Food was attractive, flavorful and priced right. Clean premises with appropriate lighting. Service was inconsistent. Received the last half of my combo after I finished the first half, rather than having it all at the same time.

The owners are extremely nice people who we enjoy talking to on every visit.
The quality of the sashimi used to be so excellent, yet reasonably priced, that we’d drive from Bellevue to Federal Way just to enjoy it. Sadly the quality over the last 18 months has dropped from what it was from the 2009 — 2013+ time frame so we no longer make a special trip anymore. It’s still good, but not wow good.
We primarily stick to the raw fish dishes and udon, and think it’s ok. I’m not a big fan of the cooked dishes.
Good parking, friendly staff, great prices make it worth stopping if you are in the area. It’s also still one of the better sushi/​sashimi places in Federal Way so it’s worth visiting if that’s what you crave.

It was good food and delicious and good price. Bibimbap was super healthy and taste good. Moreover they serve various good side dishes also. I like this place.

I like this place. Good sushi and even better prices. I like the little sides they bring out to snack on while you are waiting and the miso soup as well. The building doesnt look that fancy compared to some other sushi joints, but the food here is good and I like the prices as well. Got a variety of 4 different types of sushi rolls and two drinks and walked out of there for around $ 30 which is really good for the quality of food.

I don’t know if I just wasn’t feeling sushi today or what but I just wasn’t that impressed. I had two rolls and they both did not taste right. When I walked in no one saw me or even cared to seat me. I had to walk around to the kitchen area and ask if they were open. It’s so hard when I have been to some pretty fantastic places and I feel like every sushi place should be at that level… I hate writing bad reviews…

Hands down my favorite sushi restaurant! Last night I drove from the Queen Anne area of Seattle all the way to Federal Way, Washington just to go to Alasaka. I’m never disappointed the fish was so fresh and also she was outstanding plus they give you little Korean dishes like kimchi fishcakes yum!
They have regular tables, Japanese style tables, and a great sushi bar. Don’t miss out if you’re in the area.

This is my go-​to for Japanese and Sushi in Federal Way! I love their food, the rolls and sushi are delicious.
They serve small appetizers before hand. It varies every time. I think the service is decent, not super fast or overly attentive but all the employees are very nice and I’ve never seen them busy so I believe everything is made to order and that’s why the food doesn’t come out super fast. Never too long I’d a wait though.
The other thing I love is the price, much better than some of the neighboring sushi joints, on top of that… they’re big rolls! I’ve never had an issue polishing off several sushi rolls, but even with a group, I almost never am able to finish it all. When I do, I practically need to be carted out of their.
Also, the overall appearance is slightly run-​down but very cute still. The bar looks nice, they have the booths with a hot plate in the middle and even private rooms with floor seating which I’ve never used but look fun for parties! If you’re even thinking about trying Akaska, just do. They have an extensive menu far beyond just sushi and rolls!

This is a place that’s been on my list of places to eat at for sometime. My sister and I just decided randomly that yesterday night, was the night. And oh are we coming back for sure. Seeing the menu online before we left, I was already excited and overwhlemed with all the choices to choose from. You got choices like the Philadelphia Sushi rolls to Bul Go Gi to sashimi and a load of teriyaki dishes. The menu is quite colorful and I feel that there will always be something for anyone to eat and be satisfied.
The servers was friendly and the service was speedy. We had the Sukiyaki and it was very good. I had a couple of Sushi rolls. Can’t ever go wrong with that. I’ll come back just to make a meal with sushi haha. This is also a restaurant that isn’t stengy with portions. Order the appetizers when you got 2 or more people wih you.
I totally have to try eating in the tatami room (^_​^) I’m coming back to try something different everytime haha.

Akasaka has some of the best sushi I have had in kent /​federal way. It’s very fresh and very tasty. The best part is it’s affordable. Simply good sushi.

Hands down best sushi in the area. Always fresh and very relaxed atmosphere. Good traditional sushi unlike many chains that add a bunch of sauces and toppings. The staff will let you hang out and socialize and I’ve had many work lunches here. My favorite by far.

Not too bad of a spot here! I’ve seen this place for years but never made it in until recently. We came here for a family dinner and my expectations weren’t that high going in but I am glad to say I was pleasantly surprised lol.
First off it’s real easy to find and there’s a lot of parking both in the front and in the back lot so that made it nice. When I walked in it was what I had pictured, typical old school Japanese themed restaurant with a little late 1980s feel to it. Well equipped with Tatami rooms, cocktails, local regular customers, and an abundance of Asian décor.
The menu has some good choices with a mix of both Japanese and Korean dishes along with some nice sushi options. What impressed me was the variety of food, this wasn’t just another teriyaki joint, they have some good traditional meals here which was cool to see.
Their drinks were strong and service was fast and friendly. So far my experiences have been really good, sushi has been fresh and my food has tasted consistently tasty for both the Japanese and Korean choices. Prices are pretty good here too, nothing crazy expensive like some other places in the area.

