History

Established in 2011.

The City of Ferguson, in partnership with Trailnet, began a program called Live Well Ferguson in 2008. That program kick-​started a growing healthy and active movement within Ferguson. The owner, Gerry, was very active within Live Well Ferguson, and saw the need for a bike shop in town in order to encourage bicycling as a way to improve health and fitness. Upon retirement from Emerson in 2011, Gerry opened the Ferguson Bicycle Shop to serve the community!

Gerry moved his family to the St. Louis area in 1997 when taking a job transfer with Emerson. Not wanting to spend hours commuting to work every day, he settled in Ferguson, where Emerson is located. This close proximity allowed him to ride his bike to work whenever he wanted. As his family grew roots in Ferguson, Gerry became more involved in Live Well Ferguson, which led to the opening of the shop in 2011 after he retired from Emerson.

Gerry is a certified Cycling Savvy instructor and runs a training session in Ferguson every April for those who want to learn how to ride their bicycles with skill and confidence on the roads in our area.

In addition to being an experienced bicycle commuter, Gerry is an experienced touring bicyclist. He has carried his tent and sleeping bag and camped out on many multi-​day bicycle trips.
