. It would have been nice to at least notified prior to ordering.
5) My sandwich came with salad. The same amount of salad (but not in a bowl) as my friend’s half sandwich /​salad combination. But funny thing was that we paid the exact same price. So technically my meal got ½ a sandwich more for no price. What a rip off.
I would NOT come to this place. It looks like a classy place but I assure you, that is just a coverup on their poor service and food.

Great food in a strip mall building, wish they still did weekend brunch. Was one of the best breakfast menu in town.

Wow… boooommm!!! Home run. Vincent was outstanding! I ordered the seafood penne and a house salad. The penne was al dente with pan seared scallops that were perfect coupled with a very nicely done parmesan cheese sauce. The salad was crispy fresh spinach with apples and candied nuts. It couldn’t have been done better. The service was attentive and friendly and the atmosphere is tastefully done. 5 stars.

Never again. Met three friends here a couple of weeks ago during the cold snap and ordered pizza from their menu. Pizza came out on a cardboard disk! Yep, not only did they get it directly from a nearby supermarket, but they had no intention of pretending otherwise. For the record, it was the ‘Cuban’ pizza from the menu. Needless to say it was unimpressive.
Noise levels are loud for such a small place due to poor acoustics.
Steer clear. If these people are willing to serve supermarket pizza, then everything else is likely from a can or a packet-​soup too.

Stopped in for a drink here last night with a friend. Thought we’d could have a quiet drink and talk. Though a small crowd at 8:30 (one large party of 10 plus two tables), the place was noisy. Sound just bounced off the walls and floor.
Service was just that, service. Not good or bad, just was there if needed.
No real reason to return unless in the neighborhood and its raining and your car ran out of gas!

Great servers, really nice atmosphere and their pizza is delicious. I’m always surprised that it is not busier when I stop in for dinner or a drink.

No matter what a person’s tastes may be — conversations about food will always bring people together. You can debate politics and religion and find that your opinion of the person on the other end of the conversation changes for the worse. But you disagree about food and you still remain friendly. I don’t think you can find that to be true with any other conversation topic.
That’s one reason why Feasting Fort Collins has such a lively readership. Everyone relates to food (some more than others), and everyone loves to talk about it at length. Food is what is binding us all together, and if we should happen to sit down and break bread, we’d have something to relate to.
This was exactly my experience at Vincent’s. I met with two readers whom I’d never met before, on two separate occasions. While eating thick-​crusted pizza and tasty pasta, we had great conversations about food in Fort Collins.
Vincent’s Heavenly Pies & Pasta is a very small, upscale bistro in the nearly half-​empty commercial center on Drake and Shields. That north-​east corner is where the Drake Farmer’s Markets are on the weekend. Vincent’s sits behind Starbucks, and next to Phở-​Duy. Owner Brian Tessari opened up Vincent’s in May of 2007, and has been able to hold strong during the bumps and bruises the restaurant industry takes during a rough economy. He also owns the sibling restaurant to Vincent’s — Dominic’s on Lemay and Harmony.
All in all, I enjoyed my meals at Vincent’s. The atmosphere is intimate and classy — a great place for a date or anytime you need to be engaged in conversation, and the food was mostly above the mediocre standard in Fort Collins. While readers may or may not agree with my opinions about local restaurants, we still have fun conversation about it all, and still remain friendly. We will always have something to relate to when we talk about food.

Already looking forward to going back here again! My office is extremely close to Vincent although it’s been a long time since I’ve eaten at Vincent’s.
Got their «Vincent Lunch Salad» for takeout today and almost didn’t make it back to the office — it smelled… well, heavenly to be honest! Great mix of flavors and ingredients (I substituted roasted red peppers for the mozzarella but I’m sure the cheese would’ve been divine). I realize this is just a salad and I didn’t eat-​in but I was impressed with my purchase and will definitely be doing a business lunch or two here again soon.
Oftentimes there’s not enough flavor, too much lettuce, not enough ‘oomph’ to salads and it makes them far from satisfying and not worth the $$. I’d pay $ 10 again for that salad any day. Any day. I figure if they can make spinach sing to me the rest of the menu must be that much better!
But as I said, looking forward to going back and trying more of their menu — that smoked duck pizza I saw someone else mention sounds wonderful! A little pricier but I’m pretty sure you get what you pay for here.

My wife and I found this place a year or so ago. The food is always high quality and the atmosphere is great. It is small and more intimate than many other places town. I highly recommend the «White Lightning» pizza, which is always excellent. My wife likes the wedding cake martini, very tasty.
If I had to fault this place, I would say that some items are a little pricey (otherwise 5 stars). Definitely on the high end of what you would ordinarily pay for pizza, although other dishes are priced a bit more fairly. Overall, I have never had a bad experience here.

