My Dad’s is back in the family

My Dad’s Pizzaria is once again under family ownership — the family that begin it all: The family of Garner Gayheart.

In August of 1989 My Dad’s Pizza opened for the very first time. It was family operated until 2006 when the business was sold. After a couple of owners and a period of downtime the Mark Pratt family including Vickie Pratt, Mark’s wife, and family members Tara Carte-Short, Kella Simpson, and Miranda Devaney. In all there is a total of seven operating the business.

Mark said the reason the pizza establishment was opened in the first place was because there was a desire by Gayheart for a pizza meeting the demand of the family’s taste buds.

Originally operating as Long’s Pizza the business moved to its Bellefonte Road location in 1991. From Long’s the name changed to My Dad’s Pizzaria as chosen by family members. «We weren’t allowed to bring the name to the new location so after some bantering it was decided to call it My Dad’s Pizzaria,»
