Windy Point Inn Lakefront Bed and Breakfast is the only lakefront B&B on Big Bear Lake. Enjoy a relaxing and romantic get-​away on the «quiet side of the lake». Get away from it all, but you are still only a few minutes away the Village, hiking trails, skiing and boat rentals, and more.

All rooms have wonderful lake views, a wood-​burning fireplace; full bath, mini-​refrigerator, and DVD player. The suites have an in-​room whirlpool tub.

Each couple gets an individual breakfast time. We bring breakfast to your room if you are in the «COVES» or «SHORES» rooms.

History

Established in 1990.

Windy Point Inn Lakefront B&B was built specifically as a Bed and Breakfast. We are a contemporary Inn, with each room designed to take advantage of the wonderful views of the lake and surrounding forest areas.

Our décor is eclectic, lending to a relaxing and comfortable feel.

Each room is designed with a full private bath, wood-​burning fireplace, DVD player, mini-​refrigerator, and a private deck overlooking the lake.

Manager

We vacationed in Big Bear often while living in North County, San Diego. We loved Big Bear so much we were married here.

Once we decided to operate Windy Point Inn we moved to Big Bear with our two sons.

We have enjoyed living in Big Bear and our boys learned so much from talking and interacting with our wonderful guests. They are adults now and recognize the benefits of meeting so many interesting people from so many different places.

Kent was a cook while going to college, so that experience has helped when it comes to making our great breakfasts. And his experience as a contractor has been even more beneficial!

So Awesome! I kidnapped my always working, construction business husband for his birthday. I booked the less expensive room for 1 night, which we agreed was wonderful. Kent let us peek at the more expensive room, which turned out was available as it was midweek. Words cant explain how beautiful the views of the lake and sunset. waking up early to see the morning views I saw a bald eagle fly right above the balcony 3 times… my husband was getting much needed rest on the comfy king bed. We ended up staying 3 days! Kent you are a gourmet chef! Want to go back so bad!!!

The view is awesome!
We stayed in the Cove room, and the floor to ceiling window is fantastic to enjoy the serene scenery while you are relaxing in your room. There is also a Jacuzzi tub next to the bed that we enjoyed as well.
The room is constructed perfectly with a little sitting area, little bar area for the refrigerator and sink, fireplace, Jacuzzi tub, bed, good size closet, and two sink bathroom. I especially enjoyed the lighting that was above each side of the bed since I like to read when I’m away on a getaway like this.
Breakfast in the morning was perfect portion; One day we had the frittata and next day French toast (frittata was delicious).
Unfortunately, the coffeemaker had a used coffee filter that wasn’t cleaned out and the pot was dirty. That wasn’t nice, but also the coffee they had was not very good, and it would’ve been lovely if we could have had a nice cup of coffee with our breakfast.
Also as great as it is to have surround sound music and lots of dvds at your disposal, we did miss having a TV. Some people might prefer not having any TV, but we kind of missed having at least some TV reception as well as Wi-​Fi. I hope I’m not becoming one of those city people, but sadly I think I am… thank goodness for 4G!

After searching and only finding mostly dirty and overpriced cabin rentals, I am so glad I found this small gem, the Windy Point Inn!
When I called, Kent told me all about all the inn and the different rooms he had, and I booked ‘The Peaks’ right away. The room was very clean & contemporary, with a spectacular view of the lake. Cookies were waiting for us when we arrived, and there is also an amazing jacuzzi tub with jets in the sunken in bathroom. We will definitely be retuning again!
P. S. You must get the Spanish frittata & the guava juice from Hawaii :)

First overnight trip to Big Bear Lake in ages.
Kent was warm and welcoming, great first impression upon arrival.
Although we arrived at night, the morning view and the sounds of water we woke up to of Big Bear Lake, very beautiful! (We stayed in Shores Room.)
The food served in the morning was delicious, French toast with orange mango, yummy!
We look forward to a return trip in the future.

My boyfriend and I have gone up there twice in the past 4 years and have loved it both times. Our second time up, they even remembered what our breakfasts were from the first trip and made a point to serve something different. Both times we stayed in the Peaks room. The views make me feel like I’m on the boat.
Some people may not like that it is on the other side of the lake, but we like being away from the crowds. I can’t say enough of how much we have enjoyed our stays there. We’ve enjoyed them so much, in fact, that we are staying there again tomorrow!