Around this time of year when Christmas is coming near, working for some people is just not an option. Responsibility to the public would be nice too! Case in point with Vincent Heavenly Pies & Pasta. I got off of work late and had to fend for myself since I was not dining at home that night. It was just a hair past 8:30pm when I rolled into Vincent’s. I looked at the menu at the front door and went ahead and went in. I love pasta dishes very much and have been curious about trying Vincent’s. There were two guys working there and they both looked at me like I grew a second head. I said, «Um… Hi. Just one for supper.» They are like «Oh, ok, anywhere is fine.» I sat down and the waiter that came said that he just learned that the kitchen was closed tonight. WTH? «Just Learned?» At 8:50pm? I politely said that I needed food and departed. They did have a bar and apparently that was all they were open for. There were just two other people in there. I went to an old reliable restaurant and had my supper. Nothing aggravates me more to be in a town that wants to roll up the sidewalks at 8pm. With the partial exclusion of Old Town.
I researched on the web and confirmed on the door that this place is supposed to serve food up to 10pm. That is when they close. The web had lots of info on them and no night was just bar night.
What the responsible thing to have done would be 1) have a sign on the door stating that the kitchen was closed. Things happen and sometimes a business can’t function fully when certain things happen. I would have understood this. 2) The staff should have told as soon as I came in the door that they were not serving food. I mean pies and pastas are in their restaurant name, not bar. How could you just learn at 850pm in such a small place that the kitchen was not operating? Perhaps I shouldn’t but I will give them one more try. Not because I feel obligated or feel like I owe it to them to give them a fair shot. That has already been done.
Someday though… someday I will be in a city and in that city I will walk in at 1130pm and eat at 1145pm and have some of the best pasta ever! Who knows I might even get drunk too.

I would have given them 4 stars or even 4 ½ because the food is really good, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is perfect.
However…
My wife and I decided to go there on a Friday evening to celebrate a special occasion. We live half way across town. When we got there they were closed because they were using the place for a wedding rehearsal diner. Since there is really no other comparable restaurant near by we ended up driving down to Loveland which is much closer to our house. Wasted an hour of driving through rush hour traffic.
Notice to all small restaurants /​bars don’t close on a Friday for some event unless you can live with the «Might be open, might not» reputation. Which if you don’t know can kill you in this town.

I don’t understand how anyone gave this place positive reviews. Two stars is more than fair for this fare.
This is the way I see it: one of the stars is for the superior service, which — as my boyfriend pointed out to me — could have resulted from the restaurant being completely empty. The second star is for the décor. In truth, this place IS chic for Fort Collins. We loved the ambiance — the high ceilings, the killer bar, and the cool light fixtures on the ceilings. We enjoyed the soft jazz in the background.
But, the food… Oh the food! Following the recommendation of another Unilocaler, I got the duck pizza. Upon ordering, I hesitated when the waitress said, «It’s popular» — in restaurant-​speak, this means, people order it, but I’m not sure why. Meh. Still, I ordered it. It was SUPER salty, and reminded me of cheap sausage. The crust was also too thick and doughy — not really light at all. And, I can’t believe how much they charged ($ 24). I expected brick oven pizza with a bubbling crust — not some horrible spawn of pan pizza & beau jos.
We also decided to split an order of the open-​faced ravioli. Be forewarned: this is NOT ravioli. This is some terribly sweet dish crammed on top of an undercooked wonton wrapper smothered in parmesan. Gross.
The appetizer of bruschetta we shared prior to the hauntingly disgusting entrees was decent. But, the mozzarella was ordinary. It was more reminiscent of a caprese salad shoved on bread than a truly italian bruschetta. Of course, at least, this dish was edible.
To sum up my harsh review: I would come back here for drinks during happy hour. But, it is unlikely that I would order anything solid here again.

It feels like San Francisco in here. in a good way. the metro fabulous kind.
Is this place really called Heavenly Pies? hahaha. They’re right. The Smoked Duck pizza is freaking amazing all the way to the chewy crust — it’s somehow light and filling all at once. I had a lot of trouble sharing with the five other people that crowded into one of the high chair tables :) with me. Thanks, Samantha L, for the recommendation!
They mix a really good cocktail, too. I’d come back.

Last night a friend and myself were searching for something new to try. I told her I was in the mood for pasta and we turned to the phone book for menus. Reading through we weren’t seeing anything that struck us and then she said «How about Vincent heavenly pies and pasta?»
Upon walking in we were greeted by a very attractive young man and an intimate setting. We took a seat at a table by the door and were then greeted again by yet another attractive employee. Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive even being the only waitstaff person (besides the bartender) in an almost full house.
We decided to take advantage of the «$ 5 ladies night» wine special and started looking over the menu. There was a great selection with everything on the menu sounding wonderful. We both chose to go with the «build your own pasta». (my friend is a vegetarian and this was a great choice but not the only meatless dish for the uncarnivorous)
As we were deciding, the table next to us was delivered the most amazing looking cheese pizza that I will most definitely return for. My friend got a side mediterranean salad to start and it was beautiful. I got a simple penne pasta with alfredo sauce, feta cheese, grilled chicken and broccoli. Not only was it beautiful, but it tasted AMAZING. The alfredo was nice and light so I didn’t feel like I was eating a stick of butter and washing it down with a quart of heavy cream. I then reached over and took a taste of the tomato cream sauce on my friends dish. DIVINE.
All I could co as I ate was think about the next bite. I had to force myself to stop eating so I could continue to wear the tiny jeans I had on. The portion was perfect for a great dinner and some awesome leftovers. I can’t remember falling in love with a restaurant so quickly.
Highly recommended. I can not wait to try everything on this menu.
