I have seen these folks out in our neighborhood in their reflective vests getting dropped of by a white cargo van then going door to door even though there are no solicitation signs clearly posted at each entrance of the neighborhood.
Tonight just happen to be one of those nights when one of the two young men rang my door after standing on my stoop bragging about how the other got a full confirmation lead.
When I answered the door I asked the gentleman to identify himself by name, his company, and what his purpose was. He identified himself as Julius with HCR and they were just in the neighborhood giving estimates on work to be completed. I asked for his solicitors license to which his friend who was standing nearby said he did not need one because they weren’t selling anything. At that point I was already on the phone with Fairfax County nonemergency describing the individuals since they did not have a solicitors license. They started yelling that they did not need one and then they disrobed the reflective gear, hats and jackets and began running off into the dark.
If this doesn’t make you guilty of doing something wrong I don’t know what does. I obviously will not do business ever with this company because of the horrible tactics that they use to acquire business.

We had someone knock on our door in October. It is now February. Had him come back and check our home. He told us that we didn’t need his company to fix what we needed fixing.
THEN the phone calls started coming.
I have had my phone number since 1999 and this one corporation is making me think of getting my phone number changed.
Every few weeks I get a phone call asking me how this service was. I have told them at least 4 times (5 now, as of tonight) to stop calling me. I put my husband on the phone.
I had given them a high rating on Angie’s List. And I will be going in to change that now. And now putting this 1 star on Unilocal.Obnoxious people who do NOT understand the clearly stated words, «STOP CALLING ME!!!»
This is HARASSMENT !!! Stop harassing me!!!

I have not worked with this group, but I’m not pleased with what seem like high pressure sales tactics. They call endlessly and do not leave messages. I agreed to getting an estimate, but then they refused to schedule an appointment unless my husband would be there too, which I find insulting. When I explained that I own the house and write the checks, the person on the phone made a joke of that. I do not plan to do business with this company.

I had a wonderful interaction with these gentlemen tonight. I have a No Soliciting sign posted visibly beside my door. Our community is also marked «No Trespassing, Residents and Guests Only». Pretty simple, right?
When I was on a conference call and got a knock on my door, I was surprised to see a solicitor. I mean, what else do I need to do? When I pointed to the sign right beside my door, I advised him that his group was also trespassing and they need to leave the community.
The responses from them were utterly appalling. «We ain’t trespassing, this is a public sidewalk.» So I gave up trying to argue with them and just called the cops. «You’re real tough while you’re on the phone. You better stay on that phone.»
So, there’s that. I’m going to call the company and let them know, at least.

Stop dropping your sales people off in our neighborhood. I am so tired of them knocking at my door and bothering me while «not» trying to sell me anything!!!
Your sales tactics are unethical, I feel bad for the reps you drop off, they seem like nice young folks.
We have no soliciting signs posted throughout the neighborhood, so what you are doing is probably illegal. Your company is horrible.

This company literally called me every day… Every day for about 6 months until I finally scheduled an estimate, because I did need a new roof. Finally I get a salesman, not a contractor to the door. The guy uses all the usual sales tactics, and I immediately felt like I was being taken for a fool. I had already had three quotes under my belt for the same roof, and the average was about 3500 dollars. The HCR sales guy tells me it will be about 9000 for the whole job, but it’s 7200 if I advertise their services in my yard… And 6480 if I sign an agreement that day. I was seriously insulted by this sales rep. I explained I had lower bids and he kept asking what they were and trying to explain why his might be higher and the other contractors may be inferior. Needless to say I wouldn’t give him my other estimates because I felt like he wasn’t being honest from the beginning. I was very annoyed I let this company pitch me an estimate after being harassed for 6 months. Homefix custom remodeling is not an honest contractor, they are a sales company out to trick unsuspecting people into paying inflated contractor costs.

Thank you John for responding to this but I can take pictures of my contract that shows. I am a client. Funny thing is I just recently had my sliding glass doors replaced for the third time in less then a year. What made matters worst is that one of the managers called me thinking that I broke the door on purpose. I’m sorry I work full time and go to school full time. I DO NOT HAVE TIME FOR GAMES! While we did resolve it and I was apologized to for the misunderstanding, buy it still was unnecessary. The bad thing is that John blamed Unilocal but the reviews speak. Real people are providing real experiences. I have spoke with some really good quality people at the company to resolve issues. Plus at no time have I been a customer that has yelled or cussed at an employee when I was frustrated and the service manager remembers me because of that. Instead of John reaching out to me, to try to make experiences better for the next customer he says my review is false and blames Unilocal for ruining a small business.

I had a terrible experience with Homefix and would warn everyone to stay away from hiring them for anything. Their windows had 4−6″ less window space then my existing windows. The salesperson failed to mention this to me and originally said the new windows would look just like my old ones.

This is a review of their Sales tactics/​James Taylor who is supposedly a Regional Sales director who has a gmail acct instead of a company email.
I was approached by two guys who promised me a 45 minute estimate appointment which will be valid for 1yr. What I got was an appointment that lasted lasted for 3hrs with James Taylor telling me that I am not as smart as some of his high class clients and that I bought too much house.
The estimate at Retail was $ 46,000 but he gave me special deal. One time deal because I was privileged to meet with him (his own words). The new estimate came to $ 20,000. But wait, I had to sign the deal right now. That’s when I happened to check Unilocal and saw all the wonderful 1 star reviews. His answer, Unilocal reviews are by people who wants to get free stuff. It’s basically a «shake down». And Unilocal is being investigated by DOJ so don’t believe anything you read.
Hesitant to go any further I told him no. He left and wrote me several e-​mails. Here is one of them. Subsequent to this, it was more nasty/​insulting e-​mails.

