Mash House

I was certainly impressed with the quality of food and the beer. Their IPA is 5.2% ABV which I love! I usually look for a session IPA when I travel but they don’t have as much flavor. This IPA was not a session.
I sat at the bar bc of a prior patron’s review of not being harassed at the bar but it must have been my lucky day… But I did feel like the bartenders were looking out for me as they kept checking on me.
I ordered the ceasar salad (OK), NY strip med rare, mac n cheese (VERY good) and IPA. The strip came out rare (which is better than over cooked) so they just threw it back on the grill. Didn’t even need the steak sace. I did taste it though and it was really good. Tasted home made. The steak portions are quite large so I took half with me. Great for breakfast! Who am I kidding… I ate the rest in my hotel room while I watched HGTV. I’ll be back but next time I’ll get a table for one.

I wish I could rate the service separate. Our service was GREAT! Our waiter/​server, Marquis, was so sweet and funny and great! We loved him! 5 stars to our awesome server! My husband and I have been to over 30 micro breweries across the east coast, and the beer is okay. Nothing spectacular or memorable. The food was okay too. Everyone raves about the grilled meatloaf. It was mediocre. The texture was soft and gritty. My husband ordered the blue brew burger. It was delicious! I ate most of his burger. Threw away most of my meatloaf and ate his burger instead. The potato skins were yummy. Fried green tomatoes, okay. Overall, if it wasn’t for Marquis, the experience would be one we’d like to forget.

I recently got a chance to go back and try the chicken with the polenta wow it was amazing great service really good food I’m happy I went there again and gave it another chance Will definitely go back again

I moved here 7 years ago and this has always been one of my favorites! I suggest this to anyone that is looking for a local restaurant and loves good food. About 3 years ago the head chef changed and it was quite evident that the recipes changed slightly as well and not for the better. My favorite thing on the menu is spinach artichoke dip because of the pizza like bread that comes with it. If that were to ever change I’d be highly disappointed! The service is good but they won’t inform you of a military discount unless you ask. I like sitting outside or at the bar. The inside tables you can color on so that is good if you have a family.

This is my favorite friday night pit stop. I get the meatloaf, potatoes, and veggies. Wash it down with an nice blonde and I am a happy camper. I get so excited I almost always forget to check in. Best in Fayetteville.

I thought I was going in for some mediocre steak and a passable ‘craft’ beer to end a mediocre business trip, but what I found instead was one of The Most Wonderful Meals of my life.
I was bummed out from being away from home (again) and what the heck, a coupon came with my hotel key card, so I walked over thinking I’d get some mediocre dinner to check the box for the night.
Instead, I got a reminder about how much joy a meal can bring.
I was alone and the bar was full, so I was already feeling uncomfortable that I was That Woman alone at a table in the corner of the dining area. But enter my server, Marquis. He made me feel absolutely welcome. He had the beer list and descriptions down pat, and so I decided to try the mondo flight sampler of all the beers. He also highly recommended and well described the daily special, which sounded amazing, so let’s get that too. He was friendly, smiled, and I don’t know something about him made me feel less like the dumb tired schmuck by herself at a table and very much like a welcome guest.
So enter the beer.