My husband and I spent this past weekend here in the Shores room. Let me tell you… I have never stayed anywhere as beautiful, relaxing and romantic as Windy Point Inn (WPI)! The room is a split-​level room with a nice, comfy king size bed, a whirlpool tub, fireplace and fridge/​sink, etc. The view from the room is absolutely breathtaking and can not be beat! WPI is a bed & breakfast, so they deliver breakfast to your room; we were fortunate enough to have the Spanish frittata (with potatoes and guava juice), which was devine! The owner Kent is nice, helpful and friendly… he helped us with our luggage and showed us around our room (which incidentally had fresh baked chocolate chip cookies waiting for us), and he was the chef that cooked our wonderful breakfast.
I HIGHLY recommend Windy Point Inn to any couple that wants to get away for a very private, quiet, romantic weekend. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I totally loved this place! It’s so romantic with beautiful lake view right outside your balcony, the panoramic ceiling to floor windows, the wood burning fire place, jacuzzi tub and built in sound system so you can play your CDs. The room was so nice and up to date. It was so quiet and serene, perfect for relaxing. Oh, there’s a reason it’s call Windy Point, so bring a jacket. There are great restaurants within 5 miles. I didn’t see much of Val, but Kent was very friendly. It was so nice to have breakfast delivered to our room. They also tidied up our room and gave us fresh towels while we were out during the day. If you want to watch a movie they have a large selection of DVDs or you can go to Red Box at the local Vons. I just can’t say enough about this place. I will recommend this to all my friends that need a romantic getaway. Hope we can return next year for our anniversary! Oh, we stayed in The Shores room.

Our time at Windy Point was amazing. My husband and I both grew up in South OC and spent very little time in the snow; we became like excited children as we experienced the winter wonderland of this beautiful mountain. We were greeted by Kent when we first arrived and given a thorough explanation of the surrounding towns, what do to, where to eat, what roads to take, etc. He then helped us with our luggage and showed us our beautiful room. This guy designed and built the wings with the two suites and it was simply perfect. Every detail, from the lights to the music surround sound was very thought out and customized for a romantic, relaxing get away.
A few highlights so I don’t end up writing a novel:
–the classic, wood burning fireplace that Kent reset perfectly for us every day while we were out exploring.
–the spacious jacuzzi tub facing the TV (Polar Express + Bubble Bath = Perfection)
–the amazing view of the beautiful lake. The way the suites are positioned, you can leave the curtains open and still have privacy. That means opening your eyes to the gorgeous first thing in the morning.
–the scrumptious breakfasts. Seriously, probably the best breakfasts we’ve ever had.
And they brought it right to our room to enjoy. We felt so pampered! We had the privilege of spending a long weekend there, so we got to indulge in 3 wonderful breakfasts. My favorite was probably the spanish frittata, but it’s super hard to decide!
Perfect for a relaxing weekend (or longer!) away for any couple who needs a break! You will be overwhelmed by Kent and Val’s hospitality and, of course, the beauty of the mountains.

My only complaint would be that they served the same juice two days in a row for breakfast and I had no idea they offered 2 for 1 specials from time to time! LOL This place in beyond romantic, very private and in my opinion there is no other place to stay in Big Bear for a couple! The 2 days we had spent at The Windy Point Inn were perfect! It was our first trip out of Las Vegas as a married couple and we will never forget the hospitality and quality that was provided. Hopefully we can make Big Bear an annual event! :) Thanks Kent and Val, you’ve got this all figured out!

My boyfriend and I traveled to Big Bear Lake to celebrate his birthday, and loved our stay at Windy Point Inn B&B. They were offering a special: stay one night and get the second night free. Val happened to be out town, but Kent was incredibly sweet and hospitable.
The living room is gorgeous, with a beautiful view of the lake. We ate breakfast on the outdoor veranda both mornings as Kent provided dining service. Both of us our vegan, probably outside the norm for most of their guests, but he was very accommodating to our dietary needs.
I opted for the least expensive room, which was still incredibly beautiful with a small patio, big enough for two swivel deck chairs, and it even had its own wood burning fireplace. We watched the sunrise from our bed.
After booking, I realized most of the «action» in big bear happens on the other side of the lake, but it turned out to be for the best. The north side is much more relaxing and peaceful– exactly what we were looking for– and only a 10 – 15 minute drive from the Village. (Or, if you bring along your bikes like we did, a serene hour long ride.)
We will definitely be staying here if/​when we return to Big Bear Lake.

My Fiancé and I got engaged here on 4÷23÷12 and it couldn’t be any more perfect! Everything was amazing… our room, the food, the view and most esp the service and hospitality from Kent and Val. I definitely recommend this place and if I could give more than 5 stars I would. We’ll definitely be back!

