The Cellar Wine Bar

This was my first time coming here and I left with nothing to wine about (get it?)
This is a great place to come and spend time with friends. Good wine selection and a solid selection of craft beers too!
Small plates so don’t come starving, but the food is really good and fresh. The chef came out and greeted us. Friendly staff.
It is a small place and does fill up quickly so if meeting a group make reservations ahead. I will definitely come back!

First visit last night… very enjoyable experience. Appetizers were yummy. Great cheese selection. Staff was very knowledgeable and made sure we were well taken care of… thanks Tomas. I will definitely be back.

I have been here many times before and for some reason, have never written a review. I came tonight with two friends and we each ordered a flight – champagne and two wine flights. We also ordered the ahi poke and a charcuterie board and it was amazing. The wine selection they carry is great and the service was wonderful. The Chef, Mike, even came out and introduced himself and explained the food, (giving us some information). Great experience tonight and always.

I only gave it one star because I had to choose a rating by default…
I went to the Cellar on Wednesday with three friends. I was very excited to drink wine with great friends. The excitement lasted about 2 minutes. Walking in was great– atmosphere was great, smiling patrons all around. There was a 4 top open with the last customers dishes and check on it. Perfect I thought, there are 4 of us! So we stood by the table waiting patiently for it to be bused. There we stood… Waiting and waiting. I finally went up to the bar to ask if someone could please clear the table so we could sit down. There I stood again… Waiting and waiting. The bar tender did not even acknowledge me to let me know he would be with me. There was one other person working there who kept going into the back and doing dishes. Then he would come out and check on a couple tables and then go back in. He did not acknowledge me standing there either… Even though I was standing where he had to keep walking right past me. I finally asked him to please clear the table so we could sit down. He did not say a word but went and cleared the table, which was the only open table by the way.
So excited we were finally seated! And then nothing happened again… No menus, no service, no drinks. Literally no acknowledgement. So we opened our gifts while we waited. Still nothing so one of my friends went up to the bar tender and asked if we could see a menu. His response was– I only have one so bring it back.
At this point we had spent 25 minutes and did not even have water. We got up and walked out. It was a horrible experience and the owners should be ashamed by the lack of customer service skills their employees have. I will never return and will discouraged everyone I know from either. On a side note I adore wine and spend a lot of money of wine… Just won’t be spending my money at the Cellar. We ended up at Back Wine Bistro and had had an amazing experience!

I really enjoy the Cellar Wine Bar. Its a nice environment & perfect for hanging out with friends, meeting clients, or going on a first date. Their food is great & their meat and cheese platters are so delicious. They have a great selection of wine, beer, and champagne as well.

My company had our holiday party here last night and it was absolutely perfect! Katie was amazing– she helped me plan the event from the beginning and went above and beyond to make last minute accommodations at the end. The location is beautiful, the staff attentive and helpful, and the food and wine were enjoyed by all. One of the best charcuterie plates I have ever had. I am so glad we had our event at The Cellar and look forward to going back.

The Cellar used to be one of my favorite places to go in downtown Folsom, until we went with a group of friends last Saturday to celebrate a birthday. The moment we walked in we were treated like an inconvenience. There were 6 people in our group and we were going to order flights of wine but were told that we could but it would take a long time because the waitress would need to wash dishes. The birthday girl didn’t want to be a burden so we ordered bottles of wine instead. Needless to say, that was the highest point of our experience. After that, service took extremely long and we received eye rolls when we asked for anything. Rude comments were thrown our way and witnessed by other patrons. I have always loved this wine bar but due to our treatment on our friend’s birthday, I will not be a customer as this establishment again.

Great service ! The chef and waiters were great! Very knowledgeable and friendly! Food is great! The wines are the cherry on the top !! Came here with a group of friends for my bday on Friday the 13^th (NOV 13^th) and made reservations ahead of time for 5:30, but didn’t arrive there till 6:30pm. I called in to let them know my group and I were running a little late and they didn’t mind at all! As soon as we arrived we had a table set up for 7 with a RSVP tag waiting for us to be seated! I def recommend to make reservations because it is a small place and can fill up very quickly! Will def be going back! Awesome spot !

Excellent! We enjoyed a fabulous evening — the chef and the bartender were both very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful! Will be returning again! Yum, yum! Their meat and cheese platters are divine!

