I was expecting this GameStop in particular to be one of the worst considering the previous encounters I have had here ended up in complete frustration and irritation as caused by some«moody» employees but that was a year ago so I was hoping that there would be some change to be found. Thankfully, there was, and to be frank, it was a major turn around. The two ladies who worked were the definition of what corporate may consider the ideal employee. While they were friendly and polite, they never pushed on you to pre-order any crap or to get warranties on the disc when you don’t really need them. In addition, they did not continually watch your movements around the store or question what you were doing if you were taking a long time to shop. I am praying that they are still working here next time I come back in about a month or two and I wish more GameStop’s around the area had employees like these, it would certainly make the shopping experience much more pleasant. Moving away from staff issues, I should discuss the store. You can find this store right next to the food court of all places and next to a large fountain where you can sit and toss your«unwanted» change into. This GameStop is a tad bit bigger then the other mall locations but fortunately, it’s selection matches it’s size. They have an excellent selection of PlayStation titles all across the back wall but sadly, some of the titles that I wanted were in those bland and boring generic cases with no artwork or manual which is a definite negative for me but for others who just want to play the game, this shouldn’t bother you a bit. The pricing is the exact same as you will find in every single GameStop in the Rochester area… or should I say, the entire nation. This means if you want a certain game but it’s a bit expensive, don’t expect it to be cheaper at a more remote location, it will be marked the same price. Anyways, I was bit disappointed that the Wii Games that I was looking for were in destroyed generic cases but I did manage to pick up a decent one for three dollars so I didn’t complain after that. I should mention that if you want a game that is considered«rare» or anything that has the word«Mario» or «Zelda’ in it, be prepared to overspend. GameStop’s including this one, overcharge the values by at least ten dollars or more then what they are worth, and these are pre-owned games, not new ones. I would strongly recommend either buying that title online or at another retail store where you can at least pay for what the game is worth, not overpay for what it’s not. For 3DS fans, this one like most, only has two vertical rows of games that are mostly super expensive and not worth the money. I was hoping the selection here would be larger but while It is larger then some of the other stores, it’s modest in actuality. On the other hand, Xbox people will enjoy that the whole left wall is dedicated to them with a large selection of Xbox One/360 titles that should be more than satisfactory to meet needs. I do want to comment on that this is the cleanest GameStop I have been to when it comes to building design and even the game cases themselves. The carpet looked freshly cleaned, the walls weren’t peeling and all of the displays were intact and flawless but on the other hand, this is largely in fact due to it’s mall location but at least it’s maintained. On the cases, these are some of the cleanest and shiniest cases I have ever seen which proved to be excellent later on when sticker removal was easy to do and left no residue. After the recent positive experience here, I am more than happy to make this a destination when I visit Eastview in the coming months again, hopefully to pick up some more clean titles to add to my collection. With the great employee interaction I got, I do hope others get to experience what I went through and I encourage other gamers to check this location out for a solid shopping experience.
