Stan’s Shuttle & Chaperone Service

We started our trip off excited, we were picked up on our way to the airport. We spent the next hour listening to the driver pin point every aspect of whats wrong with Stan’s Shuttle. Including a couple calls from his wife about another fare. By the time we got to the airport we were a nervous about what troubles will occur on our trip back. Needless to say, when we arrive we waited over an hour to be picked up. Traveling with a whole family including grandparents and a 13 month old baby, we called and called for help, but only an answering machine picked up. Turns out the driver was in the wrong pick up area. When we finally connected to her on the phone she told us to meet her where she was, we are a family of with baby and luggage she was one, so we asked her to meet us. When she arrived she proceeded to tell us we were at the wrong place and it was our mistake. Luckily, I had written down the area of pick on my phone when her husband picked us up the first time. When I showed her that she didn’t even apologize. Then she proceeded to open the back door and stand there. So eventually my husband had to put the everybody’s luggage in the van. Just because he is a man doesn’t mean its his job to put our luggage in the car. After we all settled in she realized we had 2 drops offs, she immediately said she couldn’t drop off one of us because she would miss her next fare. This whole process took 2 hours, we had confirmation for 2 drop offs both verbal and email. In the end we got another shuttle to take us home. 2 hours of her refusing to drive us home, with elderly people and a 13 month old baby in what now is coming close to be the middle of the night. The first stop was literally less than 5 minutes off the highway. How do you refuse a fare that you not only committed to but already charged and received payment for? Also, wouldn’t you try to make other arrangements as a human being when you noticed there was a baby involved? She just pretended to make calls to her boss. Since we rode with her husband on the way to the airport, we already knew she was one of the bosses. This whole drama goes on for a while, in the end we all would have been home and in bed by the time the other companies shuttle came to the airport. They were definitely an unreliable service, I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone. Please read the Unilocal reviews before giving your money to them. Seems like all the 1 and 2 stars had all the same issues; unreliable and disappointing service.

I used Stans to be picked up from my home and taken to the airport. My driver arrived on time, and was very professional and courteous. I scheduled my reservation online and it was very easy to do. They also give you a phone call and email reminder, which was very convenient. I will definitely use them again.

I am very very disappointed with the service I received from this company.
1. I called for three consecutive days attempting to reach someone to make a reservation. Though the recording said I would get a call back, it never happened.
2. I was supposed to be picked up at 430 the morning of the January 3^rd, but no one ever showed up. As a result, it cost me $ 700 to get a commercial flight when I was almost guaranteed to be manifested for my flight.
3. When I finally was able to reach somebody an hour after my scheduled pickup, the dispatcher simply said that the driver must have been late.

There is no mistake in what company I am reviewing. This is the same service, Stan’s Shuttle that works primarily from Travis Air Force Base. Stan is the father, Joseph is the son and there is a young woman who is his fiancé/​maybe wife now, that also drives. I stand by my review. It is accurate related to my experience with this company.

Stans Shuttle Service is awesome. I met Stan and his son, and they were spectacular. Picked me up at Travis AFB, and took me all the way to San Francisco at a very low cost! The conversation was splendid, and the ride was comfortable. Stan is a hard worker, and so is his son. He deserves all your business, and much more so than these fly-​by-​night operations like SuperShuttle.

Stan came to the rescue for my daughter and I while on emergency leave to visit my dying stepdad in Canada. We flew into Travis AFB from Honolulu, but there were NO RENTAL CARS available for at least 2 days in the area, and to get a rental at the airport you must be using that airport in & out. :/​Stan used his connections to get us a car, at a DISCOUNTED rate, that same day! He is a very caring, generous person. He didn’t even charge me for the HOURS he spent with us just to make sure we were taken care of. (of course I insisted he take $ 20 as he was our angel). Brett at Budget was awesome as well! Highly recommend his service and Travis AFB needs to put his phone # on their info sheet!

NEVER EVER EVER USE THIS SHUTTLE… This is the most unorganized and unreliable shuttle service. We had scheduled a shuttle ride for our family of 5 from St. Helena last Friday 12÷30÷12 to SFO. Though Stan or Joe or whoever we talked to multiple times was friendly enough, we should have been catious when they didn’t seem to know where St. Helena was located. Anyway, called the gentleman called me back with a price and pickup time of 5:15am. When they were 30 minutes late we tried to reach someone multiple times, no answer. Finally a girl answered and said she would call us back in 5 minutes. Never called back. We had to load everyone up in our car and drive to SFO… too bad our return flight lands in Oakland. What a pain in the a**. Don’t use a service that doesn’t have 24 hour customer service number is my advice.