This evening’s experience landed me in a unfavorable exchange with HCR’s finance director. His willingness to help design a financing package for you led to a late night phone call to the CEO. Now that you’ve backed away from the agreement they are asking me why I was willing to break the rules for you; given the fact you were not an Internet appointment plus there is no general practice by HCR to combine programs.
One of my personal clients is the U.S. Navy Deputy Inspector General. If anyone would have seen Unilocal as being credible it would have been her. Instead, however, she chose to rely on proven, factual resources.
Dealing directly with me is the benefit only a few are privileged with. Why you concern yourself with what someone says about telemarketers, who might not be still employed, is beyond me.
An important lesson learned tonight. Sticking my neck out to help leaves me the only person at risk.

All I wanted was an estimate, here I am dealing with e-​mails and name calling. Seriously? This is the kind of people you hire?

The problem with Homefix is once they do a project, they will to robocall you every single week for eternity to try to get more work out of you. They will do this no matter what.
The reason I am posting this review now is because they literally just called me yet again, after both my wife and I told them at least 6 times that we are not interested and to remove is from their list.
They apparently still have not done so. Oh and they call during dinner time each time. So get ready for that.

This is an update to a previous review. I respect that a representative from the company responds to reviews of the company. However, trying to placate a potential customer rather than fix the thing they are complaining about is not going to change the poor review. I am only posting this follow up because since my previous review (9 days ago) I have had people at my door 3 more times from this company, including twice today. I understand the canvassing occasionally, but once I have told your salespeople «no» multiple times, you’d think they’d maybe wait a while before coming back.

Please NEVER provide these folks your phone number. They are ANNOYING! I have asked so many times to remove my number, I keep blocking their number but they still keep calling me everyday from different numbers.

I (regretfully) answered a knock at my door sometime last year, with a rep from this company standing there when I opened the door. The rep asked a lot of questions I guess to determine whether I was married and when my husband would be available to do an estimate for a new roof. Finally had to tell the guy he was being way too invasive. To get him off my doorstep I agreed to the estimate, but when the time came for them to come out, since my husband wasn’t available, they claimed that the estimate couldn’t be done. No sweat, I wasn’t in the market for a roof anyway, and this was an easy way for me to get out of a high pressure sales push. Fine.
I thought I was done with this company, but since that visit LAST YEAR, I have received calls nearly every day (sometimes twice a day) at different times from different numbers. Finally, I picked up the call to asked to be removed from their list, and the rep didn’t want to hear me when I said I wasn’t interested in an estimate. I received another call from them a couple of days later. Picked up to ONCE AGAIN request that my number be removed from their call list. This time I talked a rep that let me turn down the service without a hassle and seemed to agree to remove me from their list. We’ll see if it takes.
I’m completely turned off from using this company for anything due to their constant calling and pressuring for estimates. It’s really ridiculous at this point. Repeatedly calling and knocking on people’s doors asking personal questions ain’t the way to go in my book.

Do not use this company. We had a roofing contract that was made with a salesman by the name of James who claim he was Vice Pres. of Marketing.
Since our roof was leaking like a sieve, they sent some people over to tarp the roof since it would be some days before the could redo the roof & fix the Chimney.
The guy who supervised the tarping would be the foreman for our project, so I went over some of the special things,(ie double flashing and hi quality water&ice shield around chimney, longer non rusting nails, etc) that were agreed upon in the contract. The next day I get a call from the company, I think it was the owner, refusing to do the job agreed upon, saying that the contract price was too low to cover what was listed in our contract. It was a $ 24,000 contract. He said he would have to charge over $ 40,000 to do the job.
Since I didn’t want to go thru the expense & aggravation of taking this company to court to honor their agreement PLUS at this point, I did not trust them to do the job correctly. I just found a different roofing company.

HCR is a fantastic exterior remodeling company! Their customer service is extraordinary. They are willing to work with you and help alleviate any issues you are having whether financially or with questions regarding the products/​equipment they use. The Director of Roofing Operations Matt Kavanah is extremely knowledgeable and provides customers with the attention and care they deserve. I would recommend using this company for any and all projects related to exterior remodeling!

After 6+ months of receiving unwanted phone calls and repeatedly having the salesperson saying I was being placed on their «do not call list,» I received another phone call yesterday. I thought I had all of their numbers blocked by now… I finally filed an FCC complaint against the company because this is unacceptable.

Will not stop calling despite having told them I am not interested… They have called me so many times. I have the call history on my phone; 8 times this past month, and more in the previous months. Good thing I can block them on my phone otherwise I would be going nuts. Looking at the other comments, I’m obviously not alone.

Had a horrible experience with a sales person coming to my door. They were rude and insulted the condition of my home. Wouldn’t use you for anything

OMG! STOP CALLING ME! We had this guys come in and give us a quote for windows a year ago and we found someone else to do the work that was ½ the price and so much less annoying. These guys come around and canvas our neighborhood at least 6 times a year. I kid you not, they have knocked on our door or come up to us while we were outside our house no less than 6 times in the last year. After repeatedly telling them we have already had the work done, they still try to convince us we need work done. They are idiots, they don’t listen. They call me at work, I had to block them on my cell phone. They are relentless. I can’t wait till they go out of business.

Wow. Had door-​to-​door salespeople knock on our door twice over the course of 3 days. Won’t take no for an answer. Super pushy about scheduling a time for a free estimate. Super sketchy and desperate.
To the second guy who knocked on our door Monday night, I apologize for the attitude. I don’t take kindly to being interrupted during dinner prep in my pj pants. Plus, you know, someone was JUST knocking on our door two days earlier. At lunch time, mind you.
