History

Established in 1981.

Classic Carpet & Flooring was started by Karen Rose out of her home in 1981. Previously, she had worked for a chain store (the now defunct Carpeteria), and she did not like the way they handled their business. Karen started the store at a time when there were not many women in the flooring industry (and even less women business owners). With an eye for fashion she started showing carpets to clients in their homes, and the company grew steadily ~ mostly through referrals and repeat customers.

The store is now well known in the St. Louis area and has been in business for over 33 years. The company still offers free shop at home service,

Classic Carpet & Flooring has won many awards, including Angie’s List Super Service award 7 years in a row. Karen Rose also founded the St. Louis Chapter of the World Floorcovering Association and was named one of the Top Women Business Owners, by Small Business Monthly, 10 years in a row.