Update: After two weeks and a lot of left messages, I finally received an email stating they were going to refund my money. They did, however did not refund the full amount owed, it seems they didn’t think it necessary to refund the tip I pre paid for the service I NEVER received. I wrote an email back and it has been over a week and I have heard nothing back. I reiterate, this company has very courteous drivers and is great IF they turn up when scheduled, booked and paid for, but unfortunately this doesn’t always happen and trying to get in contact with them is next to impossible.
I originally reviewed Stan’s Shuttle service (December 2012) and gave them 4.5 stars because their service was great and prices very competitive, they did sometimes seem a little disorganized but turned up hence the loss of half a star. After my last experience (January 2014) I am changing my rating to one star, because their service is no longer what it was. And trying to get a hold of some one is next to impossible.
I booked a round trip to Sacramento airport and back. I did it over the phone and it did take several tries to get a call back to make the booking, not a big deal, but that is not the reason I now give them one star. I paid for the round trip cost and included a tip up front so one less thing to think about. The trip from home to the airport was perfect, the driver turned up on time, called 30 minutes earlier to confirm pick up. Was courteous and friendly and all was well. This is where the good service ended.
The day before our return I received a text, email and phone message confirming that I would be picked up at Sacramento Airport the next day, all the information was correct so I sent back a reply to the text and email confirming and the phone message stated I didn’t need to do anything unless I needed to reschedule.
We land at Sacramento Airport at the scheduled time expecting to see the Stan’s Shuttle Van waiting for us, it was not, we figured that maybe they were just running a little behind so waited 20 minutes or so, still no van. I tried calling several times but it went to their message system, I left a message. Waited another 20 minutes, still no van and no response from my message left. I went in to customer service to see if they had another number for them we could try, they didn’t and said it isn’t the first time they have had people tell them Stan’s Shuttle was late. We decide to wait 20 minutes longer, just in case they got held up, after which time we decide we need to find another way home. The cheapest we find is $ 110 so without any other options and still no Stan’s Shuttle Van turning up at last minute we finally get home no thanks to Stan’s Shuttle.
To make it worse, I leave another message letting them now how unsatisfied I am and I write an email detailing the problem we have had. After several calls the next day, someone finally gets back to me, they obviously don’t listen to their messages or respond to emails because the man I spoke to, has no idea why I have called and when I tell him he doesn’t have any information in front of him to see what went wrong. He is apologetic and says he will let the owner know and he will refund my money straight away. UPDATE: has been over a week and after I have left 3 messages have still not heard back from anyone and have not received my money back.
Bottom line is don’t use Stan’s Shuttle unless them showing up at the scheduled, confirmed and paid for time and location is not important. Their automated system apparently works great, it just isn’t working in conjunction with a live person to come pick you up, and forget it if you need to get a hold of someone if they don’t turn up, especially after business hours.
I really wanted to love this company and support them because they are a small local business but the number one thing I need in a shuttle service is reliability, add to that the lack of response from them when something goes wrong and their obvious lack of interest in fixing it makes me not recommend them.

I’ve used Stan four times in the last few months. Very reliable, timely and pocketbook friendly. Once I accidentally left my purse in the van on the way to Sac Airport. They drove it back to the airport and I was able to make my flight. WOW!!! Try em… you’ll like em!!!

Wow! My husband and I were trying to catch a MAC flight back to Honolulu with a ton of other hopeful people. We first heard about Stan’s service from the folks at Travis AFB. The driver, Larry was punctual in picking us up from the car rental return. He then hung around to see if we would make the flight. When we did not he waited for us to make hotel reservations in Sacramento and drove us there. The rates were great and he was very kind. Would highly recommend them. Just remember that there are only a few drivers and they are a 24 hour operation so you may need to call early.

Stan is a former U.S. Marine who is doing something on his own. Rather than look for something he can try to fit into and be happy though he might not be, and just pass his time, he instead created his own — seemingly successful — transportation service, and though I only see his drivers and vans at Travis AFB when I am there stuck for a week or so, or arriving and seeking a ride to the City, it’s always a great sight. He advertises and does offer the cheapest prices available — I found out recently after being tight on dinero and calling transport shuttle services in ALL of the Bay Area, including Sacramento, San Francisco, Oakland and Fairfield — and all I discovered is that none of them could not beat Stan’s shuttle prices! I have thus far been delivered twice and absolutely enjoyed the ride (s). Once to Vallejo to catch the ferry to SF, and just recently to SF and in both instances the driver was very courteous, very punctual and very articulate. It is such a joy to hear nice people who know the English language which in this age and time, is butchered daily. I highly commend his drivers and their polite manners in person and by phone. On my most recent delivery by Stan’s driver Wesley, he had to check at a hotel for people who had called for transport services. After arriving, the driver looked high and low for that group of people who had simply disappeared without notice nor even a call to say they were leaving… though the people may be mean and discourteous, Stan’s drivers are not and this isn’t because they are told to maintain this attitude but because when one is born and raised to be kind and sincere, one cannot act in any other way. Thanks Stan for your drivers and your great service. See you the next time I am stuck in Fairfield and Travis.
The other number to call is 1−707−761−4430 and the website states their service is available ²⁴⁄₇ Mon-​Sat, of course Sunday is by reservation only ~ heck, they’s got to eat somehow! They drive a very plain white van with Stan’ name and logo on the back window. I have taken other vans from the City to Travis and being on the road a lot myself, I can understand the traffic and routine of someone who «lives» behind the steering wheel, and I seriously thought I wouldn’t arrive at Travis alive, as that driver was driving half asleep, so much that I felt compelled to talk continuously to simply keep that driver awake! I will never call anyone else but Stan’s drivers!
