Donna’s Alterations

These women might just be my fairy godmother. Who else can take shapeless dresses and turn them in to beautiful gowns? Tucked away, off of 116^th street, in the track houses across from Handels Ice Cream, it would be easy to overlook them, but don’t make that mistake. The place is small with a few changing rooms and their workplace, but what they lack in size, they make up for in dependable services and good prices.
I have been using these ladies for the past ten years and have always been happy with their work. Their most recent undertaking for me was a lace bridesmaid’s dress that was 4 sizes too big and reworking the entire gown to fit me. I can’t imagine how many hours this took, but the dress turned out beautiful and fit perfectly.

I had to order my dress for my friends wedding from the internet. And, as expected, things didn’t go well. When I received my non refundable dress it was TWO sizes too big. Ugh. What a nightmare. So being new to the area I had NO clue who was «good». I took a shot in the dark and came to Donnas. Upon arrival I’ll admit I was a bit skeptical and the fact that it took all of 3 minutes for my dress to be pinned I was more than concerned for the final product. After picking up my dress today I am SO relieved and beyond pleased with my choice to come here. My dress fits PERFECTLY. The women working here do phenomenal work and I will be returning for all of my alteration needs!

I was worried when I received my dream wedding dress and it was two sizes too big. I was not familiar with any alteration businesses in the area, so I asked around and was sent to Donna, and I am so glad I was.
I cannot be happier with the way my wedding dress turned out. They took my dress from being grossly oversized and made it fit me like it was made for me. It was two pieces and silk chiffon, so it was a hard material to work with, but you would have never guessed with how beautiful and professional it looked. It also needed to be lined and the appearance and feel of the lining was so great, it looked as though it was original to the dress.
Not only is the quality of their work amazing, they are very professional, punctual, and friendly. Plus, for all the work they did, I could believe how affordable the cost was.