Marquis named them all off (twice, because I think I was overwhelmed at the variety). And then I was in heaven. Normally inhate Hefewisesn, but this one wasn’t bad drinking at all. Less like cat pee, more like a beer! The Ambers and reds… these are my favorites anyway, and Mash House’s take was wonderful. Complex yet simple and familiar at the same time. a new take on an old favorite. Even the stout was amazing. Normally stout takes some girding of the lion’s for me to drink, beating you over the head with black heavy notes and that full-​carby-​just-​ate-​a-​loaf-​of-​bread feeling, but not this one. Dark, caramely, and not harsh drinking at all. The ciders were a wonderful, bright and bubbly finish to the flight, a different and sweet taste at the end.
Dinner arrived while i was working through the amber portion of the beer rainbow in front of me, and I was blown away at first bite.
The steak was top shelf, prepared to the letter. It melted in my mouth-​literally-​it was so tender. Not mushy and over processed, but tender! The peach salsa’s sweetness was a wonderful compliment to the savory meat and a joyful surprise when I first took a bite. The shrimp was perfectly grilled and not overdone in any way. The sides were flavorful as well and normally I hate asparagus, but I ate every bite it was so good. This was a meal made by someone who understand food, understands flavor, and prepared by a chef the knows How to Cook.
I still felt hungry after this (don’t judge!), so when Marquis came by to clear my plate and asking about dessert, all I had to do was ask «ya got any chocolate?» And he smiled, told me about the double chocolate cake, and I was sold (I mean he’s been on point about everything else! Why stop now?). He brought it right out and I about died. Beautiful presentation, and a mix of dark and Milk chocolate that was so sinful I honest to god giggled eating it.
So here’s where this unexpected love letter of a review takes a maudlin but honest turn.
As I sat there, fork in hand, somewhere between the last bite of steak and the second bite of dessert, a cider close at hand, I felt pure, unadulterated joy. Life has been really, really hard for me lately. And I swear to you, at that moment, nothing mattered. Life felt simple. I was here, I was eating good food and drinks skillfully prepared, Marquis was laughing at my awful jokes, and I felt so happy. Sweet, and savory, and just, the simple happiness you can feel when you have a good meal from start to finish.
There are a few amazing meals I remember: A family steak dinner to celebrate college graduation. Pizza out of the back of my car with my first love (and the cop showed up to chase us off the scenic overlook). Drinks and unpronounceable food with Army buddies in Korea.
I think I’ll remember this one too.

Ordered the special of the day which was the sirloin and battered shrimp topped with a mango butter chutney, it was really good, the steak was a little under seasoned but the mango butter chutney made up for it. Since I’m not a beer drinker I was really happy with their selection of whiskey. The service was great and the atmosphere was great, the bar was set up really nice with a view of the beer distillers. Will definitely return to the mash house before I leave next week.

One of my favorite places in town. Great place to meet friends for a drink or an in house brewed beer or take the family. Food’s always awesome.

As always and for the umteenth time, I am sated with an awesomely delicious meal at the Mash House. Thank you guys for the quality, hospitality and delightful atmosphere.

I came with a group. We provided menus 4 – 6 hours earlier. Our food was late. Refills were slow to come. They placed us with another large group in a room that was too small and it became very loud. The staff was willing but clearly overwhelmed. The food was good. Tonight it was clearly not good for groups. It was a Tuesday.

This was my first time here and I ordered shrimp and grits to go.
The food was very good, different then the last shrimp and grits I us in Wilmington but still decent. This had a little bit of kick to it with the peppers and onions in it. The grits were creamy like they should be, actual sliceable pieces of bacon it unlike other places with bacon bits in it. I would definitely get it again.
Why the 3 stars? Well the customer service was certainly lacking. There was two young ladies at the hostess stand chatting away and to busy to notice I walked in. I went to the bar and the bartender wasn’t overly friendly and thankful I wasn’t dining in. So I would have given 4 stars if the staff was more welcoming but I took a star away since it wasn’t perfect.
I would done here again if I stay in the hotel down the road.

Rude hostesses. Food is really good. I especially loved the burger and the potato skins filled with pulled bbq pork. Beer is good too with nightly specials.

I was recommended to go here and was a little disappointed. The drink was a little fruity and alcohol content was so so. The pizza wasn’t that good either and I wished I had a burger instead. I will most likely try the place again in a week or so.
The service was exceptional though.

Wonderful discovery! Hubby loved his flight of beer and I was pleased with my pear martini. Chicken nachos were yummy and very filling. Hubby ordered fish tacos — spicy and very fresh! He said they were good, but would have preferred them on corn vs. flour tortillas. I opted for dessert after the nachos. I chose red velvet cheesecake, which was okay. But next time I’ll try the crème brûlée or regular cheesecake instead. The restaurant is casual, yet elegant. The patio was very nice. Noise level was good. The night we visited it was a cool spring evening. The patio screens were open and the temp was perfect. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and was very attentive. Friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices. We look forward to coming back and exploring more things on the menu soon!

We were passing through town on our way to South Carolina for spring break. We spent a night in Fayetteville, and were looking for a good restaurant for dinner for our family of 5 (3 kids). (We avoid chain restaurants at all costs.) We also wanted someplace where we could watch basketball games, as it is March madness.
Mash House was recommended to us by a friend of ours who used to be stationed at Fort Bragg. It did not disappoint. The food was delicious (burgers, fish tacos, ahi tuna salad, mac & cheese…), and the service was excellent. We enjoyed samplers of all the beers on tap, and decided that the IPA was our favorite. We even had dessert: a very decadent butterscotch Blondie served warm with a scoop of coffee ice cream. We highly recommend dinner here!

