A.C. Moore Arts and Crafts

Wow, I was surprised how painless it was to do a refund here. After reading some of the reviews here I was expecting to put up a fight with customer service but Kristyn on the customer service desk knew what she was doing. I was impressed how professional she was and how quick my transaction went. The only thing is that this place is a pain to get to when there’s traffic or during rush hour. Other than that, lots of parking in the shopping center.

I love the selection that this store has but my review is about the staff.
I went in there today to look for paint. But I found myself browsing the store. I went in the 40% off glassware section and picked up two items. I wandered over to the wood crates and couldn’t find dimensions. I waved at an employee who looked on tag (like I hadn’t already done that) and she heard her name being paged so she had to leave but could have someone «look it up.» I told her don’t worry about it since I felt like I was unconvincing her. I made my selections and proceeded to the register. There, an absolute peach checked me out. When one of my glass items did not ring up as 40% off, I asked her about it. She sighed and said she could get a price check. Again I was an inconvenience to these employees apparently. She called someone to get a price check. Meanwhile before I even reached the register, a child got sick right in front of the door. I waited for about five minutes for the price check– still no one to clean up the vomit, nor someone to do the price check. The employees spat at each other about paging someone and a mop. I decided at this point since a line was forming behind me to not get either glass item. I felt the cold air from the register lady. I irritated her by asking her to take off two items on my list (one of which was improperly priced). As I made my way out the store I had to be careful I didn’t step on vomit that had yet to be cleaned up.
I wish that the employees were a little more helpful and actually did their job.

Horrible Manager. He completely talked down to people and refused to acknowledge that they mislabeled items. Instead he blamed people moving stuff around. He wouldn’t honor the price that was listed under the items either. That’s false advertising. I returned everything that I bought from AC moore and re-​bought at Joann’s (even though some are more expensive). What a horrible place. Never will be shopping here again!

AC Moore was my go to craft store in college. They were typically cheaper and better stocked than Micheal’s and had more Greek letters/​paddles/​random assorted things that I was looking for.
Granted I am crafting far less these days, and no longer make big/​lil paraphernalia, but I still enjoy making the trip to AC Moore every now and then.
They still have everything I am looking for and I have never had a problem with their pricing or customer service.
I am honestly pretty surprised they don’t have more stars.

Finally walked in to check the place out after my massage to see if I could find any items my friend needed for her wedding and to look for fabric for my upcoming home project. Well I finally purchased command strips to hang up wall pictures in my place. There was a 55% off coupon at the door along with many other coupons for different upcoming days of the week. I used this on my most expensive $ 7.59 item and used the military discount of 15% on entire store purchase for other things. I stopped by the framing section which was 57% off custom framing end today but another sale will start tomorrow. I plan to return tomorrow to get some things framed that I have been procrastinating about for a few years. This place is like a hobby lobby if you are familiar with that place. Definitely for those knowing what they want when entering.

The only reason to shop here is if you have a 50 percent off coupon. Horrible customer service from an uninformed staff.

Still missing 1 of my pieces of artwork, have had to make calls to AC Moore HQ and the district manager. I called the store yesterday to check on my piece was told that the backorder frame was now discontinued. ZERO follow-​up from the store manager. On the plus side all of my monies (plus $ 50 for my time) have been refunded.

I really like this store. I can find most of the craft items for a lower price than other craft stores. I hate that I ALWAYS have to wait in line for at least 5 mins… They need to put more registers open.

I usually frequent Michael’s to get any craft-​related items, but my sister sold me by printing out 50% off one regular-​priced item coupons (which you can easily find online weekly) so we went to AC Moore instead. This store is located in Fair City Mall where the parking situation is horrendous since the parking lot is shared with so many other big retailers.
There was a lot of variety here in terms of crafts, party favors, scrapbooking, wedding related items, holiday items, and etc. versus Michael’s. I wish I discovered this place when I was an undergrad because they have a wide variety of different art supplies that I would’ve enjoyed using. The store itself was a little disheveled and disorganized, but I shouldn’t expect too much neatness during the holiday season.
If you’re into arts and crafts, you should definitely check this place out. There’s a wide variety of merchandise, the prices are reasonable, and the coupons are plentiful.

Never go to this store to buy picture frames. No one will help you at the customized frames area. Very very poor service there. I decide to buy things from Michael’s instead.