Good food. Enjoyed the red flight, a chartecurie plate and the meat flatbread. All were very good. Nice place in historic Folsom

So overall, a good experience. My main issue is how long it took to get our food. Just a spinach and beet salad and a meat/​cheese plate. No cooking required but it took over 30 minutes from time of order. Otherwise, service was good and food/​wine were enjoyable although it was clear they were under-​staffed, particularly for a holiday weekend. I’m curious why the owners continue to ignore the themes which are coming up in these Unilocal reviews.

Great Place! We went in for a glass of wine and ended up having a cheese charcuterie plate. It was excellent a great selection of meats and cheeses presented with nice accompaniments! We wish we would have stayed for dinner the food being delivered to tables around us looked wonderful! Love this place! Intimate, cozy atmosphere and a very friendly staff. The tables are adorable with corks underneath glass. The wine is good and best of all the charcuterie plate – large platter with your choice of meats and cheeses for only $ 19. Definitely a great spot to check out on Sutter Street for a girl’s night out!

The Cellar is a great spot with great snacks and even better wine and beer, the staff here is awesome (hi Jennifer!!!) and very welcoming. Definitely order the Bruschetta or Cheese and Meats plate, simply awesome selection. Definitely a regular spot to hang out…

They no longer carry Aria champagne. This was the main reason I came here. I came here with my gf on my birthday and the male server insisted on having a smart remark for anything I had to say which pertained to anything I ordered. He didn’t even let me finish my first question before he answered it. Which I found very rude. When I called him on it he seemed to think serving us was some type of a game. He continued to behave as the kid in preschool who threw sand on you in the playground to show you he liked you throughout our entire evening. This game of let me flirt with the femme lesbian because I like a challenge upset my gf which in turn upset me. Like «Look dude! Just serve us and shut up!»
My gf ordered a flatbread which I thought had a lack of toppings. I ordered the pasta which was awful. Luke warm angel hair that was dry and flavorless. Topped with a few cherry tomatoes. How do you fuck up pasta? Really? And this woman in the kitchen calls herself a chef?
This place has been under different ownership so many times. Wish Jeff was still running it. The smart ass server said it was now owned by a couple who owned a winery. Could care less. But clearly having their business ran by courteous, decent, competent staff isn’t on the top of their to-​do list. I won’t be returning nor will I recommend this place to anyone anymore.

Thus far this is my favorite place in Folsom.
I don’t come here for the wine, although their wine has been fine. That’s a rhyme. I come here for two things:
— Craft beer selection.
— Amazing food.
The former was how I found the place. They regularly have some upper tier beers in stock, including beers that are not IPAs. I love beers that are not IPAs! More places should have beers that are not IPAs, but alas, very few of them do.
But I stayed for the food, because the selection here has been pretty fantastic. The Mac and Cheese they had was delicious. The pizza they had was delicious. The something else that I can’t remember but know I ordered three things they had was delicious. I think it was bruchetta. But whatever. 3 for 3, that’s all I can ask for.
It’s a great seating environment as well, and not too busy, though occasionally it turns into a zoo, what with all of the cougars everywhere. I also know they changed owners recently, which is why I’ve written most of it in the past tense. I haven’t had a chance to go back since the new ownership took over and can’t verify that all of these great things are still there.
Nevertheless, I have been… whatever comes after thrice since I moved here, and plan to go back even more often once things slow down. So far, this is a great place, and not nearly as unaffordable as most wine bars.

This is a great little bar to share an intimate wine and snack plate anytime evening or night. I think the best aspect of this bar is the wine flights: bubbles, white, several choices of red. The pours are satisfying and the variety is atypical for the area. The staff was so pleasant and fun to talk to. They could really handle the surge of patrons and managed to maintain a calm, relaxed atmosphere in such a small restaurant space. I was very pleased with the tuna tar tar cups (the pineapples were a fresh and fun twist). The pear and prosciutto and arugula pizza was a generous portion and tasty. They’ve got a fairly deep choice of meat and cheese plates – you pick the sides and how many. I was with a picky eater so we didn’t indulge.
Hit up Happy Hour between 4 – 6 p.m. I’ll see you there!

This is by far my favorite place to go for wine in the entire Sacramento area. The staff is always incredibly friendly and knowledgable. I always find a new wine to love when I come in.
The food is great too. Not a huge menu, but what they do have they do very very well. Everything I have had is delicious.
Nothing bad to say at all… if you like wine, check this place out!!!