Akasaka is like the sure and steady restaurant that always delivers in Federal Way! The owners and staff are extremely friendly! Love this place! Best sushi, Japanese, and Korean food in town!:)

Best sushi in town. I have been a long term customer of Lee the owner. He remembers what you order…. is very creative. and has Toro.
You get side dishes of kimche and other appegizets. He has a full service bar and a
of Japanese and Korean food.
More expensive than the all you can eat places but we’ll worth the quality and not having a hassle when asking the other places to customize.

When you crave really good and fresh sushi this is the place to come. Everything on the menu is delicious!

We’ve driven by this place probably a hundred times but never gave it a second look. We were recently trying to find a new place to eat and I noticed the reviews and the Unilocal deal, so we figured we’d give it a try. I’m really glad we did because the food was amazing. We both had the bento with chicken teriyaki and the black cod. Everything from the starter salads (my 10mo old loved the sweeter one that I think was tofu, but not sure), to the miso soup, to the sushi and sashimi, we were quite happy. The portions were extremely generous and everything was good quality. I really want to try more of their sushi and sashimi the next time we go.
The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because of the service. They weren’t busy, yet someone only came by once to refill our water outside of delivering the food. If service improved, this would definitely be a 5 star stop for us.

The food is decent I guess. It was more about the quantity with their Bento and kid’s meals, but the way the menu is sorted, it forces you to order in combos that you may not be interested in.
The one star is for the fact that they charged a 30% tip amount on my check when I wrote down 15%. Not cool!!! If you ever use your credit card here, check your statements!

Really — I’d like to give them a 3 ½ stars — knocked them down mostly for their service.
The only complaint with service is getting the food can be slow. Otherwise, for those that say their check comes too slow or waiter doesn’t come by often, I just discovered they have a service button on the booths to call them!
All the food I’ve had has been great except for one type of roll (didn’t like the topping on it). Can’t seem to remember the name of it, sorry!
My top two favorite types of food is sushi and korean food which is why I like this place and would keep coming back here! Been here twice and I’ve had their bibimbap, seafood pancake, and a large selection of their sushi rolls and sashimi!

The yakisoba was flavorful, but I would’ve preferred more spicy so I asked for Sriracha sauce on the side :) Portions are plentiful, so come hungry. Really good value if you purchase the groupon. The lunch prices are a lot more affordable which cuts off at 2:30pm.

The spicy Korean soft tofu soup and the seafood pancake ! Although it took a little longer then expected, the soup was worth the wait .

I came back today and the service was amazing, of course had the spicy seafood tofu soup and tried the sushi and you have to try the butter yaki. Delicious !

I’ll just give the rating from 1 to 5. 5 is the best.
Service: 4.5 (Although the waitress was bit too enthusiastic, kind of annoying. I wasn’t very annoyed, I understand that she was trying to be friendly, but my boyfriend and his friend thought she was kind of rude to be interrupting us few times in our conversations. Just because we’re Korean like her. She seems like a cool person though. I like how she looked like she had a lot of energy around her, so I was comfortable. Sometimes it’s best not to be too friendly because it will just freak people out. I didn’t hate the waitress though.)
Interior: ⁵⁄₅ (Lovely and beautiful. They had oriental picture frames, indoor waterfall garden, cozy place to dine. It felt like homely, but in oriental way.)
Food: 3.5÷5 (I guess you can say the food wasn’t all that great. It was still okay to eat. It wasn’t that horrible. Or it wasn’t like amazing. I ordered California rolls and it kind of had a bland taste. It was alright though. I really liked their miso soup though and their tea was okay. My boyfriend’s friend didn’t like his tonkatsu aka port cutlet that much though. I ordered the chicken yakisoba and I liked it, but my boyfriend didn’t like his beef yakisoba. He said that he noticed too much oil in his food and said it was unappetizing. They serve both Korean and Japanese food, so that’s a plus!)
Exterior: ³⁄₅ (It looked like a small restaurant, but I loved the creativity of the windows.)
Music: ¹⁄₅ (I was shocked… why on earth would you turn on pop music at a very good oriental interior designed restaurant? I was very disappointed. I mean I don’t mind listening to American pop music, but at a Japanese/​Korean themed restaurant? I was hoping oriental, peaceful music. Not Katy Perry… or rap music, wtf?)
Tip: When you enter the restaurant, you have to look for the server. She was kind of not there. It wasn’t even busy either. I think they should hire another person to look out the door and greet customers.