The scribbling on the table like five year olds really should go. It’s incredibly tacky to use paper tablecloths on a table. Just take the time to actually clean them instead of packing up a table with cheap paper to save time, or hire some bus boys. The food here is really hit or miss. I wouldn’t recommend getting a steak here, I’ve ordered it twice and both times it came incredibly bland, and I had to request that it be recooked or seasoned properly. Their non-​rotational beers are pretty disappointing, as there’s only a few to choose from and they mostly cater to the hoppier beer fans. Even their brews that should be low in hops (IE: Belgian tripels, etc) are abrasive to the taste buds.
Their burgers are normally cooked to a perfect temp, but are always underseasoned (Like everything else that is served here). The only go-​to meal I can think of is the fish and chips. They’re crispy and they’re actually made with Cod. Most restaurants in this area try to get away with lesser fish for the recipe-​like Tilapia. They should hold themselves to the higher standard given the amount spent on the décor and the menu prices. Like most restaurants in Fayetteville the management must not be holding its workers to a high enough standard. Seasoning, seasoning, seasoning, Beat it into the cooks.

Stopped in while in Fayetteville on business. While a one-​and-​done experience may not be conclusive, my experience was not the best.
I was a little confused on what the restaurant wants to be. Seems aim for a higher end main restaurant with the accompanying bar which seemed cool, a true brew pub. I sat in the main dining room and was confused when the waitress started scribbling on the table — paper — cloth with a pink crayon.
Had the beer steamed mussels, I give them 4 stars.
«Fish Tacos» I chose to not have them blackened, when I try a new place, I don’t like seafood to be blackened, too easy to mask freshness with spice. So, my unblackened tacos were served atop wilted lettuce with jar-​like salsa that tasted very processed. The cod was iffy. 1^st taco was decent, second one was put down after one bite, third taco same result but this one I put back into my napkin. Not good, sadly as I was very hungry. Give this main 0 stars.
Wait staff; SUPER friendly and attentive engaging. Give them a 4 and would come back only because a staff that nice couldn’t be so smiley if the food always stunk.

The Mash House is a local brewery and restaurant. I have been here quite a few times because of the beer and the bar atmosphere. Their food on the other hand I have never particularly remembered for its quality. I have, however, remembered it for how terrible it was. Their jambalaya is tomato paste with rice and cheese butter slathered grits. The meat in it was disgusting as well. Bad flavor and tasted like it had freezer burn. Their appetizers are inconsistent in portions but better then any of the main courses I have tried.
Moving on, the wait staff was polite and accommodating but the bar staff could learn to not get distracted by guests and neglect other customers.
Lastly, the atmosphere is more of a high end restaurant at times then a brewery. The bar area is more relaxed. I wouldn’t bring a child here ever. I would bring a first date or bring my best friends to grab drinks.
Remember it’s a brewery first. Their beers are pretty good and priced accordingly since it’s a local beer. Go there and get their beer sampler if for nothing else.

There was a thunderstorm the night we went to restaurant, so I wasn’t surprised when the restaurant with a 4 stars review wasn’t even half full.
Server was nice enough to let us sample three different beer, and we both like strawberry blonde.
Bf ordered grilled meatloaf with mashed potato, and I ordered the Jambalaya. I am usually not a fan of meatloaf, but the grill gave it a crispy edge, and the mushroom gravy had such an earthy taste, that went so well with the meatloaf itself. My Jambalaya comes with shrimp, ham, sausage, chicken and pork, with a ball of cheese grits. The sauce is hot enough to make the dish exciting, but also friendly enough to those of us who don’t crave spicy flavors. This is the first time I have grits and it tastes pretty good, I have no experience to compare to, but all the grits I have later would need to meet this standard.
Server was very nice and very attentive, which made driving through a thunderstorm worth it.

The Mash House is a Feyetteville must! Great service, great beer, and excellent food. I had the IPA and the fish tacos. The tacos were slightly spicy and complimented with guacamole and chipotle aioli on a flour tortilla. They were delicious, leaving me wishing I had another taco to eat. The ambiance feels a bit like an Irish pub but in a good way. The service was great and the beer is home brewed. Highly recommended.