My fiancé and I spent New Years weekend here, snowboarding by day and cuddling next to the fireplace by night. It was truly such a beautiful and memorable experience, due to the amazing hospitality and thoughtfulness of Kent and his wife Val.
Fresh baked cookies, DELICIOUS breakfasts, surprise home baked pastries & cheeses for new years eve, on-​point recommendations, warm and inviting lobby, and breathtaking views. These are just some of the perks to this B&B. I woke up at 6am just to watch the sunrise, I think that’s a first in my entire life (I’m not a morning person). But seriously, when you’re here you just want to bask and take in every minute, because you know soon your life will return to the normal routine hum-​drum. There is nothing routine about this place, you will feel like you are a guest at your friend’s cottage, with personal touches everywhere.
Our room was actually the cheapest room in the property, its the only room w/​o a hot tub. But we didn’t mind, it was still a large nicely appointed room. We are upgrading next time we come back :) (I was wary to write a review because if this place gets too popular, I will not be able to come anytime I wish haha)
Kent is a very impressive person, he actually built the property himself! He also knows a lot about a lot, and helped us out in navigating big bear lake during a crowded holiday weekend. We are sooo very happy we decided to stay here rather than a cabin next to the slopes. You will truly feel like you’re «getting away».

It’s rare that I give a 5-​star review but the Windy Point Inn definitely deserves one. The amazing view right on the lake edge, the comfortable and immaculately clean rooms with floor-​to-​ceiling windows, the lake view jacuzzi tub, the marvelous breakfasts and the graciousness of innkeepers Kent and Val… all combine for an unparalleled getaway experience.

My husband and I spent two wonderful days at this gem of a B&B, located on the lake; you can hear the lake lapping against the shore. Magnificent view of the entire lake from the suite rooms, Shores (first level) and the Coves (second level) which have a small bar with coffee and tea maker, & small refrigerator, thoughtfully stocked with water & soda. The suites have king beds, a fireplace and a fabulous, two person jacuzzi tub. We were greeted by the innkeepers, Kent and Val, who are the friendliest, most helpful, and gracious of hosts. Kent not only cooks a fabulous breakfast & delivers it to your room, he even checked our brakes on our car as we were worried about them. We were greeted wtih freshly baked cookies and a full explanation of the services, the features of our room and recommendations for restaurants. The rooms were immaculately clean and well maintained. It’s hard to believe that we have been in the dark so long about this B&B. It’s located on the North Shore of Big Bear Lake; quiet, secluded, yet only 5 miles around the lake to the busier South Shore. Without a doubt, we will return, again and again.

I am surprised there were only 2 reviews for this wonderful place. I visited there recently. It was my first time going to Big Bear Lake. Everything was great, except the curvy mountain roads, which gave me nausea in the car. If you are not a morning person, you would have trouble sleeping in because of the brightness through the glass doors. Even so, it still can’t beat the beauty of the location, the decoration, the cleanness, and welcoming treatment from Kent and Val. I hope I can go back there again soon. It doesn’t look exactly the same as the pictures show. Indeed, its even better when you see it in person!

My husband and I have been here twice and this place will always always always have a special place in my heart. We actually got engaged on the balcony overlooking the lake our first time there.
We stayed in the smallest room and it still was very nice. The teddy bear and the book of notes from past guests gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling. This place really made my very first ski trip and what turned into our engagement weekend an amazing one. It just wouldn’t have been the same in some crappy in town hotel.
Kent was super helpful in leading us to the good places to eat in town and his breakfast was amazing! We unfortunately never saw Val both times we were there. We felt at home and loved sitting in the living room overlooking the lake, the lights, and the fireplace.
When we went in December it was decorated for the holidays and a nice fire going in the evenings.
The parking was easy and secure and didn’t have to hassle with in town traffic. It really pays to stay on the other side of the lake!!! You won’t regret it!

My girlfriend and I went up to Big Bear and instead of a cabin or motel, we decided to check out Windy Point Inn. This was the most amazing vacation spot we’ve ever been to! The view from our room overlooked the entire lake. Val and Kent, the owners, were incredibly hospitable and the mornings overlooking the lake were the best breakfast experiences we’ve ever had. The place is nestled perfectly on a private beach so we avoided the cluttered touristy spots too! Amazing food and incredibly cozy atmosphere, this is the perfect spot to get away from the world. We are going to make it a tradition.

My wife organized a surprise weekend getaway for my birthday and she chose Windy Point for our lodging. Neither of us had ever visited this little bed and breakfast, but it exceeded our expectations. The view from our balcony was spectacular. The room was well appointed with a huge jacuzzi tub. Don’t plan on vegging out in front of the TV here — they only have DVDs. And no phone or internet in the room either. The whole idea is to unplug from things a bit during your stay. Oh, and the breakfast (cooked by the owner) was outstanding!
