Longfellow Design Build

Mark (owner) and our project manager (Kevin) were outstanding to work with on our North Falmouth home. We decided last fall to re-​design the exterior style of our home and received quotes from three different companies. Our goal was to completely change the exterior style from a contemporary saltbox to a more traditional Cape Cod style. Ideally I wanted shingles and windows that opened up/​down vs the contemporary crank-​out windows our home had.
The other two companies we met with basically said that they could shingle the exterior and do all new windows but that the windows would still be the crank-​out/​more narrow style. They told me the window options were limited with my budget so we had to work within the existing window socket dimensions. Their quotes also came in $ 10−20k higher than my budget.
When I met with Mark, not only did I immediately get a sense that he did high quality work, but I felt I could trust him and valued his input on the project more than anyone else we met with. He took the time to really speak with me about my vision for the home, my budget, and then we came up with a plan to do the project the RIGHT way. We ultimately hired the Longfellow company to re-​do our home, and they worked to add shingles on the front and side of the house, but we left the back with the old siding. They also added new up/​down closure windows that were slightly wider than my old windows with a pane at the top (for a more traditional look). We discussed the key windows to change on the front/​side/​back of the house, focusing on ones that were at the end of their lifespan and also those that affected the style of the house — this ended up being all windows on the front, select windows on the side, and one in the back. And I loved Mark’s idea on only doing the front and side shingles for now. If we have the budget in a year or two, we can consider adding shingles to the back of our home, but to Mark’s point, you really don’t even notice the back siding on the house. This plan allowed us to stay within budget but we still were able to transform the exterior to truly be a traditional Cape Cod salt box style.
The team got the job done (the key tasks at least) before the Thanksgiving holiday as planned. There were a few follow ups that I worked with them on in the upcoming months, including a new garage door, light fixtures etc. All and all, the exterior looks EVEN BETTER than I had envisioned. Without Mark’s guidance on how to best spend the money to get the result I want, it wouldn’t have been possible.

I recently had Longfellow come to my home because I needed my bathroom redone. I was amazed at the design ideas that Mark had. His sense of design is just incredible! What I thought was just a ho-​hum bathroom is going to be a design statement when they’re finished. All without breaking the bank! Longfellow is wonderful. I had an awkward space that they redesigned into beautiful bathroom. Mark and his team were great. They were polite, professional, and easy to communicate with. Bill is a real asset to the Longfellow team. His patience along with his craftsmanship were most appreciated. We are so happy with the final outcome…

I needed to rip out and replace everything in my kitchen, not exactly a renovation. I ended up at Longfellow looking for cabinets, since Longfellow is the only retailer on the Cape which sells the brand I was initially looking for (Bremtown). Mark was great to work with. Mine was, I am sure, a small job for Longfellow, but I never felt like I was treated as though it was. These are calm, cool people, not pushy or arrogant. It really felt like a collaboration. Mark listens very well, clearly assesses his client, and responds to the person sitting in front of him and that person’s situation and circumstances, and then sets about meeting those needs. Longfellow has a very good selection of cabinet brands which run a reasonable spectrum, which I was impressed by. Rather than all high-​end, or factory-​line cheap stuff, Longfellow carries cabinetry all of which meets a high standard but which also covers a broad range of affordability, offering their customers some good options and choices, but also assurances that, whatever is chosen, it’s in the realm of good-​quality cabinetry.
Willians then arrived to install the cabinets, and what a gem Longfellow has in this very professional, talented, highly skilled, extremely intelligent, and very pleasant person. He cared throughly about every detail. Due to the age of the house, Willians was confronted with some challenging issues, but he stayed with them until he felt he’d gotten them right, which more often than not was a much higher standard of care than my own!
Mark and Williams were such delights to work with. Easygoing, knowledgeable, friendly and professional; they know their business well and have wonderful respect for their clients.
I absolutely would return to Longfellow in the future should such a need arise. Follow-​through with this company is 100%.

Longfellow recently designed and built a beautiful modest home for us in Falmouth. We believe our home could be featured in Architectual Digest. The kitchen layout flows nicely into the living room, chair rails accent the dining room, granite on all countertops, accented tiled shower/​tub, and the 9′ smooth ceilings… all work well combining function with aesthetics. The steel beam running through the basement gives us a solid base, and rooms with space. Mark B. and the rest of the staff are personable and very knowledgable in the latest energy conservation building products, design trends, and construction codes. Longfellow delivered the house complete and on schedule.

These guys are awesome. We hired Mark at Longfellow to remodel the kitchen and bathroom of our Newton, MA condo and could not have had a better experience. Our 100 year old house and small bathroom were a challenge — But these guys were patient, methodical, and actually finished ahead of schedule. I work from home, and actually sad to know Willians — The project Manager wouldn’t be at my door at 7am any longer because the project was done. Bottom line is these guys were everything you want a contractor to be and both our new kitchen and bathroom are even better than we envisioned. Can’t beat that.

Longfellow Design Build is a first class operation. Mark and his team did a fantastic job on my home. From start to finish 100% satisfied. I will recommend them for sure.

I recently had my kitchen and bathroom renovated by this company, and I can’t say enough GREAT things! They were timely, professional and the work is top notch. I would highly recommend this company to others. They also are opening a brand new showroom in downtown Falmouth, which makes choosing your new features even easier and more real.
