This is my first time at this Loco Moco and let me tell you I am never coming back here. I ordered the BBQ chix plate, loco moco, and lemon chix/kalbi plate for my family. It was very horrible. BBQ chix was chewy, lemon chix had no lemon flavor or any flavor on it at all and tasted like old fried chix, kalbi was undercooked, mac salad was watered down mayo, and the loco moco had no flavor also. So very disappointing…

I have been to this establishment several times and this place is good. They give plentiful portions and they have cheap prices for the food. The scenery in this restaurant however needs a bit of renovation. The seats and tables there look run down and outdated(rivals McDs to be honest). The customer service can be somewhat rude depending on what time of day it is and who is working on that particular day. I have ordered their signature Chicken Katsu and my goodness. It was ALOT! You could easily fill two stomachs with one regular plate lunch order. It was good too.

All I can say is CHICKENKATSU! lol. Who doesn’t love katsu? Store is located in the Ewa town center next to Foodland. If you’ve been to ine L&L, you’ve basically been to all of them. The only difference would be their daily or weekly specials the run. All the food is ono, and very affordable. They also do phone orders, which I highly suggest because this location can get pretty busy. Of course busier during lunch and dinner, but they do have sporadic rushes throughout the day. In my opinion the store can use a bit of updating, and maybe a deep clean of the floors and walls.(Hence my 3* rating) I understand they are a busy store, but I would also put effort is the appearance and cleanliness. Upon entering you immediately see boxes stacked up to the ceiling, which is an eye sore to customers. I come here to eat, but basically as a last choice because of this issue.(*but I still love their Chicken Katsu) lol.

This is confirmation that not all L&L’s are the same. The menu is the same, but the standard here was VERYPOOR. We got 3 plates lunches— everything smashed together like pig food. The sodas were watered down. The beef stew was in big containers on the floor cooling down. Horrible customer service and the place needs some general cleaning. Cobwebs… Dirty walls. Ugh, REGRET! Never again!

Came here after my Drs appt. It wasn’t busy, so we ordered and sat down. The place itself is semi clean(could definitely use a make over). The staff was friendly enough. We ordered the chicken katsu to share, and I’m glad we did because it was huge! The katsu tasted ok, could have been chopped thinner as it was I little thick for my tastes. The fries could have been in the frier a bit longer as they were soft. It was okay here, I’ve been to better. But if you need a quick bite, it did the job. As 1 regular katsu plate fed both my husband and I and was only $ 8.50.

Chinese lady is rude. When placing a phone order be prepared for them not having your food ready. It happened a couple times for me. They would tell me to come in 15 minutes and when I got there to pick up my food, they make my orders on the spot. So I don’t know if it’s just the cashier’s not doing their job or that’s how this place is runned.

Location/Parking: They are located in the Ewa Beach Shopping Center next to Foodland. There are tons of parking at this shopping center. Cleanliness: It’s an older restaurant so the floors are worn out and stained from constant foot traffic. The seating area is wearing out. The chairs I sat on while I waited were breaking apart. Boxes were stacked on the side of the restaurant. Food: The food is good but the restaurant is not appealing to the eye. They have you typical local food like chicken katsu, kalbi(short ribs), saimin and etc. The portions are great! A regular chicken katsu plate can feed my family of 3 for dinner. Price: Prices seem to have creeped up over the years. A mini is around $ 8 and a regular plate is around $ 10. The most expensive plate is the short ribs for $ 11. Customer Service: Good customer service is a hit or miss. Sometimes I get a friendly cashier and other times I’ll get a cashier with attitude. I ordered chicken katsu to go in the past and my sauce was not in the package. I was given a hard time just to get sauce when I went back. Overall, I come ONLY because it’s conveniently located. I would love to see this restaurant renovated in the future.

Today their customer service sucked. Managers should train ALL their employees to courteously greet and thank ALL of their customers with EVERYSALE. I won’t be back based on today. The guy at the counter today seemed more interested talking to his girl co-worker than the customers.

Rating this a 1 star because Unilocal said they close at 9 on Sunday’s so last night my boyfriend & I went down there at around 8:15, ordered our food & sat down. We expected to eat there since they weren’t closing yet, WRONG! We took a couple bites of our food only to get RUDELYKICKEDOUT guy worker comes around the corner and says«sorry we’re closed, we close at 8:30» and walked away. First of all, they did not say anything to us when they saw us sit down and open our food and secondly I have waitressing experience and it’s only common courtesy and customer service that you DONOTKICKOUTPAYINGCUSTOMERS! The nerve of them! I mean I get it you want to go home already, but seriously to kick out people is just straight up rude! Not to mention we had our baby with us and one of the workers come and just mop right by us with a strong cleaning smell! Ugh! I rarely come to this l&l & now I really know why, on those rare occasions I just have bad experiences with them!