For someone from a place with no stores like this, this place is pretty awesome. Ben Franklin is the closest thing, but that place is expensive and doesn’t have anywhere near the selection you can find at A.C. Moore. I’ve been to a couple of these before and it is a dream come true for anyone into crafts, baking, or just miscellaneous awesome stuff! It’s like taking the one isle of crafts and baking at a regular store and exploding it into a giant store full of anything you would even care to try.
I personally go for the baking aisles. The last time I went, I bought a ton of things. They had cake decorating kits on sale from $ 20 (from $ 35) and a crazy variety of melting chocolates (for cake pops and chocolate moulds). My sister bought peanut butter and chocolate mint melting chocolates. I also got a lot of xmas gift bags and xmas tissue, which is way cheaper than I usually buy them for at Walmart. There were a lot of Xmas things like lights, decorations, decorative boxes and tins, etc.
To me, the prices are on the cheap side, but maybe I’m comparing it to Ben Franklin. When I went, there weren’t any long lines or anything. I thought the sign at the front was pretty funny. Apparently they advertise that they are a location for field trips xD. Imagine that, a field trip to a chain craft store. If you are looking for the hard to obtain craft supplies, then this is a great place to stop by!

Worst experience ever! I had 4 albums to get framed and was told by Ann that they would take bit longer (dropped them off in mid-​july) than their normal 2 week timeframe — which according to her was the first week in August. That was fine with me — it was a birthday gift and the birthday wasn’t until the 20^th of August. After the first week, I get no call — so I call them. Ann tells me she has NOT gotten a chance to work on them and would need more time and she said she was just about to call me (sure, w/​e). She was working on this other watercolor frame and it has taken her a long time to do and she can’t figure it out (I don’t care.)
Another week goes by, I call them again — Ann gives me her sob story — they are short people on the floor, she can’t find the time to do it, she only is able to work 40 hours, they dont pay overtime (blah blah blah). I wait… wait…miss the chance to give this gift as a birthday present and wait some more. STILL no one calls me — I finally call them yet AGAIN (8÷28÷12) and now Ann is almost done with 2 of the frames but hasn’t started on the other two, so she’s going to need more time.
I am just pissed at this point — I paid over $ 500 for these frames and no one would give me a date of when they will be done. Just excuses. I ask to speak to the manager and spoke to Jenny and she assured me that they will get extra coverage for Ann to work on my frames to get it done by tomorrow.
Today, I get a phone call from someone in the frame department letting me know that they did everything they could to complete my frames and they are ready to pick up. I ask to speak to the manager to get a refund, he tells me he has to speak to the general manager. He gets back on the phone and says the best they can do is give me 10% (big whoooping deal). The GM couldnt’ even get on the phone to tell me that.
I will NEVER get any custom frames done here ever again. If you do — be sure to wait 2 months before getting anything back or even hearing from anyone in the store.

Sometimes, the registers can be a little bit slow, since the customers hold up the line (imagine a lot of old ladies-​exchanging, using 100 coupons, etc…), but I’ve always gotten what I need for crafts and supplies here. They also have the best prices. Not including their usual 40−60% off weekly coupons.
They have great frames and baking supplies.
The only thing you should watch out for is the packaging. Sometimes, items like frames and glassware aren’t packed well enough, so by the time you get home you notice minor scratches, etc.
I’ve never had a problem returning items I’ve taken home, opened, and found to be broken. It’s just a little bit of a pain having to come back to exchange the item.

I like AC Moore as a chain for the most part. This location is pretty decent too. They tend to carry more of a variety of products in terms of party favors and party decorations. Most of their prices are cheaper than Michaels.
This location is less crowded so you can actually navigate. It does have the typical layout of other AC Moore stores, but sometimes it is confusing to find out what you are looking for. I have yet to thoroughly go through their inventory of art supplies yet. I will come here for my quick art needs but will probably go to an actual art store or shop online for something specific.
It does seem kinda run down in comparison. Seems like the lighting is dim. The cashiers are friendly and check you out quick. I called in advance to see if they had an item in stock and the associates are more than willing to look for you, but will most likely tell you to come into the store. They do have a lot of great craft ideas and projects for kids and us adults who love crafts.

If you go here & Laurie, a small, slightly balding woman, is working customer service, you can forget about getting any help. She was curt & dismissed me without even looking for the product I had requested. She didn’t offer any assistance whatsoever. Thankfully a cashier, Kim, suggested calling in another associate. The only reason I’m not giving this location one star is a nice male employee (who’s name I didn’t catch) that scoured the aisles to actually confirm that they were out of the product I needed. Rather than leave me unhappy, he went to the trouble of getting Nathan (a manager?) who was considerate enough to call another location & place it on hold. I ended up driving to Manassas & I’ll probably shop that location from now on.

This review is not for the store in general but in regards to a horrible encounter I had with one of their customer rep by the name of NICOLE. I had purchase some items from this location and went there today to exchange them, unfortunately I did not have my receipt so I obviously expected store credit.
Firstly, while she was attending to my wife and myself without excusing herself she walked away from us to attend someone else then return.
Secondly, she issued us a credit at almost ½ the price of what we paid for it, and when I asked why, she said «the item was on sale within the past 6 mths so thats how it goes»
Thirdly, my wife picked up on her foul mood and asked if she was having a bad day at which she ignored us handed us our gift card and walked away.
Now on check out «Catherine» was very pleasant, but NICOLE had already left us with a bad feeling and as my wife said «a fear of ever returning anything again to that store»
