This is a great little marina on the the back side of Folly Beach, on the river side and it aptly named«Sunset Cay» because of the awesome sunset views that are unobstructed by any developments. It’s a good for both locals to have an inexpensive place to keep a boat and great for transient boaters looking to come for the weekend or longer and soak up the beach(a 5 minute walk from the parking lot) or the funky Folly Beach nightlife. The raw nature that surrounds you here on the west side of the island is hard to beat. Dolphins splashing around, all kinds of birds and good crabbing and fishing abound. Kayaking, paddle boarding and just cruising around the Folly River back country be disappoints. So that’s the location, which is the main thing that makes this marina awesome, as for the facilities themselves it’s good but just good, not incredible but hey, good is good after all. The Good: Really solid Dockmasters, there 7 days a week, Epay wood docks, well lit, good parking lot and super friendly people and very inexpensive compared to other local marinas The Bad: The current runs STRONG and the weather can rock your boat so you have to be careful and it’s not for everyone The UGLY: The inlet from the ocean into the Folly River is very treacherous and many a weekend sailor has lost his boat to I and the marina does not have any showers, ugh