Tried their Loco Moco for the first time and I must say it was different. I’m not a local so that might’ve had something to do with my tastebuds not liking Loco Moco, which by the way means«crazy Booger» in spanish

Not a very clean place. Ordered a bowl curry beef with rice. Horrible… oversized carrot and potatoes with mushy rice. In a to go boxes only. The beef needed to be smaller also.

Would of gave this place a 5 but couple factors came in: 1) a few years back, they only accepted cash no credit cards, however now they do honor credit cards which is a plus 2) when I received my chicken katsu reg. plate, plate on one side couldn’t close all the way, making the curry sauce leak out of the plate a bit. I tried closing it but I just wouldn’t close so I carefully had to carry it out and make it home without spilling it out. 3) when I opened it, saw a huge mountain of food which j thought was a lot of chicken but too much rice making it look like their was more chicken. It’s acceptable tho since a lot of locals eat rice. I’m not a big rice eat I should asked to switch one scoop of rice to Mac salad or a type of salad. Overall, food was good however I don’t like all the added fat and extra meat(either pork of beef in the curry sauce).

This is your typical L&L. –Over OR under cooked food –messy/smashed sandwiches(Is this normal for you? Or am I just super unlucky? lol) –Dirty fountain spouts. –Dirty tables/chairs/floors The service was good. I wish their food was good too. It’s cheaper than Loco Moco. If you don’t have much money but want to get a good amount of food, try this place out. I would not want to come back here. This is a quantity over quality place. I hope I’ll be able to do an update review on this place with better things to say.

If you’re hungry, this is the place. Good food and lots of it. Combo plates are the best but the burgers are great too!

Service is fast, food sucks. One time I ordered the garlic salmon and it was disgusting. It was literally swimming in oil and fried garlic chunks and I couldnt even swallow it. It was really horrible. Another time I ordered the mahi and I promise you it was fried tilapia. This time I got a hamburger deluxe and it looked like it came from mcdonalds, erg. I should have known to not come here after the garlic salmon. I’ll only come here when I’m absolutely desperately desperate.

They probably have one of the best chicken katsu I’ve tasted! Very consistent. This is for the two stars. But!!! Zero stars for a most recent purchase. My bf bought their seafood combo plate and as he bit into his fried shrimp hairs were found inside! *gag! Let’s just say that we won’t be there for awhile. It’s one thing for the place to be a bit unsanitary, but hair in food? That’s where I draw the line. No thank you.

I’m kind of amazed this place is still here. It’s dirty. The bathroom is unacceptable for a restaurant. I unfortunately ordered food before checking out the conditions. my girls wanted chili dogs, and after seeing what it looked like, they didn’t want to eat it! I tasted it, and I didn’t blame them for not wanting to eat it. It was like dog food! I ordered the Kailua pork and cabbage and I was only able to have a couple bites of that. I HATE to give reviews this bad, but I don’t want people to waste their money. Place needs major improvements, starting with the cleanliness.

Tucked away in a little strip mall, there lies a familiar sign for hunger salvation. Don’t let the dingy appearance fool you, it seems as if this shop has been around for ages… but the food they dish out is top notch. Menu was totally different than the generic garbage they decided to transplant on the mainland. Mixed plate — maybe it was my accent or something but she didn’t understand what i wanted at first. Ended up getting a different mixed plate but whatevas. It was ono. Juicy bbq chicken, kalbi with just the right amount of charred bits, gave it a nice textural change. Generous scoop of mac as well. Lemon chicken — this is something we don’t have in Cali. Chicken was overly fried, but that sauce was awesome. Looked like lemon pie filling but had a savory component with it. Good stuff. Hope it isn’t another 20 years until i go to Hawaii but at least i know this place is safe to eat.

Why would anyone visiting the island of Oahu stop at an L&L, you ask? well, we were STARVING after swimming at Nimitz Beach and didn’t want to leave Ewa Beach. We ordered basic lunch plates(with huge mountains of rice and mac salad) but the flavors were missing a certain something across the board. Crazy thing is, this place was PACKED with locals. I couldn’t help but think, why are there so many locals HERE when they have the pick of the litter all over the island. I found out that to locals, a plate lunch is a plate lunch. It’d be like us going to a McDonalds if we forgot to make lunch that day. It’s just the island way.
